Our experience with DJ Alexander Estate and Letting Agents was a very pleasant one. Diane Harte in particular was very helpful in setting up viewing appointments and giving all the information about the property to help us make an informed decision. She also was also on hand to help us check in to our new home and she showed us around and explained all we needed to know about the property as well as answer all our questions. I recommend them any time.

Stay Away : The Worst Agency in Scotland I recently had a highly disappointing experience with D.J. Alexander Real Estate Agency during my three-month stay in one of their apartments. From the very beginning, I encountered multiple issues that left me feeling frustrated and unsatisfied. When I moved into the apartment, I was shocked to find that the oven was filthy and the toilet floors were uncleaned. To make matters worse, there were used razors and soaps left in the bathroom. Throughout my tenancy, I had to personally clean up the mess left behind and ensure the apartment was in an acceptable condition. However, this effort seemed to be in vain. Upon moving out, I was denied the return of my deposit. The agency claimed that repairs were needed for doors and for cleaning, even though the doors were in the same condition as before and I had left the apartment spotless. This experience left me feeling frustrated and disheartened by the lack of professionalism and integrity displayed by D.J. Alexander. I am deeply disappointed that I had to deal with such unprofessionalism and disregard for tenants' rights. I strongly advise anyone considering renting from this agency to think twice before making a commitment. My encounter with D.J. Alexander has been nothing short of disappointing, and I believe potential renters deserve better treatment and service than what I experienced.

Having had more Edinburgh flat viewings than most, I wanted to share that I found James a real breath of fresh air as an agent - usually I prefer seller viewings, they're more relaxed and you get a more realistic insight. But from the off James treats you like a human, listening and taking on board your feedback, along with your priorities. This means he can advise accordingly and give you extra helpful info, rather than a robotic salespitch. He's genuine and also more transparent re offer expectations. For someone who finds Scottish closing dates off-putting this is really appreciated. James' kind and cheerful courtesy also stands out and much improves the whole viewing experience. It also means the property sticks in your mind more 😊 Thank you James!

No support for emergencies

The biggest challenge in dealing with DJ Alexander is getting any emergency repair and maintenance, as no one is available to talk. You have to report it to the online system and then wait for their response.Today, in the middle of the day, we found that the gas hob was sparking continuously and reported immediately, as we could not cook. The same electric switch is for the oven as well and can’t keep it on due to safety. Now it is 5:30 pm and still did not get any response. Basically, I am afraid of the future if any serious emergency occurs other than this oven and hob issue! I can’t think of it!!Contacted the owner; we were told to contact DJ Alexander. Fair enough and can’t fault the owner. Given this experience, I would prefer to rent directly from the owner rather than from a commercial agent. At least we will get some support in the event of emergencies.

In particular, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Lynsey Burr and Giulia Ceccarelli, who went above and beyond to help me out of a tight spot.On the day of my move, I accidentally left my keys in a bag, which was loaded onto the moving van headed for Edinburgh. To make matters worse, my train was scheduled to reach Edinburgh late at night, which meant I would be stranded outside my new home without a way to get in.In my panic, I reached out to DJ Alexander and was fortunate enough to speak to Lynsey and Giulia. Peace of mind property management’

I have used DJ Alexander for a number of years to manage tenancies in my Edinburgh flat and find them very proficient and reliable. They are well organised with a single point of contact from the landlord’s point of view and any issues that arise from both tenant and landlord are swiftly dealt with. They keep on top of all the legislative requirements involved in letting a property (gas cert, legionella test, electrical condition tests, Pat tests, etc). They have a property maintenance facility which can be deployed to fix small problems at short notice.Their billing / accounting system works well and is easily understood.Staff are very approachable and seem happy in their work which makes me think they’re good to work for too.
