GoogleThe most extortionate of fees out of any company I have ever tried to rent off.
They wanted to charge £700 just for a reference fee for 2 people. When I pointed out that these credit checks only cost £25 a person I was hung up on.
They don’t see tenants as people, just walking £££ signs

As a business we work hard to provide our customers and potential customers with a great experience so it's disappointing to hear that you feel the team in Reading have not been able to do this for you. We're sorry to read that you feel Romans fees are expensive when compared with other agents you have used, we are a clear and transparent agent that display our fee’s publicly in branch as well as online and we do not add any hidden fees later on down the line of any tenancy. Within our Tenancy fee documentation it does highlight that our Standard Let fee is £499 inclusive of VAT per property which includes one tenant reference and that each person added to the tenancy will result in an additional £199 inclusive of VAT. Within this documentation it also notes that the fees include immigration and visa confirmation, financial credit checks, obtaining reference from current or previous employer, previous or existing landlord as well as a contribution towards the setting up of the tenancy and the compilation and exchanging of the tenancy agreement. In respect of your comments where you state that you were hung up on by a member of the team during a phone call I am unable to confirm or deny whether this happened without looking into this further but can appreciate if it had why you would be disappointed as a result of this. Please can you advise which member of the team that you spoke with? this will allow us the chance to investigate this further with the member of staff directly. They took my deposit despite cleaning the house for days on end. It was totally spotless and better than when I first rented the house. No damage either... they claimed they had to send in a cleaning crew although could not say what needed to be cleaned. Corrupt.
