College and County are professional, well-organized and friendly. They respond promptly to all our enquiries. The whole process of viewing, contracts, moving in etc. went very smoothly. I have dealt with many letting agencies over the years. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
Ian, thank you for your feedback...... I know that the team consider good customer service to be of paramount importance, and constantly strive for excellence. I am delighted that you are able to commend us.

I've been with College & County for three years as tenant. During these three years, the quality of service I've received from this agency has ranged from pleasant, understanding and flexible to downright incompetent. Pros: * They are a friendly bunch, and are generally easy to reach when you have problems. * They are usually on the ball when you call them to sort out payments, etc. * The have been flexible in the past on issues relating to contract renewals, notable by waiving admin fees. Cons: * They will often send slightly incompetent contractors, not follow up on shoddy jobs, or not give the contractor the info needed (i.e. half of what was meant to be repaired was repaired). * They will often forget to tell tenant details of contractor's visits. More than once have I had electricians come and shut off electricity throughout the house when we were told they were just coming to check an alarm or something. Not so pleasant when you're working from home. * As far as lettings agencies in Oxford go, the sign-up fees are a little steep. If the above points were where the story ends, this firm deserves a solid 4 star review. However, please see below. * MOST IMPORTANTLY: these people do NOT understand the landlord tenant act. The contract you sign entitles you to sublet your room subject to the landlord's approval, which will not be unreasonable withheld. C&C claim that this constitutes a change in tenancy agreement (which it does not, under the act) and that the sublettee is effectively a new tenant. They therefore impose obscene charges, and ignore any communication pointing out that they are incorrect. This effectively prevents you from exercising your right to sublet. Overall, probably not the worst lettings agency in Oxford, but the incidents in the last year have left a sour taste in my moth and an overall bad impression of what I used to think was, and probably used to be, a decent lettings agency. The agency have been in contact with me over the contents of this review, and state that they will look into improving some of the issues presented therein. They maintain their position on the issue of the sublet fee. Caveat emptor if you think you'll need this capability, which is offered by nearby agencies.

I have been renting a few properties around UK for a few years now. College and County is definitely one of the best agencies I have had a contact with. The staff is friendly. They do not try to make you pay some "extra charges" (as some others do). Overall, I am happy with them. The office is conveniently located and I can always pop in if I have some problem. And they normally solve the problem really efficiently.

One of the best in Oxford. Fast, effective, friendly and professional. Work with serious landlords in good homes. All friends and friends of friends have heard this agency is fair and affordable. Great reputation, and from my experience this year I am impressed.
Dear Theo, thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. Our reputation as an ethical agent is very important to us at a time when landlords and agents are in the political firing line. I firmly believe that peer to peer commendation is the future of how goods and services will be accessed.......so you can understand why I am delighted by your review. I will ensure that my team are advised of your review.

As a student at Oxford I rented with College and County for two years, and have only good things to say. I've heard horror stories from friends about other agencies, but C&C were efficient, professional, and nice to work with.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review Noah. In seeking to be both Ethical and Sustainable as a business, we are convinced that the future of choosing goods and services will increasingly be guided by peer review. It is therefore of critical importance to us that all our customers, (both Landlords and tenants) have their expectations exceeded by the service we provide.

College and County have provided an extremely professional service for me over the last 8 years. Communication is spot on and always there to offer advice on the state of the local market.

My experience of working with College and County was excellent. Members of staff were very helpful, understanding and responsive. If I needed help with anything at my house, it was offered. Periodic property inspections were actually quite enjoyable, like having friends around.
Barbara, thank you for posting a review. I am delighted that the team have been so helpful and responsive. Mark Crampton Smith

The C&C team are friendly, always willing to help and reliable. I have had no issues as a tenant with fees, maintainence or deposit schemes. I would reccomend them for long-term letting as there are no renewal fees which really sets them apart from the rest.
Thank you Stefanie. I am really pleased that you appreciate the "no renewal fees" policy. Our view is that if we have good tenants it is in our client's best interests to do everything possible to keep them! That is why we do not charge renewal fees.

