The team at John D Wood in Lymington, led by Adam Darbyshire, did nothing short of a superb job handling the sale of our house, Newlands Manor. From the outset it was never going to be an easy sale. However they handled it with professionalism and aplomb. In the final few months when the same questions plus new questions were coming from the purchasers solicitor they were constantly on top of it and kept themselves abreast of any new developments that were occurring. A difficult price negotiation at the very end between us and the purchaser was deftly handled by Adam to a very positive conclusion for all parties, that we didn’t expect. Well done Adam! My wife and I have had quite a pleasant experience with John D Wood & Co over the past week. We have been searching for our first time purchase for a little while now and so we have dealt with a variety of agents from a number of different estate agencies. Xander from John D Wood has particularly stood out from amongst others by going the extra mile in getting to understand our situation inside and out. He is both personable and relatable, as he has lived experiences similar to those of our own. We did not feel pushed into making decisions that we weren’t comfortable with. While finding the right apartment and signing a lease was a breeze (hence, two starts instead of one), once we moved in, everything went sideways. The property managers were unresponsive to both simple and complex repairs. In one case, their lack of engagement led to mold growth, eventually requiring ripping out carpet and redoing molding despite multiple escalations on our part to address leaks. What was particularly infuriating, however, either incompetence or maliciousness (or both) on their part in returning our deposit after we left. Even after aligning on amount required, it took over three months to receive our funds back. It required over 15 emails to their offices, repeated calls, threats of escalating to the housing office, and finally escalating to John D. Wood head office. Avoid working with Adamya at all cost. And if you have to, avoid giving benefit of the doubt; just save yourself the heartburn and escalate at the outset. Buyer beware - you may have no choice but to work with this team, but at minimum, know your rights and who to escalate to when they invariably try to avoid doing their jobs.
