Beware! I rented a property for 6 months in the Plymouth area. On collecting the keys I was told the bathroom door was still broken and needed to be repaired in which they would organise. I was happy with the property to begin with until the cracks they covered with paint I.e the damp mould became visible. The second bedroom then started to have a crack and a leak in the ceiling which I reported and contacted them several times but nobody came assess after 6 weeks towards the end of my tenancy. It was a massive health and safety risk as the ceiling started to bend and had to cancel my family visiting. I was told on initially reporting the problem that I was liable as I didn’t report it sooner even though I reported it as soon as the problem started. I decided to end the tenancy as I was unhappy with the condition of the property and the lack of maintenance for the problems I addressed with them. I was concerned about their cowboy behaviour so I had the property professionally cleaned in order to receive my deposit back. However after the final inspection they then stated I left the property unclean and had broken the bathroom door which was already broken before I moved in. I took this further and provided evidence to show my story and successfully received my deposit back which no apology. I don’t normally write reviews but I would just like to make future tenants aware of the risk that they are taking with this company.

This substantial terraced house property offers exceptionally spacious and versatile accommodation arranged over several floors, making it particularly well suited to multi-generational living or buyers seeking flexible living and working space. Unfurnished, available now!
These adverts were as misleading as could possibly be.
The first one was covered in damp and mould, most of downstairs looking tired and broken. Back sliding door to parking looked broken and insecure. We asked to leave before even going upstairs. Also found the property on booking.com and similar reviews of late but to be fair the agent not dealing with the booking.com adverts. Photos on agent website and description immensely incorrect.
The second one initially looked better as we stepped inside but unfurnished and available now also misleading. Lots of furniture left all over the place, one room full of boxes and I've never seen so many picture hooks in walls. Also featured certain areas of damp and peeling paint and broken floor on entering lounge. The viewing ended very quickly.
The agent showing us around said it was first time anyone from agency had been inside them. If so then suggest they review the way they appraise and market properties as this does their reputation no good whatsoever.
Normally I leave google reviews for positive stuff but apart from the great way their sales office made appointments I have nothing good to say about Martin & Co. Beware if you plan to rent a property from them if not viewing first as you could be in for a nasty surprise!

The purchase was quite a tricky one to say the least, I know it would never have completed if it wasn’t for the support which I had a few months aftet my offer. Prior to this the sales team Janine and Jenny were lovely I had a few viewings, with them both. Amelia was on board with the after sales and without her additional professional input I know that this purchase would have been lost. Amelia is a star in the making. I also spoke with a gentleman I think he was called Ade, and although he wasn’t really involved in the sale, he was extremely pleasant and every message that I left via him was responded to.
