It is difficult to express in words the appreciation we have for Sophie and Martyn Gerrard. Sophie was our manager both for buying and selling our flat in Finchley. When we bought the flat, we were first time buyers; Sophie not only walked us through the new process efficiently and supportively, but she did it all in a few weeks so we could move in just before our wedding. She was so professional but also friendly--which made us want to keep in touch and always say hello if we saw her around the neighbourhood.
Truly, though, Sophie's talent and grace in her role was epitomised in the selling of our flat two years after our purchase. We initially chose to put our flat on the market with a different--bigger--agency because we thought they'd have more contacts and could sell our flat faster. This was a big mistake. This new agency was impersonal and clearly did not know the area--unlike Sophie. Our flat didn't sell for nearly 3 months. We brought Martyn Gerrard on board, and within a few weeks, Sophie had found us buyers for our flat. From that point onward, the sale went smoothly and we were able to move out to the country as hoped.
We cannot recommend Sophie highly enough--either for buying or selling. She was incredibly professional the entire time, and even after she took over from the other agency, she was only positive, supportive and optimistic about the sale. She knows her stuff, and she is a friendly and honest sales manager. Thanks very much, Sophie, for everything the past few years!

Having been seeking to sell our house for some time with another agency, my wife and I turned to Martyn Gerrard and to Marlon who I spoke to regularly.
In overview, Marlon is fantastic to work with. He is calm, professional, courteous, upbeat and impressive.
Marlon got to know our house well and is a very good salesman. He had an excellent list of contacts and despite the market being somewhat unstable during the process, he organised a large stream of prospective viewers to come and see our property. He picked up on all of the information we had given him about the house and used some of his own expertise to market the property effectively.
He came to every viewing on time, was courteous and respectful.
When it came to transacting with Marlon via email or on the phone, he made himself available, always returning emails at speed, speaking to us or calling to update us. He went above and beyond in trying to ensure we were fully informed at all stages of the process.

We bought a house in Finchley and moved in in June this year.
We got to know Marlon pretty well; we were looking since October 2014 and saw a number of properties with him.
Moving house is stressful for everyone involved, we decided to have our second baby during this process!!
So we were looking at properties whilst I was heavily pregnant and putting in offers whilst I was in labour.
Then all the politics pre exchange post offer acceptance had its own challenges
Anyway throughout the whole process he was patient, not too "in your face", but professional. First impressions count and after we saw one house with him, I said to my husband " I'd like to buy a house from marlon" and 10 months later, we did!

This company just focuses on making profit without caring about their customers. Please note, so it wont happen to you.Tyler Gorman, Lettings Manager at Martyn Gerrard Finchley Central. I have placed my holding deposit in a 1bed flat, which they have said references failed, so my holding deposit was not refunded, as they said I have signed a contract, I specifically mentioned I earn less than the annual income with the request for the property and they still did go through with my application.After requesting my holding deposit back multiple occasions Tyler Gorman denied to do it, as they have said they had multiple offers and the landlord had lost a weeks' worth of potential income. So based on their assumption, I have also lost multiple viewings and potential houses which could have been rented to me.So after I requested Tyler Gorman, to please refund me with the holding deposit, he was being very sarcastic and arrogant to me with his email replies. I guarantee you and firmly believe this agency does not care about their tenants, only focuses on making profit without caring about anything else.Until today's date 26/04/22 I have not received my holding deposit.

Hi Kelvin,Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you have had this experience with one of our offices. Following this, our team have looked into what happened. It seems our lettings team had confirmed what the earning to rent ratio needed to be for the respective property, before the holding deposit was paid. We ensure we do this for all lettings to save both us, and you, valuable time and expense.Having put your offer forward to the landlord with the income as stated, the property was taken off the market. However, during the course of referencing (conducted by an independent third party) it was established that the actual income, according to the tax paid to HMRC, was significantly lower than provided. As a result the income stated was not enough to meet the rental commitments and your tenancy could not proceed. Due to the information supplied at the start of the application, the Landlord suffered a loss and as per the Tenant Fees Act 2019 and the signed offer terms, the holding deposit was forfeited.Our team ensure to have this practice in place to avoid any shortfalls during the application process. I do hope this helps explain the situation and the processes taken.
