We had a great experience with Julian and team at Romans, they helped us achieve a very good price for our property and guided us on the best approach to market our property. I valued Julian's expert advice given that he's lived and worked in the local area and has a deep knowledge of the market. Our sale was part of a complex chain that required very close management from both Paula and Julian who worked tirelessly to ensure the chain was moving forward despite various challenges. I'd have no issues with recommending Romans and using them in the future based on my experience.

We were really happy with our recent sale and purchase through Romans. The sales process was well managed and we were pleased with our sale price. Julian was did a great job. He wasn't pushy as some other agents. The move manager, Paula was super. Managing a difficult chain. Without her we still wouldn't have moved! She must have made 500 calls around our sale and purchase keeping everyone updated. Having spent 6 months looking for our perfect home, I learnt a lot about the different quality of estate agents. The higher fee ( compared to an online agent ) was definitely worth it.

Absolutely appalling at every level. No ability to manage property. Handyman charges £85 per hour. Accounting a mess. No corporate memory; have to deal with too many people as they keep moving on or are out of office. Basically clueless and English used in correspondence is embarrassingly bad. No value added to regular internet advertising. Tenancy Agreement is out of date. No management and no responsibility. Were good ten years ago but now lost the plot.

My partner and I rented with Romans for a year and would strongly advise anyone renting in Reading to use an alternative agency. The agent which showed us our flat did not know anything about the property, they created as many barriers as possible to report issues in order to pin it on their tenants, and they are overall just quite unpleasant. Our property manager,Jessica Phillips, was particularly rude and unhelpful. The first time I called her after moving in, I was greeted by a massive sigh on the other end of the phone, as if I had been bothering her all day when this was the first time I had ever communicated with her. Every phone call, she seemed uninterested, annoyed I would call her to signal an issue, and has only been responsive now that the time has come to argue for the deposit. The flat had cracks on the wall as well as mold spots which had been half painted over when we moved in, and yet they tried to blame this on us. When we argued this, they stated we were to blame as the cracks had worsened due to the damp (which we notified them about in person and which they deny). I have rented with many agencies- none have been worse than Romans, and no property manager has been worst than Jessica. The people there do not like or care about their job and it really shows. Save yourself the trouble go anywhere else.

She is always communicating any updates on when works are to meant to be carried out, prompt in getting any fixes sorted and very quick to reply emails. Whilst some aspects of our initial dealings with Romans weren't great, the same cannot be said for their property maintenance department. Anita is a superstar, she has worked tirelessly to get issues sorted with our house no matter how big or small. We can call up about a non-urgent issue and have someone at our house the next day ready to fix it. Couldn't ask for a better service.

There have been few problems with the flat, but those that have come up - a bit of plumbing, and some electrical repairs - have been very efficiently handled. Pooja is both responsive and helpful, and has facilitated getting my repairs done in a timely fashion each time something has needed doing.

I rented a property from Romans about a month ago. So far I have been able to sort out all the difficulties I have had in renting a property with the help of Sang (the letting agent), Kimberley (the property manager) and Kim. In fact, they have always been helpful. They took care of everything (even the simplest process of registering for council tax, choosing an energy supplier, etc.) in a very friendly and helpful manner. Although I have no further experience with other agencies, I would say that these guys have really made a positive impact on my opinion of Romans.
