The only agents I would use

Charters are the only agents I would use. I own a small one bedroom flat in Winchester which has been let via Charters since I have owned it, and they never fail to disappoint- with the most recent tenancy they managed to get £100 pcm over the asking price, and several further offers at the asking price- I don’t know how they managed this! Gary and his team are true experts and the whole team are very professional. Would always recommend Charters.

Tale as old as time, pre-tenancy management excellent, extraction from previous tenancy painful

I had reviewed extremely positively at the end of April when I found my new home, so this is an EDIT to my original review, with no prejudice to the staff I previously rated 5*. It’s such a shame. Edit date: 21.06.23Since moving from one Charters property to the next Charters property more than 7 weeks ago I have found the process of regaining ANY of my disputed deposit tortuous and difficult. I’m hoping this will be remedied soon, and is no reflection on the previously well reviewed staff members but it’s been a really unfortunate experience. Below is my previous review of the lettings agents who showed me the properties and were fab:My second experience finding a new home with Charters has been as good as the first. Thomas Andrews and Sarah Bainbridge have been charming and helpful and I've really appreciated their flexibility and promptness.

What a Great Team / Experience

The people at Charters (in the rental department) are top notch. I have the pleasure of liasing with Gary Brown, the Lettings Manager, he was honest, transparent, insightful, understanding and patience. I am overseas and this was my first time as Landlord. Every single question I had was answered extremely quickly. There were many helpful hints and tips and Gary and the team have guided me every step of the way. I am grateful.

I’d like to commend Emily Cuell for her services when dealing with estate managers especially. Couldn’t ask for better service!

My flatmates and I were looking for a house to move into next year and out of all of the agencies we spoke to, Charters is by far the best we encountered! I can highly recommend Charters Estate…

I can highly recommend Charters Estate Agents. From the initial meeting to the exchange it was a pleasure dealing with Elle and Jo. The prospect of selling my late parents house was daunting at first but the process, regular updates and overall professionalism was second to none. Brilliant - pick them!

Selling the house was the easy bit, holding our nerve (and also the chain) could not have been done without Jo (Goddard) and Gemma (Hill). We had bizarre downsizers, split chains, Liz Truss tanking the economy in the middle and a brilliant chain who held with us to exchange. Jo and Gemma did everything to keep us all sane, we have not moved in 20 years and dreaded every minute of the emotional rollercoaster. Thanks again Charters, I would recommend (if I ever move again!). [if the boss of Charters reads this give them a special bonus, you have done very well out of our chain and it was Jo/Gemma who held it together] - avoidance of doubt worth every penny!Paul

Over Valued but not under sold.

Despite the valuation being over ambitious and unrealistic, I was happy to go with Charters because of their reputation and sponsorship of Winchester rugby club. Once the sale was agreed, Jo was specially helpful in providing weekly updates and chasing round all parties right up to exchange I can wholeheartedly recommend Charters, as long as you are aware of what the real market value is.

As a hard working immigrant it is not easy to get a rental full house for a family.
