We are very appreciated for their service in helping us to rent a good house in Abingdon for our family. The communications are very smooth and highly efficient. The instructions are very clear and easy to execute. The commitments and the promisiss are inline with their claim. The support are very effective and helpful. Overall, we have very good experience with College and Country. We definitely will recommend to our friends who mighr need similar services.

They discriminate severely when renting properties. They state that there are criteria for matching the tenant with the property, but fail to disclose what that actually means. On top of that, they had viewings from couples when the property had authorization for a single occupant.

Dear Alice, Please remove this review as it is unfounded and inaccruate. I appreicate the Oxford market can be frustrating and I am sorry that you were unsuccessful in getting the property you wanted, but to claim this was due to discrimination is wholey untrue and libellous. As we have explained we do not work on a first come first serve basis. Our job is to find the best tenant for any property and as such we ask applicants to email over an introduction to be shared with the landlord. The landlord then decides which application to proceed with and on this occasion went with someone else. My team have offered to assist you with your search and to help you find an alternative. Kind regards David (Director)

One of the better ones. They definitively know what they are doing, and are on it. They do send a horrible load of emails and work with a not very functional web-service for the contract, however, I guess this is better than zero or late communication. They also make up for technical glitches with extremely helpful and kind staff. The down-side of them being on it is of course that there is little flexibility - everyone has to act according to the rules (e.g. they will make you move out of your house at the end of your yearly contract if more than 2 people in the tenancy agreement change; but they will give the house a deep clean and make sure the inventory is fine). So overall good!

Overall we didn't encounter any problems during our tenancy, the staff were fast to respond to technical issues and queries, and were generally very friendly. However being asked to pay £110 (each!) on a cleaning service to clean our small flat in order to meet their 'suitable' standards before moving out is beyond ridiculous. On top of this, we were charged £20 each for the removal of a binbag's worth of recyclable waste (small left- behind kitchen ware). Although £20 isn't a substantial amount, you would think that us paying an extortionate £110 each on a cleaner should cover an extremely minor inconvenience such as this. Meaning that unless you happen to be a professional cleaner while owning an array of advanced cleaning equipment, expect to spend £100+ to get your full deposit back. So to sum it all up, it was a pleasant stress-free tenancy, despite the unethical practices to snatch some extra coin from students towards the end.

Thank you Jacob for taking the time to post a review. I am delighted that your tenancy was "stress free" until the end. I would however point out that any proposals for deductions come from your landlord not from us. Also, if you disagree with the proposals, we can help to mediate a solution. As you will be aware, the property was professionally cleaned before you took occupation, and we ask that you do the same on determination. Your Property Manager will have sent you a list of approved cleaners and with 85% of our student properties the tenants themselves arrange cleaning. Please do call me if you still feel my team have been less than ethical, and I will investigate further? Mark Crampton Smith - Managing Director

I had a great experience with College and County and highly recommend them to anyone looking for an exceptional agent in the Oxford area. During my search for a place in Oxford I quickly realized that great letting agencies were few and far in-between, so it was a pleasant surprise finding a place with College and County as the agent. They were quick to answer my emails and phone calls, as well as very informative and accommodating during our discussions (I was specifically communicating with Danielle and she was lovely). Although I didn't end up going with the place (since I was offered college accommodations last-minute), I would still highly recommend them to anyone, student or professional, looking for a great agent in Oxford.

Have been renting with C&C for almost 6 months now, and its been a very easy and pleasant experience. The staff are so nice and helpful, and very quick to respond to all our concerns! We've had loads of people come within days whenever we mention a problem. Compared to our other letting agency, they have been a dreaaaam and made our time in our little house so nice! Actually really recommend them to other students.

As a student in Oxford for the last six+ years, I've rented with a few agencies. College & County are the best by far of those I've used; a friendly team who respond swiftly to any issues or requests from their tenants. With renting prices as expensive as they are in the city, you want to make sure you have an agency like College & County making sure your rent is as stress-free as possible. Would recommend, especially to any post-graduate students out there.

Me and my husband were tenants of a property let & managed by College and County for a year, and we were truly satisfied to work with them from the first day to the last. It was our first house rental experience in the UK and we were a little bit worried at first. Reading the comments here, I thought it might be a struggle to get the deposit back at the end of the tenancy. But they were very responsive and resolved our enquires in no time. We discussed every detail with Chris to finalize our tenancy and he was very helpful about recommending the right things. It only took a week to get the deposit back after the checkout. It was a wonderful tenancy experience for us, I highly recommend C&C.

Fantastic letting agents from start to finish. Definitely the best experience we've had renting in Oxford, with prompt responses to issues as well as a very friendly and reasonable attitude to it all. College and County has an intimate small-agency feel, especially with Maja, but is also willing to spend the time and money to get things done right. We were very happy to call it home for the past three years, and we will definitely miss the place.

