TrustpilotThe very best support and extra cash for our new home purchase...
There are no words to describe how happy we are with our Homewise experience. Without them we could never have afforded our new forever home, a dream come true in our later life years. The worries and niggles along the way were salved with the help of Mikki Evans who was only a 'phone call away when we needed her advice. She has been an absolute professional throughout, and yet every interaction has been like talking with a member of our family. It is our firm opinion that we could not have moved without the help of Mikki and Homewise Ltd as they have made our dream come true. Thank you Mikki for your unwavering patience. TrustpilotHouse Purchase
I am sending this email on behalf of Nicholas Glover, who is currently being looked after by Homewise in the ongoing purchase of a property, Nicholas Glover is extremely pleased with the service so far in particular with the lady who is dealing with his case, Mrs. M Evans, who has been nothing but efficient and courteous in all the dealings with him. Mrs. Evans is a fine ambassador for the Homewise company.

I did some research into the Home for Life Plan as wanted to free up some funds to some work on my house to help my son with a house deposit. We are not planning to move currently, so it is not the right option for me. The person I spoke to was very helpful and talked me through the whole concept. I have to say I had no idea that there was such a clever solution available to help people release funds, keep a financial share in the property and secure a home for life. I felt I had to write a review because the company and product really impressed me.

TrustpilotMy friend moved to Portugal about 10…
My friend moved to Portugal about 10 years ago, but last year decided they wanted to come back and found that their property wasn’t worth anywhere near what they thought it would be. They’re both retired and live off their pension so I did a bit of research to find out if there was anything that could help and found Homewise. My friend called them to find out more. The Home for Life Plan gave them the lifeline they needed and in January they’re moving back to the UK.

TrustpilotThank you Homewise - best call I ever made!
With the price of everything going up so much I want to move somewhere easier to manage and less expensive to run, maybe a new build. I’ve found a few properties while searching, but they’re all more than I can afford. A friend of mine moved with Homewise a couple of years ago and when I told them about my problem they recommended it, saying it was the best decision they’d made. I did some research and called them straight away. They helped me to find a really nice new build that doesn’t need any work doing, which is a huge relief. Thank you, Homewise.

TrustpilotFinancial planning.
I retire in a few years, and I know that my pension pot isn’t quite as big as I’d like so I’ll probably have to downsize to cut costs, it would also be great to have some money put by. I got a letter from Homewise and initially it seemed like it was too good to be true, but then I called them. They explained everything about their Home for Life Plan to me and knowing that there is something available for me when I’m ready to retire is actually quite reassuring.

TrustpilotThe whole experience with Homewise was…one I never thought possible
The whole experience with Homewise was one of complete satisfaction - they helped me every tiny step of the way - sorted problems as they arose and enabled me to buy the property I so wanted after such a long struggle to afford or find one and the end result is a lovely home to enjoy and still leave a legacy to my daughter when the time comes.

TrustpilotWe used this service for our parents
We used this service for our parents, who were still in the family home which was too big for just the two of them, and they still had some mortgage left, which none of us were in a position to pay off. We talked everything through with them, and they included us all, explaining the lease info and it seemed a logical step for mum and dad. They could sell the house, pay off the mortgage, move nearer to us and have a bit of money put by. We took our time as a family to look for options, but we can honestly say this has worked out perfectly for the whole family and we couldn't be happier. Thanks for all your help!

TrustpilotThe Homewise option
I researched the Homewise option way before my 60th birthday because my personal circumstances reduced my retirement saving target when I was medically retired. As I have no blood relatives Homewise is the perfect solution for me and I am now living in a bungalow I would not have been able to afford had I used my savings in the traditional way. From day 1 I felt totally supported every step of the way and the whole timeline of finding a property to actually moving in was and felt totally controlled and supported. If the Homewise process fits your circumstances and you enter the process with your eyes open and fully informed it is an excellent way to find your retirement dream home. Do your homework and be sure you understand the implications of what you are doing and it’s an excellent option.

TrustpilotDon’t bother even looking
Unbelievable experience trying to secure student housing for 23/24. Was told we couldn’t get any information and had to wait for the properties to launch. Checked website every 10 minutes every day. They launched and instantly every one of the 100 plus properties already had applications on. How is that even possible? Terrible agent.

TrustpilotI found them intimidating and friendly…
I found them intimidating and friendly at the same time, a dangerous combination. They knew I was vulnerable unless the general public don't understand "approaching the need for dialysis" and argued I wasn't because I understood the agreement. You may understand but unless your family are with you or you have good support don't deal with them if you are desperate. Homewise please do not contact me as I found it too distressing to talk about and I'm recovering from a renal transplant. Thank you.

TrustpilotThe Homewise model fitted my needs perfectly
The Homewise model fitted my needs and worked perfectly for me. I completed my research before contacting the company so approached the process with my eyes wide open. I felt supported in my property search from Day 1 and although I expected to feel daunted by the prospect of searching for and buying a property, the Homewise team supported me at every stage, providing sensible advice throughout the process. I found my dream property and am so happy. If the Homewise model works for you, so could you be!

