TrustpilotYet again I try to report a repair only…
Yet again I try to report a repair only to be told its not an emergency. My extractor fan in the downstairs shower room has packed up. Not a massive problem but I can't open the window because it opens onto a public footpath, the house is already damp with mould on the ceilings and clothing in draws and wardrobes. This is not the only repair they refuse to do. My fence is falling down with all the fence posts rotten through, a tree at the bottom of the garden is rotten and hanging over the footpath yet they still expect the full service charge to be paid, in fact they recently raised the the service charges to cover tree maintenance it would be funny if not typical of the company. Why should we pay for a service we no longer get

TrustpilotLeaking roof not a emergency?
We reported a leaking roof to the repair call centre ( you cannot currently report a repair online as this it unavailable at the moment as they are only dealing with emergencies due to Covid) and they explained that they will only deal with emergency call outs. I would have thought water coming through the roof was considered that. However because the rain had stopped and the rain was coming through it wasn’t classed as a emergency and we were advised to call back when it was raining. Of course I complained and was then told I would receive a call by the maintenance team within 48 hours, of course no call arrived, as usual! This company are all about profit and care little for the thousands of tenants that are living in sub standard accommodation. The development in Thornaby, seems to have plenty of maintenance vans sitting about but very little work being done! I am currently collating information regarding the state of repair in neighbouring properties and will be writing to our local MP to try and make this company fulfil its obligations to its tenants. The websites look amazing but the company is not! In the meantime we have paid, as usual for a private contractor to repair the roof and will be submitting this bill through the small claims court.

Because of the lockdown I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Regan Spence in person. It was all done in a very friendly manner over the phone. Within the hour she had explained everything I needed to know and answered all my questions. The tenancy was read and signed using my smart phone. Thank you Regan for making it a seamless experience

Just moved my stepdaughter into her 1st flat, she has some learning issues and we were quite worried about her moving. The team who ive dealt with from places for people, lorraine, Regan and Shane have been amazing and very helpful no matter what I have asked them. They always get back to me and I just can't express how they've made this move so much easier. Amazing customer service.

TrustpilotAbsolutely disgusting customer service
Absolutely disgusting customer service, all they want is your rent money.I have lived in my property for 7yrs in this time I have had to put up with my heroin dealing neighbour. I am woken at all hours of the night and disturbed during the day with people coming and going, knocking, banging and kicking at the door, even throwing stones to get his attention. He himself is a dirty tramp who stinks. His house is a complete tip and is not a home, it is more like a squat...somewhere just for him and his cronies to bang up smack....its like something out of Trainspotting the movie. He has rat traps in his home and is proud when he catches them....his record is 8 in one day!!!. I've had the pest controllers 8 times to my house because of him,4 times places for people have sent them, 4 times I've had to pay myself. All this antisocial behaviour and vermin problems have been reported endlessly and they are more than aware of this....but nothing is ever done. They have had complaints about this tenant for yrs. I have now been without insulation in my roof for nearly 8months due to having to have it all removed and vacuumed out due to the rat infestation, after which they also noticed that the rats had chewed through my lighting cables in my loft which they said was a fire risk. So I now need to have all the wires replaced before the installation of the insulation. As I said I have been without insulation for 8 months already which has cost me a fortune, on top of this I have been without lighting upstairs all over Christmas as they said it was a fire risk so they disconnected my upstairs lighting. I've had to use lamps and in the bathroom I've had to use candles. On top of this on Christmas eve I had a roof leak due to all the rain we had and it all ran down my living room wall coming in from behind my coving on the ceiling. IT IS LIKE LIVING IN VICTORIAN ENGLAND i have no lights, roof leaks and rats.My advice to anybody thinking of renting from Places for People is to think again.NO SUPPORT NO REPAIRS NO CARE

TrustpilotA summing up
Initially I was over the moon to get a flat amongst lovely friendly neighbours. Sadly the cracks soon start to show if you have any issues at all. You have to fight for everything down to a gate repair. I personally have repairs outstanding from 2 years ago and have even had to get environmental health involved for a leak which was left twice. I was shocked when every neighbour said these are the worst housing association ever but it is true. I notice there are a lot of reviews from people who have recently moved so it will be very interesting to see the same people review after 12 months. They do as little as they possibly can and pass problems around, hoping you will get bored and they wont have to do anything. The favourite line is "we don't have the budget" and 2nd favourite "I'll try to obtain funding" never to be heard about again. If you pay your rent and don't want repairs doing you are the ideal tenant for them as they will take, take, take but you get nothing in return. They are the worst housing association in the country and have no decent standards of living for their tenants at all

TrustpilotNice location for older people
Writing this on behalf of my mother. She was only a tenant for a short amount of time, after moving from her previous property of sixty years after a fall. Sadly after two months, she had to go into a care home. The property Sunrise Court, Gildersome, LEEDS, LS27 is a nice complex in church grounds, so very peaceful. It was nicely decorated and thanks to the previous tenant, my mother had fitted wardrobes and an electric fire. The property is all electric with storage heaters, some flats have been adapted to have walk in showers and others have a shower over the bath. My mother had new carpets fitted throughout before moving in, and after speaking to the agent Thomas Barraclough, he said we could leave them behind for the next tenant, which was good of him, as generally, things like that have to be removed. The flats come with a monitoring system, meaning elderly relatives who need help can get in touch with a control centre who then contact next of kin. I could recommend Places for People based on my dealings with them.

Workmen now work 24/7 hammering drilling, loud noises, policing corridors, I'm ill at the moment with chronic copd chronic emphasema I have a benine lump in my left lung (15mm) fibrosis of the left lung pneumonia in my right lung chronic sarcoidosis plus other ailments and a bad heart... I can't get any help I get kicked out of shops because of my constant coughing I have no family and live on my own when I complain the workmen kick my front door or stand out side my door as they know I'm isolating for my hospital appointment and to protect my self and others. Placesforpeople are now ignoring me... They allow workmen to use Threatening behavior and are very abusive, very lazy, they worked through 2 lockdowns, the council, police, wnt turn up or even take a complaint, workmen worked all through Christmas, Xmas eve/day (all day) boxing day (all day) Sunday (all day) and Bank Holiday Monday (all day) new years eve /day and are still hammering and being very abusive as there is no site foreman no management team lawless workers I've submitted quite a few complaints to placesforpeople about being attacked by the lift engineer and associates, about anti social and threatening and abusive behavior and noise level from the contractors and placesforpeople work force who claim to be council workers. Who work throughout the day late and early hrs of night time. I've also submitted a written record and photo n video evidence as well as written complaints I've had cleaners stand outside my front door mopping the same spot and when I go to put my rubbish out there are signs saying wet paint on the fire doors but no paint was applied.. Broken glass outside my door I even left a sweet on the skirting board and was still there a month laterI feel very suicidal very sad n confused as to why I'm being treated with such hatred. This has been going on for over a 18 months now....

TrustpilotFlammable flat
My flat is in a building constructed by Allenbuild, which is in the Places for People group. Intrusive surveys have found major defects in the building, breaching fire safety regulations from the time of construction (missing cavity barriers and insulation etc). This means we are not allowed to live in the building without a horrendously expensive waking watch (people paid to walk around the building 24 hours a day looking for fires).I asked David Cowans (Group CEO) on Twitter what he thinks about developers responsibilities to pay to fix buildings not compliant with fire safety regulations since the time of construction. His response was to block me.
