With the price of everything going up so much I want to move somewhere easier to manage and less expensive to run, maybe a new build. I’ve found a few properties while searching, but they’re all more than I can afford. A friend of mine moved with Homewise a couple of years ago and when I told them about my problem they recommended it, saying it was the best decision they’d made. I did some research and called them straight away. They helped me to find a really nice new build that doesn’t need any work doing, which is a huge relief. Thank you, Homewise.

My mother needs to get her kitchen redone and the double glazing fixed so that it’s more cost-effective now that everything has gone up. I’ve looked at equity release for her, but the amount she can borrow has gone down and the rates are so expensive now. I did a bit of research and found Homewise, so I called them. They answered all my questions and gave me a lot of very helpful information. I think their product could be the right solution for her because it will allow her to get more money released by moving home and leasing for life. Homewise is a very clever solution for people that don’t want to take on expensive debt in their old age.

I came across homewise through a friend who had moved with them a few years ago and he said it might work for me too. I didn't know how it would work and thought it might be loan but its not. I received the brochure to my home and found it very informative. It was clear and well explained. I was happy to see there are still companies out there who help people. I called them and the man I spoke to was friendly and calm and explained how it could work. I look forward to speaking to homewise they keep me informed and will book viewings on houses I choose and handle agents, and they will be buying the house I want to live in for me. Thank you

My friend whose in her late 70's wanted to move nearer to her family as she needs more help now but didn't think she had enough money. I was told about Homewise by a family member so told her about it and she was so thrilled that she may have an option. They explained everything to her and made everything so easy. Her family were included in all the decision making and now she is going through the process of moving to a lovely new home near her family. I will miss her but I am so happy for her and her family.

My mum is now living alone. She’s only in her 70s so doesn’t need to live in a nursing home and didn’t want to move in with us, even though we offered. But she did want to move somewhere with better buses as she doesn’t drive anymore. The bungalow she found was really nice but after paying off her mortgage it was too expensive. Her estate agent told us about Homewise, and it was a lifesaver.

Got in contact with Homewise after my grandad was recommended to look into the plan by a friend of his, due to the age we thought we should check it over to make sure it was legit and that he had been told the right info. Called and spoke to the team who were so informative and helpful, they were very good at reassuring us. Especially helping with the whole chain. It made things so easy. Very good Thank you

Easy to understand once you have looked at the website, used the online calculator or (best of all) spoken to someone in the contact centre. Got a comprehensive quote and a tailored plan to suit my parents needs. My parents are not quite ready to move yet but will be in contact with these guys when they are. Great option if struggling to buy within own affordability.

The staff from Homewise were very helpful and professional throughout, which gave me confidence in the process. Any problems were resolved as quickly as possible, removing much stress from the house buying and selling process. Particularly reassuring was that the same staff dealt with the process throughout. Communication was swift and transparent. A superb company to deal with.

Beware of the pitfalls

Beware of the pitfalls: If you are unlucky enough pass away within a short time of moving to your new home the lease money will be not be returned so Homewise will end up with their house and your lease money. Also because you are responsible for repairs and maintenance on a property you don’t OWN you could end up spending thousands I.E Rewiring, replacing the boiler, new kitchen, bathroom etc.

Thank you for taking the time to review our product. Customer feedback is important to us to ensure we provide first-class service and clear communications, so we have reached out via Trustpilot to ask for further details on your experience with us as a customer, as there may have been a miscommunication along the way that can help resolve. The Home for Life Plan is designed to protect you, the customer, for the long term. While it is correct that you would not own the property itself, you would own a Lifetime Lease which provides the legal right and protection to live in a property of your choice (rent-free and mortgage-free) for your lifetime. You also have the opportunity to safeguard up to 50% of the property’s future value for your estate if you wish. As part of the property search process, we conduct due diligence on any property you want to live in prior to purchase. This includes surveys. So, any immediate issues to resolve would be flagged up front and are likely to deter you from choosing that property if you’re not looking for a project for example. Ultimately, it’s your home to live in and maintain as you would with any property you live in. You may choose to decorate and make changes to the property as time goes on; many Home for Life Plan customers will live in their chosen property for 20+ years. When the plan ends, the property is valued and any safeguarded percentage of the value at that time is paid to your estate. We hope this will of course be in many years’ time. A Home for Life Plan is not a government scheme and there is no financial lending. It is a long-term investment for Homewise and, with no rent or repayments ever paid, there is no return until the plan ends, and the property is vacated. We’re a family-run business and we provide choices to those aged 60 and over. It may not be the right option for everyone, but for those we do help it can be life-changing; to live debt-free and secure in a property/location they love and perhaps could not have previously afforded. We’re really proud of the service and solutions we offer, and we’d be happy to answer any questions you may have about how a Home for Life Plan may work for you at any time. Best regards, Raye (on behalf of Homewise)

