Not good

We were offered a property at the beginning of June- it was the end of August before we got the keys. They messed us around constantly trying to prove a 16 year old is British with no driving license or passport a birth certificate isn’t enough. The house was filthy I have taken pictures. It needed decorating in every single room. Ground on muck .The kitchen cupboards had new doors but inside they were filthy Fat cow graffiti written on the ceiling they painted over it but it was clearly visible. They gave me £100 towards decorating because they admitted it wasn’t clean- it’s a four bedroom room house it doesn’t cover the paint! They left the carpets from the previous tenants- not ones you would want to walk on - hanging! We had to remove them. Knot weed clearly growing in garden- it is not a simple thing to dispose of -at the time i didn’t know it was Japanese Knot weed. I actually have come to love the stuff as it is not legal for me to remove it and not much else grows in my garden. Repairs they try there best to not repair anything and it takes time if it is their responsibility. We have been without hot water for four days now and our repair day is another 14 days away- because we have a shower upstairs it’s ok - my husband is disabled and has bad legs bandaged up to his knees he can’t get upstairs at the moment but still it’s not an urgent need! The walls are so thin I can hear my neighbour use her toilet and her nocturnal habits are clearly audible. Not her fault I can hear my child roll over in her bed or open a drawer the house is poorly constructed. Everyone knows when a family member is using the toilet when we’re sat watching tv not just the flush. I don’t need my large house now as my children have left but getting downsized isn’t simple nothing is simple when dealing with PLACES FOR PEOPLE. Most people don’t have a choice who there Landlord is .you go with whoever has a property available if you do have a choice don’t choose these people. They are not good!

Been with places for people for 5 years…

Been with places for people for 5 years now. Got a 3 bed house within 1 week off applying, best thing we ever did. Any repairs that have needed doing they are there right away. Never had any problems with them ourselves. Only problem we have is tge neighbours who think it's a playground at 3am in morning. Wondering how to make a complaint about them cause seriously had enough. Great housing company

Shocking place avoid completely avoid

Shocking place avoid completely avoid. Will be giving flat up due to their service and the people they let live in the flats. They put up a scaffolding outside my kitchen window in the middle of a heatwave so I can't open the window they gave me no notice at all. I rang the housing officer he didn't even know and he's meant to be looking after the block. Motorbikes inside the communal entrance and the garden. And to top it of theres a neighbor who has had an injunction against her many reports from myself and others and yet she's still there believing a 60 ft garden is hers nobody is allowed on the garden without mouth. places for people do absolutely nothing. I promise you now you go with theses tinpots a month down the line you'd probably give your property up like I'm doing. Shocking so-called company. Absolute tin pots.

I have been renting with them for 5…

I have been renting with them for 5 years, they left me without heating for 3 years!! Finally put in a new boiler inly to do it wrong and leave me with a massive water leek which I'm now paying for. They hang up when you call, don't turn up when there suppose to and leave massive holes in walls so you freeze..... all whilst you have cancer. AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! If I had any other place to go I would, they truly are awful. My son and I currently have no working kitchen have sat in all day for no one to show and can't get through as they are hanging up everytime. I feel lost thanks to them.

