FacebookIt is surprising that this company is still in existence. From all of the negative feedback and poor reviews online, it only further took personal experience to realise how absurd, ridiculous, and unprofessional this company really is. After dealing with 5 different people and sending several emails to both the Egham office and main office accounting the issues we have had nearly EVERY DAY for two weeks, we have gotten ZERO written confirmation of anything. Specifically, we have been dealing with new tenants moving into a property we have paid for. We told Townends a specific date we would move out, and instead a new date was already assumed and confirmed by them without us knowing. Additionally, a move in date has already been confirmed with the NEW tenants, which we were never told of either until after it had been confirmed. However, it was even more shocking that the landlord did not know of this confirmed move in date either!
To date, this issue has not been resolved. If it wasn't for the forced rating of "1 star" I would have put "0" or negative if I could. If word-of-mouth proves influential in a companies reputation, I hope it would be this one. A word of advice? Improve your communication. It appears a lot of individual work at Townends (we know, we have talked to a different one every time we call!), so focusing on getting them to talk to one another would be a good start.

FacebookAbsolutely appalling to deal with in terms of renting. Have never had any issues with previous exits and they want to charge us £10 for leaving a good condition chopping board and some cutlery.
Cleaning company did a reclean no questions asked after they were dissatisfied with some areas and yet they turned around without having checked properly to say this did not take place. Photos of re-clean provided as evidence and instead of an apology, turned around to say their own branch should not have released the keys to the cleaners? Still holding onto our bond money.
Landlord has been kept on all the correspondences and far easier to deal with. Wonder what the agency actually does and the existence, if any, of any level of professionalism.

GoogleHated the rental department. They never returned any of my calls and I had to send 3-4 emails in order to get a response.
The flat I liked was overpriced, they encouraged me me to make an offer, then they said that it was low and made me offer more and more to the point I ended up offering the asking price.
Eventually I got the feeling that they were trying to take time, hoping that someone else would come and make a higher offer due to the perfect location.
When I threatened to go to another agency and look for a different property they said that they would have negotiated with the Landlord and they also offered a 50% discount on agency fees that were insane anyway!
They lied all the time and took even more time claiming that the Landlord wanted to meet me. He was unavailable for another week or so and was only able to meet me at the flat but the current tenants wouldn't give permission for us to meet there.
Menawhile someone else has managed to view the flat and make an offer.
They even forgot to cancel my meeting with the Landlord! No need to say that nobody apologised to me ever.
I'll never even look at their ads again, I'd rather live under a bus shelter than finding a property through Townends.
I'm glad I went to another agency, fees were less than half, they were honest, professional and very communicative. Everything was hassle-free and that is priceless when you're moving home!
