GoogleI have been using College and County Letting Agents for nearly 4years. They have always been very professional and managed my property with very little or no input from me. It is great to know your property is in good hands. Thank you very much David Gilson and your team.PositiveResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

Thank you for taking the time to post a review Lizelle. I am delighted that you feel able to commend us. Increasingly peer recommendation is critical in the choice of goods and services, and goes a long way to explain why we have maintained steady growth without resorting to the sort of marketing activity that can serve to annoy landlords. GoogleCollege and County have been so kind and professional during my time. Sadly, due to personal circumstances, I was unable to sign my tenancy agreement but their support and assistance has proven to be everything I except from a letting agency and more! I can't recommend them enough. Truly great people!

GoogleI used college and county as tenant. They are not efficient and not serious. The inventory are not very rigorous. They have extremely expensive fees for finishing tenancy before the end of the contract. They make mistake to give the deposit.

GoogleI have had only positive experiences with College and County. The lettings team and the property management team are proactive, cooperative and reliable. My experience is far from the typical nightmare stories you hear from students renting in cities. I highly recommend C&C for letting in Oxford.

GoogleDon't buy into the 'ethical' letting agents - invasive procesures (such as inspections every 6 months and recieving 'marks' on how youre doing) and overbearing landlord. Got my deposit back but not through the safe deposit scheme but through the new tenant which is pretty dodgy imo. £140 admin fee to sign contract. Wouldnt recommend.

Kate, I am sorry that you have not found our service to be ethical. We pride ourselves on the fact that we have the lowest administration fees in Oxford, and no renewal fees for tenants. We are also clear that our fees to tenants include a range of services that we believe are of great value to our client's tenants; these include an accompanied check-in, and securing of guarantors from all the occupants of an HMO when for our landlord clients, one would do........ we also offer our tenants a final property visit between six and four weeks before a tenancy end in order that we can advise them on what needs to be done to maximise the deposit return.
As far as property visits are concerned, we are charged by our terms of business with our clients to visit their property at least twice a year; we do not "mark" our tenants, but do offer advice if we feel there are areas that might lead to dilapidation beyond fair wear and tear at the determination of the agreement.
It would appear that you had requested early release.....(that is the only scenario in which our we would ask your "replacement" tenant to pay a share of the deposit to you) The deposit pertains to the whole tenancy, which is joint and several. I do hope that this clarifies things a bit for you. I you still feel that we have not handled your tenancy in an ethical manner please do contact me directly and in confidence to raise a formal complaint and i will investigate further. Mark Crampton Smith, Director.

GoogleTL;DR: I would only rent a property with C&C as the last resort that I may go homeless.
Unless you’d like to prepare for debating why the maintenance is necessary, or threatening them with reporting C&C to the government authority, go ahead and rent a house under C&C.
Before we moved in, we were promised the house would be professionally cleaned and everything should be ready to use.
Attached photo was a reply of a long list of maintenance - when they said “note on inventory”, it means they won’t attend it, even though the toilet may go loose and pipe burst. It is a kind of nightmare that they don’t mind us having to deal with.
The reality spoke otherwise, we put in a list, which turned out to be a 11-page report, of what needs to be cleaned and fixed.
One of the items on the list was mould and mildew grow in a mattress ALL rooms, including bathrooms, kitchen and all bedrooms.
We failed to ask them to clear them up, even though the check-in report also showed very clearly that the mould was all there on the move-in date.
After chains of emails, some (NOT ALL!) mould was treated after we said we would report them to the Environmental Health Services.
Another example: sassy staff on maintenance
When we request to have the kitchen faucet fixed because once you open the faucet, the water would aim at you, instead of towards the sink, no matter how gently we open it. The feedback we got from the sassy staff (Maja) said, and I quote: “please make sure to open the water gently and not to fully to avoid water splashes” Shocking news, never occurred to us to turn the knob slowly! We then had to send a set of video, of all tenants turning the knob gently and we still couldn’t keep the water aiming at the sink. Maja then (finally, but reluctantly) sent an engineer to fix it. The hilarious moment was when the engineer came in and opened the tap, the first thing he said was, and I quote “wow this tap has to go”. Imagine how bizarre and exhausting that we had to explain and back up ourselves every single time.
These are only two examples highlighted, many more in my mailbox and none showed them care for the tenants.
My friends were wondering why I moved out shortly, but when I mentioned C&C, they understood. This probably speaks a great volume about its poor reputation.NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism

GoogleCollege and County fully managed the tenancies on my property in Oxford for 9 years, and they did and absolutely excellent job. As I was based a long way from Oxford, it was extremely reassuring to know they could sort out everything in an efficient and very cost effective manner. Thank you Anna for taking the time to post a review...... I am delighted that you have found the team to be efficient and friendly. We do try and be very careful about who we act for on a let only basis...... As reputation is increasingly important with peer to peer recommendations for all services and products, it is critical that we only represent those Landlords who are as ethical as we are when it comes to responding to maintenance reports as well as their contractual and legal responsibilities. Thank you for taking the time to post a review Alice. I am delighted that you found the team to be both helpful and communicative... I do firmly believe that good communication i the key to strong service levels, and therefore property management. We have reduced the number of properties that each team member looks after to under 100 so that they can be sure to respond quickly and efficiently when clients and tenants need us.
