I would never rent with Northwood again. The staff were consistently unhelpful when we raised issues, and no part of our experience with them was smooth or straightforward. Throughout our tenancy, it felt as though they were more focused on extracting as much money as possible rather than providing a fair or supportive service. We repeatedly had to challenge and dispute their claims, which was stressful and time-consuming. Overall, this has been one of the worst letting agencies I’ve dealt with. I strongly recommend saving yourself the trouble and looking elsewhere.

Extremely Unprofessional and Disappointing Experience with Northwood St.albans I was due to move into a new property managed by Northwood in just four days when, quite out of the blue, one of my housemates received a call informing us that we would no longer be given the house. The only explanation we were initially given was that there was “some trouble with the property.” This last-minute cancellation left all six of us, who were fully prepared to move in, suddenly without accommodation and desperately searching for somewhere else to stay. Their initial response amounted to little more than an apology, with no meaningful effort to assist us or offer an alternative. Although our holding deposit was returned, the stress and uncertainty during that period were significant. After leaving my review, the manager did contact me personally to discuss what had happened. I appreciated this gesture, as it showed that at least someone within the team recognised the seriousness of the situation. He asked about our current circumstances and provided additional reasons for the cancellation, information we had not been given at the time we were refused the property. This follow-up communication was certainly a step in the right direction and is worth acknowledging. However, better communication from the outset could have prevented a great deal of unnecessary distress. I would still urge prospective tenants to proceed with caution, as our experience was far more chaotic than it needed to be. Anyways, Goodluck for their business and thanks for enquiring about the current situation.

I cannot rate Northwood Estate Agents St Albans highly enough! I was a first time buyer looking for a property in the area and David Lees was a fantastic estate agent right the way through from viewing to completion (and even after). David and the team conducted themselves professionally throughout the transaction and were transparent and courteous with all dealings we had with them. Amazingly, David was also reachable when he was on holiday and continued to progress matters whilst abroad. I also feel Northwood were the main driving force keeping the momentum going so we could complete as quickly as possible even when solicitors and other parties were dragging their heels. A special thank you to Tim Leighton also, who was fully equipped to deal with matters when David was out of the office. I would definitely use Northwood Estate Agents again.

We had previously let out our flat through Northwoods and had received exceptional service from Tim. When we decided to sell, although we got several quotes from various estate agents Tim and David at Northwoods were the most professional and knowledgeable. From the outset the experience of dealing with Northwoods was excellent. The professional pictures of our flat were brilliant and far better than those we received when we put our flat on the market a year earlier with a different estate agent. Viewings were managed very well and were arranged with minimal inconvenience for our tenants. David was our main contact for the sales process and we could rely on him to keep us up to date, always be available for advice and to help progress the sale. He went over and above what was required of him and we would honestly never have got to completion when we did without his help. His expertise in dealing with our incredibly unhelpful solicitor was invaluable! I would not hesitate to recommend Tim and David to anyone and will definitely use them again if we ever have another property in St Albans.
