Lacking compassion and credibility

Places for People were directly responsible for flooding my property before Christmas. Water was coming through my ceiling for 24 hours. I made a complaint to Places for People and they offered me £25 in compensation after lying about their company's response, which is incredibly insulting given their annual turnover of £850 million in 2022.They have increased the service charges for our building by twice the amount they are increasing the weekly rent, but refuse to provide their financial accounts (thus are breaking the law!) so tenants can't scrutinize their service charges. Corrupt! They are truly, truly the worst housing association, please don't rent or buy a property from them 😔P.s. In response to Places for People - I have already emailed the Customer Focus Team and submitted a formal complaint. Your company supposedly "investigated" and this was their response - shocking! Please read the reviews properly in future.

Repairs and maintenance

Been waiting on a new fence for nearly 4 yrs, supposed to start today but as yet nothing, stating you need to be at home for external fence repair, when there's a communal garden one 30ft away that has been done at drop of hat,all about the profit as nothing gets put back into upkeep of their properties, most windows on estate over 25 yrs old, double glazed units condensation. If you've bought house like my mother there's a £140 per month min service charge,as a person who works in the housing sector I can honestly say the way this company is run is a shambles.

The most unhelpful company for issues with neighbours.

I have been trying and trying, begging and pleading with p4p to do something about the noisy, nuisance neighbours upstairs, the council refuse to help saying its p4p issue and p4p just fob me off with a generic reply and tell me to go to the council. I've been complaining for over a year now and even mentioned that I have mental health difficulties which are exacerbated by noise and sleep deprivation, however they STILL refuse to step in and help. I don't even know what it would take for them to take action. The neighbours upstairs play loud music from 9pm to sometimes around 4am, but they just won't help. Useless.

Shared Ownership Houses

This housing association are currently advertising newbuild shared ownership houses in Doncaster. I was interested until I read the reviews about Places for People. From what I have read so far it seems that most of the issues relate to tenants who rent their properties. I am just wondering what experiences shared owners have had, particularly keen to know about rent increases, like how much do they go up by?

Totally outstanding members of staff.

Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to vacate my property, places for people staff, including the gardeners all went above and beyond their job description. I can’t express my gratitude enough for all that was done. Their actions and kindness was totally outstanding, really amazing. I certainly would nominate them all for an award as they truly went above and beyond. Places for people should be so proud to have an amazing team of workers. Totally outstanding.

Had a gas safety inspection booked…

Had a gas safety inspection booked yesterday 16/3/23. Lost a days pay because Im self employed for the engineer not to turn up. Spoke to property maintenance this morning 17/3/23 to find out what happened to be told that the person was still being trained, they claimed a letter has been sent with a new appointment date. But surely a phone call or a text would have been better as letters aren’t getting delivered as quick as they used too. Because I lost a whole days pay waiting for the person to turn up. Me and my partner are now going to struggle paying the rent and all they done was apologised. Which shows that this company doesn’t really care about there tenants all they care about is there money, they where quick enough to ring and say that we was £50 behind on the rent last year but they can’t make a simple phone call to say that the appointment booked can’t be made.

THE WORST

Places for people must be the WORST housing association myself and my partner have been with. The customer services is absolutely disgusting. The flat is falling to pieces, tiles falling and fell off the wall in the kitchen, the bath is loose from the wall it’s an absolute hovel. The rent team hound you daily for arrears which in total is under £300 as I pay an extra £50 per month. We pay out over £500 on a PT wage and yet they still hound you for more. The way they speak to you is like dirt on your shoe. We’ve been promised an upgrade on the kitchen for 2 years it’s that bad and yet still expect rent every month without fail. Takes an age for any repairs to be done we’ve been waiting on filing for over 8 months. Do yourself a favour and look at all the other poor reviews on here and if you’re ever offered a property with them, decline it.

