Bourne Estate Agents have been excellent. The brochure and photos they used to sell our property are really top quality. We were looking for a house in a very specific area, which took us a long time to find. In that time we had potential buyers pull out due to the long wait. Bourne kept us informed at all times with regards to their communications with our buyers. After we lost our first buyers, Bourne very quickly re-marketed and sold our property again. These buyers also had to wait and once again Bourne were managed that situation really well. Everyone I have dealt with in the Farnham office have been professional at all times. Since we found a house to move to the process with Bourne has again been straightforward.

Very disappointing experience My experience with Bourne was extremely disappointing, particularly in relation to communication, transparency and the pressure I felt to continue with a transaction. From the beginning, I was not told that the seller wanted to complete at a significantly later date, despite the agency apparently knowing this. I was then encouraged to "give notice on my rental" as soon as possible, even though important matters relating to the transaction remained unresolved. At one point, I was even suggested that I could contribute towards the seller's mortgage redemption costs to help speed things up. I found this extremely inappropriate and concerning. I was also told that a documentation issue could be resolved through an indemnity letter, despite the fact that estate agents are not legally qualified to provide legal advice of this nature. My own solicitors subsequently advised me differently. What concerned me most was the continued pressure to proceed rather than feeling that I was being given clear, impartial information so I could make an informed decision. Even towards the end, I felt I was being encouraged to continue despite important matters remaining unresolved. Chris was the person I dealt with directly, but my concerns ultimately extend to the overall culture and approach I experienced at Bourne. I expected transparency, professionalism and appropriate boundaries, particularly when dealing with a major financial commitment. Instead, I experienced pressure, inconsistent information and a lack of openness. I understand that property transactions can be complicated and that not every problem is within an estate agent's control. However, how buyers are informed and treated is within their control. This experience caused me considerable stress and completely undermined my confidence in the agency. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Bourne.