Unbelieveably bad

This company beggars belief as to how bad they are!I didn't realise such incompetence still existed in the 21st century. They ring up late in the evening claiming you're in arrears and demand payment over the phone, sounding for all the world like a scammer. This was sorted by going into their offices and speaking to a manager, we were not in arrears at all. Then they cold-called again and asked for personal information for 'data protection’.Why on Earth would you give a cold caller your personal information?"I've told you who I am" they said, well a scammer would say that wouldn't they. This was resolved by telling the caller I would call the office and ask for them.I don't know why they think their behavior is normal. Then they called saying they needed to block both our doors with scaffold to access next doors roof, so, we have no way in or out for the week it’s going to take you to repair next doors roof?“Use a window” we were told!Clearly it would have been against the law to block the doors, but they insisted we would be in breach of our tenancy if we didn’t allow it, that’s their ‘go-to’ threat to gain compliance.Yet another trip to their offices to sort it out!It took them two years to come out to the garden gate to repair the access, my wife’s occupational therapist was helping us with this, she said she had sent 27 emails to the landlord but had no reply, and she had never known anything like it.We had moved out by the time they came to do the work. The worst one was a complaint raised by my wife about the housing officer, they are supposed to call you back within 48hrs but never do, yet following the complaint the same housing officer then managed to call my wife and start making threats about leaving a cardboard box in a bin.I took over at that point as my wife suffers from severe anxiety and had to be seen in hospital following their threats, I complained and went through their lenghtly, multi-stages, complaints procedure, which I'm sure is just there to knock you back and put you off pursuing it.The complaint ended up at the housing ombudsman who found in our favor and severely lambasted the landlord for the way they had been carrying on, that is despite them investigating themselves several times and finding no wrong doing, can’t see the wood for the trees then!We were also awarded compensation by the ombudsman, this was the third time we had been awarded compensation due to their poor conduct. The ombudsman also ordered them to apologise, and they had to do that twice because they couldn’t get it right first time!If their complaint procedure was fit for purpose, they wouldn't have suffered such humiliation at the ombudsman stage, and if they hadn’t been so snotty, a complaint wouldn’t have been raised in the first place. And if they didn’t have to keep paying out compensation for their negligence, they wouldn’t have to put the rent up to cover their losses.Even my wife’s Doctor wrote to them but still they carried on.During the ombudsman stage I did a subject access request and discovered that they had said they are “over and above” us. That didn’t go down well with the ombudsman or me, there is no one at that place who is over or above me that’s for sure.It also showed that one of their internal investigations found that they had not followed correct procedure, despite that, they then wrote to us telling us they had done no wrong as they had followed procedure! They couldn't even get my wife's name right when they wrote to us, despite telling them numerous times, they are just rude and unprofessional. If you are thinking or renting from this place, do yourself a favour, and look elsewhere.Just in case Places for People read this and leave the response they seem to normally leave to poor reviews on here, don’t bother asking me to email or call to discuss it, I’m sick to death of repeating myself and having nothing change. You just carry on unabated.

Gardening

I have been trying to sort out the costing of our garden maintenance for a while now at Bents cottages Mowbray road South shields, but getting no where the landscape manager keeps referring me to living plus then the email gets sent to our scheme manager ,and so it goes round and round no body is interested in the state of the grounds . All you are bothered about is the service charge. So much for your Spirit values and the slogan we work better when we work together!!! Regards Malcolm Turner

we are currently in a property that is…

we are currently in a property that is not suitable for my Husbands needs as he is disabled, he is in Hospital and has been in Hospital for 36 days because he kept banging into a Storage Heater in our Hallway, he ended up in Hospital with Septic Arthritis of the Knee. So Place for People said we could remove it and replace with a slimmer one. been in touch with some Electrician and they have said because these Storage Heaters in the Flats are Old they got Asbestos in them so the costing would be well out of our Price range. do Place for People realise that it would be an Impossible task. not sure but really not good.

9 years of yap yap yap

Rented a flat for 9 years as I had no choice due to parent moving away for work are re marage. Place was in poor condition to begin with. Poorly fitting windows and damp in the bathroom. Multiple leaks from the roof. Never fixed not even with the " major renovations ". Constantly phoning in fixes and getting fobbed off or blamed for the damages. Electrics in the kitchen. Where a death waiting to happen. Fire doors that could trap you inside. A lift that broke down Multiple times with disabled folks inside. Never missed a rent payment in all the time. Yet get treated like dirt by staffers and corporate The kicker comes when I split withy partner and loose my job. Pfp got notice of income issues told no problem. When the time comes.es for the housing benefit to be payed it was not payed. Unfortunately the job center messed up the claim 3 times due to pfp giving them the wrong details every time that it was requested. Ended up apparently owing over 2k to pfp for missing payments. Just as the situation was solved they served an eviction notice on me. In hindsight I should have had the hb payed to me then I pay pfp but I thought it was better to cut out the middle and get it sent direct to them. Still haven't payed the debt and never will. Not my problem that they can't give a government agency the correct information.