Listing property without permission

How is it possible that this company can list my house for sale on Rightmove without my permission? I have had no contact with them at all. I have listed my property with a local estate agent and was shocked to see that Housewise has also listed my property for sale via themselves. I am seeking legal advice.

Jule · 1 May 2023 · Homewise Worthing (1 Liverpool Gardens)

Agent replied · 13 June 2024

We were sorry to learn of your experience and thank you for sharing the feedback. Please be assured that this is not the normal practice and as per our recent discussions the request to remove the optional second listing was actioned immediately. To explain why you saw the advert, we have partnerships with trusted Estate Agents across the country and they can offer their vendors (you) a free, optional, second listing on property portals such as Rightmove. This Homewise listing is detailed in the vendor agreement with your agent and the service is called ‘Market Plus’. You can opt out of Market Plus at any time. An additional listing can increase exposure for your property and generate greater interest from prospective buyers. The advertised Homewise guide price is an indication of what a Home for Life Plan could cost for a Homewise customer to live there. Don’t worry, if one of our customers chose your property you wouldn’t receive any less. Homewise would purchase the property from you like any other buyer and our customer would pay the lesser amount to us for the Home for Life Plan. I understand you’ve since spoken with your agent as, as you mentioned, you’re not a Homewise customer, and I hope they too were able to resolve any concerns you had. If you have further questions about the Homewise service or are aged 60+ and would like to know more about Homewise as a customer, please do get in touch directly at any time. Best regards, Raye (on behalf of Homewise)

House Sale 2023

I found the staff at JW Wood very professional, understanding and helpful, if the member of staff wasn't available to speak to there was always a call back the same day. They were informative with updates and kept us in the loop and would always ensure viewings at the premises would go ahead if we couldn't make them personally.

Friendly team

Recently spoke to homewise on behalf of my Nan who is looking to move after the passing of my granddad. With the house prices rising and living on a state pension she was concerned she wouldn’t be able to afford to live in her current property alone, so we were able to speak to homewise which offers an alternative to her. She can keep back money from the sale of her house to live in comfortably and still live an inheritance to us kids. Because of her boosted budget she can even look at moving closer to us! Thank you homewise.

We have requested a little more information via Trustpilot from you Mr Wood, to further understand the conversation you had with our team that has led to your rating of our service. Your feedback is very important to us and we’d like to help in any way we can. There may be some confusion that we are able to clarify, which may prove useful in your assessment of our product and service. It is correct that you would not own the property itself with our Home for Life Plan, however, there are many benefits to this option that many find to be the right solution in their circumstances. With a one-off payment, that is significantly less than the market value, you would purchase a Home for Life Plan to live in your chosen home, anywhere in England or Wales, rent-free and mortgage-free for your lifetime. It would be your home to enjoy and maintain, as with any property you may live in. You would also be able to safeguard up to 50% of the property’s future value to leave to your estate, as a guaranteed future inheritance, if you wish.Every Home for Life Plan is unique and tailored to your circumstances, but in many cases this saving may be more than £100,000, savings range from 8.5% - 59% for freehold properties and depend on personal circumstances and property criteria. Thanks to this saving, many of our customers will choose to clear previous debts, creates funds to enjoy in retirement, or gift any early inheritance. Or this can be seen as a ‘boost’, whereby you can secure a more expensive property than you could afford to buy yourself, not having to compromise and finding the ideal home for your retirement.Essentially, we provide choice and an alternative option that helps many people. We’re really proud of the service we offer and would welcome the opportunity to discuss how Homewise may be able to help you in the future. If you’d like to know more about our bespoke Home for Life Plan, please do get in touch directly at any time.Kind regards,DanielleOn behalf of Homewise