Pretty awful experience in all honesty

Pretty awful experience in all honesty, was offered a property, was then made to wait almost two months to view it, was given no information prior to the viewing. Viewing was then done remotely and I was pressured to accept the property on the spot with no time to review or research my ongoing costs and suitablity of the property. I actually ended up not even occupying the flat and handed my keys back. I am now having dispute over being told I'm am liable for a 4 week notice period on a property I've barely even set foot in. Communication is lax at best and they just hide behind terms and conditions like every other big company. No human interactions or actual discussions, just letter and demands. To give some background to the suitation, I had applied for various properties using homefinder and was eventually contacted by a member of PFPs staff to let me know I was next in line for a potential flat. The application process was taken care of and I was told some work needed to be completed on the property before I could view it. This was dragged out for a number of weeks, almost 2 month before I was finally told I could view. I had intended to do this on my day off but was told I would need to view it immediately or loose my chance. So as a result needed to take an extra day off work to do this. On the day of viewing I arrived at the property, which I had no information on other than an address, I received a call from the agent saying she could not attend. It was agreed I could use the key safe and enter the property to view it. I did think to myself what work had actually been done in the 2 months as it did appear to be minimal and struck me as strange the process took so long. After viewing and calling the agent back I expressed I would like to go away review and think about if this property would be in my best interest to take on but was again told I would need to accept the offer immediately or loose my chance. Feeling pressured, and having no time to argue it as I was due to travel to Wales my fathers funeral, I accepted the offer, locked up and made the first 2 weeks payment as requested. When I did eventually have the time to look at the bigger picture, I came to realise that the property, costs and local area would not be suitable for me or visiting family. So I informed PFP of this, locked up and left the property exactly as I had recieved 6 weeks prior. I had not even booked an appointment to have my gas uncapped, other than my viewing and a brief visit after returning from my father funeral I have not used or set foot in the property. I feel these circumstances should be considered when looking at this matter. The whole process was very slap dash and left me with a lot of uncertainty throughout the process. I feel being held liable for a notice period is unjustified given the uneasy process and the fact I've never even occupied the property. No attempt has been made to have an open discussion on this, except just letters making demands for more money. I had expressed I was happy to pay the 206.40 outstanding before I returned the property on the 2nd of September but it appears they are still trying to charge me for 2 additional weeks on top of this. I have rented many properties privately for most my adult life, and although some haven't been the easiest to deal with, I've been kept informed and disputes were able to be discussed and a resolution made. Honestly this whole process has really put me off using social housing and taking my chances once again in the private sector. An additional note, I did reply to the email they seem to respond to every negative review with on trustpilot, surprise surprise, no reply.

Absolute rubbish company

Absolute rubbish company. I'm in a shared ownership scheme with them. They've sent mea letter today to say they've increased the rent yet the can't even get the amount I own correct on their paper work. They don't "share" anything, just constantly add charges. I've been on hold for them for 20 minutes already, with their awful music playing, the message has changed from 10 minutes to 20 minutes. Absolutely diabolical company to deal with, I can't wait to be free of then

Myself and 3 other tenant in a building…

Myself and 3 other tenant in a building of 6 flats have been reporting a rodent infestation for 19 months.A year ago in January 2022 work people came out to repair holes to stop the rodent gaining access, in December 2022 I spotted more mice and their excrement in my kitchen once again, and a pest control officer confirmed to me AND places for people that the holes hadn't been sealed appropriately or even with the correct materials in the first place.I have had to move out of my property because I have the serious autoimmune disease lupus, so any contaminated rodent excrement or urine could potentially make me very sick or even worse, which places for people have been informed about by myself on numerous occasions. They are not taking responsibility for this and I've been informed by them that this isn't what they would term as an urgent matter, and will be sending an engineer to inspect the holes (not fix) at the property on the 27th of march by which time I will have been unable to live in the property that I rent for over 4 months, and that roughly translated implies that they have total disregard for my health, well being, and quality of life.I have no choice but to continue impose and rely on others for shelter and help when I really shouldn't have to, and the only responses I have got back from my masses of (virtually bordering on) begging emails are condescendingly patronising replies stating that they really do understand but to basically put up and shut up.(Update) 01/02/23 got in touch using the email provided (I have already used that email 3 times with with zero response but thought I'd waste my time and effort one last time) and was advised I'd get a response in 2 days. Once again nothing, I'm not even surprised. If you can avoid this terrible company at all, then please do.Update (09/02/23) still nothing from places for people, still unable to live in my home.Update (25/02/2023)Got an email stating they will not treat the issue as a complaint as it's the tenants responsibility to treat rodent infestations within their property, even though they have known for several years and have been informed by pest control that the whole building that comprises of 6 flats are completely infested so that does legally make it THEIR responsibility. They have images of gaping holes where the mice are coming from which is where they are insisting were filled in yet they are still not taking action. This company are too disgusting for words.