College and County have been absolutely superb. We lease our property through them and they have ensured high quality tenants and looked after us extremely well. They regularly keep in touch and have a personal approach whilst being prompt and professional.
Heidi, great to hear from you. You were one of the early adopters, (for which I will always be grateful) and I am delighted that you have been minded to post a review. Clearly we have been able to maintain our service levels whilst we grow. I am very lucky that we have an exceptional team, but it does make their job easier when our clients are quite as conscious as you are! Mark Crampton Smith - Managing Director

Very helpful staff, especially our property manager Sonali. Any problems or questions we had were very quickly answered or responded to. She has gone above and beyond to help us in many ways.PositiveResponsiveness, Professionalism
Thank you Jess for commending us. Our reputation is critical to the sustainability of the business….. Covid has accelerated the digitisation of everything, including how we choose goods and services. Unless we all go “above and beyond” we will not be different from other agents…. And that way lies a slow and painful demise! Mark Crampton Smith - Managing Director

The staff are all very helpful and knowledgeable. As a tenant, they provided me with a very good service from the very start when wanting to view a property right through to the very end and checkout. Thank you to all.
Toby, many thanks for taking the time to offer your feedback to our services. I am delighted that the team at College and County have made the renting of your property straight forward and that you consider the staff to be both helpful and knowledgeable.

Referencing and other checkin paperwork was done with web forms - simple and fast. Property manager Verity has always responded promptly to all issues. Overall the agency seems very professional.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review.......... We do see that much of the front end of lettings can be increasingly digitised. (Virtual fully immersive viewings using headsets are just around the corner) but of course the property still needs "looking after" by the occupants with support from the Property Manager and our team of contractors. Mark Crampton Smith - Managing Director

We are very happy with this agency. Yesterday we entered our new rental house and everything was in perfect condition. They are very professional and attentive. We highly recommend them.
So Pleased Alba.......I know that the team work really hard to make sure each move is as smooth as possible. Mark Crampton Smith - Managing Director

The worst letting agency I’ve ever had to deal with. In my personal opinion this agency is the worst most greedy corporation that makes their money profiting off of students who don’t know better.
Sienna........ I have searched our database going back four years and can find no record of you being a tenant or applicant of ours. Rather than hide behind a false profile, please, If you have a genuine complaint, contact me and let me investigate and find a solution? Mark Crampton Smith - Managing Director.

College and County were great during our move - responsive, quick and helpful, in stark contrast to some of the other property management firms in Oxford.

Our property manager was really friendly and was always quick to answer emails. The house we rented from College and County was really nice and the year was a good one. All in all a good service!
Thank you Alex for taking the time to post a review. I am delighted that you feel able to recommend us to your peers. Increasingly, we all choose goods and services based on the reviews they have attracted. The team here at College and County are charged with delivering service that is ethical; rather than just focusing on making money, this means that we are much more likely to have a service offering that works for our customers. Mark Crampton Smith - Managing Director.

I've rented from College and County for three years now and find them by far the most professional of all the estate agents in Oxford. Their properties are of a high quality and are well looked after.
Thank you for taking the time to post a review Rellie. I am delighted that you find us to be the most professional agents in Oxford. The team have really tried to redefine agency by ensuring that whatever we do, is ethically sound. This means that staff truly believe they are doing the right thing in any situation.......Of course we do not always get it right, but any mistake is taken as a learning opportunity to amend systems and processes and get it right next time.

Tried to keep the entire security deposit just for 'redecoration' - had to appeal the case and eventually we won, but it took months. No support for the tenants, predatory against overseas students with minimal resources for fighting legal disputes. Have heard similar reports from other students losing their entire deposit with no justification when they go back home. Beware C&C.
