GoogleI have worked with Horton and Garton both as a first time landlord and as a seller of property. In the first instance they guided me through all the aspects of being a landlord and managed the property whilst i lived 100 miles away. Throughout the five years Horton and Garton dealt with all the unforeseen issues that arose and dealt with the property and financial side of things impeccably. They also vetted all my tenants to ensure the flat was lived in by trustworthy, reliable people.
When i decided to sell the flat, they used both their knowledge of the market and negotiation skills to get me the best possible price. Other estate agents suggested that they could get more for me - but looking on Rightmove it was those estate agent's properties that would stay on longest, with no sale due to overprice.
With their local knowledge, independence, enthusiasm all bounded by good common sense I'd recommend H&G to anyone looking to rent, let, sell or buy a property.

Sam, I remember showing you Mel and the flat when you bought the property back in 2002 I remember saying that once you have bought the flat (years later) you will have forgotten about having to pay above the asking price and I was proved right. My advice then was if this road is good enough for your estate agent to live on then its good enough for you to be buying on!. I picked Horton and Garton because they offer good customer service and have an unparalleled knowledge of the local area. Martin Clements in particular was professional, commercially astute, hard working and had integrity, qualities that I have found to be mostly lacking in nearly all other estate agents. They are a good bunch of people, they are independent so they don’t carry all the rules and baggage of the chains and they are very experienced, I would recommend them for sales or rental, and I’ve used them successfully for both!

GoogleWe registered with Horton and Garton at the end of last November. They were the 5th in a line of agents who came to see us in order to give a valuation. It was evident to us that they seemed to be the best of the bunch; they were clearly very passionate about the area and seemed to have splendid knowledge of the locality. More importantly, unlike some of the other agents, they were akin to human beings rather than robots!
We were very sad that they did not actually sell our house, because they worked unstintingly on our behalf. It is clearly a cruel business, because ultimately, the house was sold by another agent who displayed few of the qualities of honesty and integrity which can be attributed to Horton and
Garton and we would strongly recommend them.

When I was first looking for a place to buy John Horton took the time to go through some properties on the market (not necessarily ones listed with them) to demonstrate what was available at what prices and he also gave examples of some over-valuations. When I started to view properties I was looked after really well by Phil who was able to accommodate short notice viewings as well as repeat viewings. Once I had submitted an offer he was excellent at keeping in touch with me.

Incidentally one more expensive than the one you refused to let me. So is your policy one of finding good tenants or just scamming people out of deposits? Also I walked away because one of your colleagues practically dared me to in the office, maybe if he was more focused on his job than goading customers, things would have worked out differently!

At the time back in February 2017 I asked you to contact me about your low star rating with our Horton and Garton lettings team which was over 2 years ago. The referencing procedure highlighted incorrect information which you provided on your tenancy referencing application and please do remember that it was your decision to withdraw from the the future tenancy and you forfeited the one weeks holding deposit, which for the record, was forwarded to the landlord client as per our terms and conditions - HG did not hold or keep the one week holding deposit.