TrustpilotBarely Legal And Immoral
This company needs investigating.Ok you may get a home for the rest of your life but you have to maintain it and pay all the expenses. You may have paid a bit lower than market price but when you die and property is empty, they get the property so you have paid them for the property and they also get the property when you die! How can that be a legal and moral way to conduct business?Thankfully I saw through the scheme and did not take it up.Basically they are preying on desperate older people with this barely legal and immoral scheme. The law needs changing.I would advise you not to touch Homewise with a barge pole!

Thank you for your feedback Mr Tanner, although I am sorry to see you’ve not been pleased with the service you received. I do think there has been some confusion as to what Homewise does and how we help people, so I wanted to take the opportunity to explain in a little more detail. We help people secure their next home for less than the market price, this is through the purchase of a Lifetime Lease (as part of our “Home for Life Plan”). Put simply, Homewise would purchase a property of your choice (that’s being sold on the open market anywhere in England or Wales) for the full agreed selling price, and you pay a one-off sum to purchase the Lifetime Lease (the cost of which is always less than the full market value) to live there. The Lifetime Lease is registered at the Land Registry, providing you with the legal right to live there (rent-free and mortgage-free) for your lifetime. This is your home and yes you would pay the general household bills to live there (like with any property) but, while you wouldn’t own the property itself, there are many benefits to choosing a Lifetime Lease. For example, being able to live in a property or location that was otherwise unaffordable, not needing to put all your funds into the purchase (therefore being able to create savings to enjoy in retirement), being able to live debt-free and without ongoing financial burdens, as well as having the option to safeguard a guaranteed inheritance for loved ones too, if you wish.A key part of our service is to get to know our customers and ensure they have the right information to make an informed decision. Every plan is tailored to the individual, focusing on their needs and wants, including what they hope to achieve by moving (such as relocating to a more expensive area, clearing previous debts and mortgages, gifting an early inheritance, or creating savings and so on). If you are looking to own the property and can afford to buy it outright (and live comfortably in retirement), we would always encourage you to do so. It is your choice entirely. Please be assured Mr Tanner we are not here to prey on anyone, and we have stringent processes in place to ensure our customers’ best interests are always protected. This includes the Lifetime Lease being registered at the Land Registry, the encouragement of family involvement throughout every step of the process so everyone is happy with the decision, and the role your chosen solicitor will play. We cannot proceed with a Home for Life Plan without your solicitor (independently chosen and acting on your behalf) agreeing that all parties understand the agreement and signing a certificate which enables the purchase of the Lifetime Lease to proceed. We know a Lifetime Lease option won’t be the right solution for everyone, but for those we do help it can be life changing. As a family run business, we know how important it is to look after customers and ensure they have the security they so deserve for their future. We’ve been helping people find the right home for more than 50 years and are immensely proud of the high-quality service we provide. This is echoed in the independent reviews we receive from our customers on Feefo, rating the service 4.8 out of 5 stars, on average.Feedback is important to us so if there were ways you feel we can improve the service you received do please let us know directly at any time.I hope this helped clarify how we help people find and secure their next home, but we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your options with you again Mr Tanner, please do not hesitate to contact our team.We wish you all the best for your property search and are here to help should you wish to get in touch in the future.Kindest regards, Rachel (on behalf of Homewise)

GoogleI called these guys to discuss their product on behalf of my mum. I don't think it's for us but I was impressed that they were so clear and factual about what they were offering. If you expect them to be a social charity to give you free money to buy a lovely house you will be very disappoinred but if you approach this on the basis that you are dealing with a for-profit business, it will make a lot of sense for some people to get the home they want and more importantly security to live there long term. Even though this isn't for us, I wouldn't give it 1 star as some have because they are pretty up front about what they offer. I suspect people who have left very low review scores approached this service with unrealistic expectations.

Vile buying experience when purchasing our first home. We were not treated seriously by the agent in a little Aygo.

GoogleAs a 60 year old couple with no inheritance concerns we thought this an ideal way to release capital for our retirement. However, being 'young' meant we were only entitled to the lowest equity release rate. Only after much questioning did we find out that for a measly £39,000 Homewise would end up with a house purchased for £300,000 not taking into account any rises in the property market! A £260,000 present for them!!NegativeValue

Thank you for your feedback Mr Taylor, although I am sorry to see you were unhappy with the estimate. There may have been a misunderstanding about the Home for Life Plan, so I wanted to reply personally.
Through Homewise you can purchase a Lifetime Lease on pretty much any property on the open market, it’s not equity release and can only be used when moving home. With a Lifetime Lease, people aged 60+ can boost their budget and pay a one-off amount (that's always less than the market value) to live rent-free and mortgage-free in a property of their choice.
We help many people in different situations, but we understand it may not be the right solution for everyone. For many a boost of £39,000 can mean the difference between a flat or a house, the ideal location or a compromise, a garden, and the extra bedroom they desire, and we’re really proud to help our customers achieve whatever goals they are hoping for. It may not have been discussed when you talked to our team, but did you know you can also create extra savings and do not necessarily have to use all of your current budget to fund your move, if a boost could help you secure the right property?
A Lifetime Lease can benefit your current situation but is primarily an option for future security, knowing you could live in the perfect property for 30+ years free from financial burdens. We know it isn’t the perfect choice for everyone and if you’re able to achieve your goals within your current affordability then that is of course the best option for you.
I hope this goes some way to explain a little more about how we help people Mr Taylor, and please do contact us directly should you have any questions about how we may be able to help you.
Best regards, Jessie
