GoogleStonehouse has been very helpful in my pursuit of a flat in Aberdeen. I had a fairly complicated situation and they were excellent in helping it be a smooth experience. In particular Jemma Watts was an absolute super star and I recommend her whole heartedly!

GoogleI didn’t have much interaction with stonehouse whilst I rented my property as I knew the landlord, so any issues that arose we sorted it out amongst eachother. So all and all pleasant. That however is when the pleasantries stop. It has been 5 months since leaving the property, and not only have I not received my deposit back, but they are refusing to answer my calls and emails. I hired a cleaner for the property before leaving so I know the flat was left to a high standard, but like many others who have left reviews, stonehouse emailed me with many points that were (according to them) of an “unsatisfactory level”. Two of which included the fact that I replaced the shower curtain with a new one due to natural wear and tear because it had mould on it. Secondly, that I left pieces of very nice furniture that the landlord and I agreed upon leaving until my return to the U.K., so the new tenant could enjoy them instead of then being in storage. If you are a landlord contemplating choosing stonehouse to with your property, or if you are a tenant who it interested in renting from stonehouse, i would completely avoid if you want any level of care, customer service or bare minimum respect towards the end of your business. I know from the landlord side of things, their hidden rates are through the roof and there are so many sneaky costs that they add on..even though so work seems to be done on their end. From someone who has rented properties of high standards, in many different cities across Scotland, I have never come across an agency who totally disregard a client at the end, and blatantly as well as continuously ignore you towards the end. Stay absolutely clear of stonehouse if you want to come away from the transaction with even a penny.

Gill was even emailing me out of her working hours to keep me updated about my flat application. I really appreciate all of her help!

GoogleWorse rental experience in my life. We were spend a lot times for calling to refund our money back and receive answers but our property manager totally ignored us . Personal which working there totally doesn’t respect customers! when we left apartments we did amazing cleaning matching better then when we arrived to this flat ! But Stonehouse anyway deducted money for cleaning - 125£ !Scam agency if you avoid them you will saving your nervous system!

GoogleAVOID STONEHOUSE if you are renting a property! They will try to deduct ridiculous amounts of your deposit without explanation and stop answering emails once you leave the rented property. During my tenancy, they were pretty slow to solve minor issues. At the end of the tenancy, I paid £300 for a professional end-of-tenancy cleaning service that included carpet cleaning and a 7-day guarantee to go back and clean any issues raised after the final inventory. Some minor issues (e.g. dust on sockets) were raised. As the inventory returned within the 7-day policy, the cleaning company and I tried to contact Stonehouse (I sent several emails to Paige Wilson and even to Aileen Merchant, the managing director), and they never answered our emails and calls. They wanted to deduct £260 for "cleaning" the property. I don't believe it ever happened, as they rent the property a couple of days after we left. We had a dispute for the deposit they wanted to deduct with an independent assessor, after which we received the full deposit. It almost took five months between leaving the property and getting our full deposit back... a nightmare company! I have rented with three companies in Aberdeen, and Stonehouse is by far the worst. How they treat tenants is shameful, unprofessional and rude.

GoogleSupremely unhelpful. Online booking only is massively frustrating. When I called the office, the staff were rude and unhelpful. Not able to help arrange a viewing or answer questions. Do not use.

Supported me and went out their way to source potential properties for me. Application was handled smoothly. Really quick and efficient. GoogleThis is a truly horrible company. The worst experience I've had as a tenant. Very unorganised, always a different person answering e-mails. They will try everything they can to not repay your deposit including trying to make you use their cleaning company which is illegal. I would never consider renting one of their flats ever again and I would stay away as a landlord as well

GoogleWe have only just moved into one of their properties. The blinds fell down, extractor doesn't work, there has been no water since Sunday and they're not sending someone until Friday! We can't clean, wash dishes, the bathroom got torn apart by a plumber who said they didnt put a thermostat in the pipes so there is only ever scalding hot water. Pipe burst, scalding water was spraying everywhere. Pipes still haven't been fixed. Were humans who are paying to live here, I'm outraged. I very strongly DO NOT recommended this company.

GoogleDoing a a simple change of tenancy has been the most stressful experience with DJ Alexander. Their emails always came across as quite hostile and threatening for no apparent reason. Every time they asked us to fill in forms and gather documents, they always gave us unrealistic deadlines of 48hrs, which makes things unnecessarily stressful. They even wrote the WRONG rent amount on the draft lease, thankfully we noticed! When we needed to ask an extension of a few days to give more time to our guarantor to gather their income documents from their workplace, they threatened us to CANCEL the whole application and make us move out!? They threatened to cancel our application even though we were doing this process more than a month in advance! They say we need to adhere to strict deadlines to give time to their admin process before the move in date, and yet they completed everything after a single day after we submitted everything… so why such strict deadlines and threats when we have more than 30 days of time before moving in? I’ve done a change of tenancy with the same flat but a DIFFERENT agency before and it was simple and stress free. DJ Alexander makes everything so unnecessarily stressful.

GoogleWe are so very grateful to DJ Alexander Edinburgh but most especially Ashley. She has been amazingly supportive, incredibly caring and such a huge help to our daughter and us. Our daughter has been having such a roller coaster journey trying to rent a property for her third year at University in what is a very crazy rental market at the moment. Ashley has gone above and beyond to do anything she can to help and as we live 500 miles away on the south coast of England having her support has been an absolute godsend. Her communication has been fantastic and we have felt reassured during every step of the process. We are now in the very happy position of having found a fantastic property and are looking forward to having Ashley as our property manager going forward. We feel very lucky to have found a property manager who cares so much. We have also found the credit reference and guarantor check process to be incredibly smooth and accessible. This company are only interested in getting their management fees.The have zero interest in ensuring their landlords comply with current legislations.They have zero interest in the health and safety of their tenants.They don't do their due diligence on properties they take on and their customer care is non existent.The repairs and maintenance team provide a very poor service.If you value your health don't let a property from them, go to a reputable agency

I am writing this review after almost experiencing DJ for more then 2months. We have moved to a home in April and have reported few issues(both major and minor) The team still keeps asking us to share photos which we have done multiple times. What I feel is they really are worst when it comes to how to deal with tenants. Worst experience ever.