Thank you for taking the time to recommend us. I am delighted that you have had such a positive experience in one of the properties that we manage. Of course it is in the interests of our landlord clients that we look after their property and tenants with care. if you had not had a positive experience you might quite reasonably have moved on after a year and my client might have suffered a void period? A strong reputation with tenants ensures that void periods are kept to an absolute minimum.

I have rented from 11+ different landlords and letting agents across the country over the last 11 years and College and County have been the best by a mile. From day one, they accommodated our needs which included needing to be one of the first to view the property, sent clear information to me as only my partner was able to attend the viewing. Even prior to the new legislation coming into place surrounding certain fees, college and county did not charge for many of the fees that other companies would and those they did charge were very small comparatively. I was not living in the area at the time and they were very patient and communicated with the landlord for me regarding me coming into the office to provide my passport etc after the initial deadline. when I did come, they immediately knew who I was and what property I was there in relation to, which demonstrated a great level of professionalism and customer focus. The landlord we rent from has also been brilliant and there have been no issues, however I am confident that if there had been and this had been a property owned by College and County, that they would have been more than happy to help. furthermore, they have been great at keeping us updated as tenants and being transparent about the renewal of contracts/the partial returning of a deposit from the first to second contract year. Their staff have always replied to any communication in a friendly and prompt way. genuinely could not recommend this company Highly enough.

In the past, I had really bad (I mean REALLY bad) experiences with letting agencies and like most people renting in Oxford I was very reluctant to rent a flat again via a letting agency. College and County, however, were the absolute best. The Team is so responsive and friendly and warm. I felt really well taken care off and I am a bit sad now that I wont be in touch with them anymore as I have moved on to College owned accommodation. I cannot recommend them more. Meryem

Probably one of the worst agencies in Oxford. Even though the house was completely new, the first night I moved, I had a huge leak (from the shower upstairs) on my whole wardrobe and they didn't refund me anything (despite the fact lots of my stuff was damaged!). In addition, once the tenancy finished, they gave back part of my deposit to one of my ex-flatmate WITHOUT MY AUTHORISATION. Even if I previously informed the agency that girl had problems with the management of money, mental illness (with written evidence!) and I specified that I wanted that MY MONEY was returned to me and NOT TO UNKNOWN PEOPLE (as it is logical), they ignored me. Obviously, this girl disappeared with the entire deposit. So now, thanks to College and County, I lost a considerable amount of money. So, if you are dealing with this agency, please stay away from it, especially if you care about your money.

Vittoria · 8 February 2020

Agent replied

Ms Pighi, As you know, (it is on all documentation including the tenancy agreement and in the FAQ) we return all deposit monies held to the head tenant. The whole group was contacted six or seven weeks before the tenancy end to confirm your agreement. You did not object at any stage. You need to take this matter up with your housemates; if you consider that one of your former housemates has "stolen" your share of the deposit held, perhaps you should report the matter to the police? As far as the leak from the shower is concerned, there was no request for any compensation received either by us as managing agents nor by your landlord. As you know, the leak was fixed immediately it was reported, and had there been any issue of damage to personal belongings, we would of course passed this on to our client for consideration.

An excellent and supportive partner in letting property. I have no hesitation in recommending College and County. I have been with them for nearly 10 years and am very satisfied with their timely and thorough dealing with admin and keeping me in the loop all the time. I have been especially impressed with Maja Szczotka who has inspected our property regularly and given us sound and sensible advice on any maintenance issues and helped sort out any issues. And Tina who also arranges for reliable contractors when needed. They have both been stars. We do not need to worry about our property let because we are confident it is in good hands. All the staff are friendly and try their best to provide a high quality service. We so pleased we chose College and County. Thank you all.

We rented a postgraduate/professional property with College and County for 4 years. In the main, they were very efficient in responding to emails and trying to sort out any issues we had. Switching tenants in some of the rooms went very smoothly. The check-out was also smooth and the majority of our deposit was returned. With a few recurring issues, we did need to send reminders to try to get them sorted and make sure they didn't fall off the bottom of their to-do list. Overall, I would recommend renting through College and County to others. Much better service than previous agencies - especially from Sonali towards the end of our tenancy!

I think some of the previous comments that they were good at fixing/ covering the symptoms of problems rather than addressing the root cause seem fair. Apart from that, I know of someone who had to pay 3 months' rent upfront (I was told that he could have been asked to pay 6 months' rent upfront but C&C was being kind not to ask that) because he had been in a live in job for some years, though before he took up that live in job he had been a regular rent paying tenant of model behaviour. There are so many other letting agencies in Oxford and I really would recommend everyone to look and compare carefully before signing up with any letting agent. If there was an option to give no star I would have taken up that option. There are so many other letting agents in Oxford so people should really look around.

My overlall experiences with College & County have been positive to this day. The team members are very friendly, helpful and especially flexible and react promptly to inquiries in most cases. I give four out of five stars, because I had a couple of situations where the symptoms of a problem were tackled rather than the problem itself (i.e. short-term soltuntions istead of proper fixing). Luckily, these have been solved properly in the end. All in all I would recommend College & County.
