AVOID AVOID AVOID After getting our first flat with this disgrace of a company we were told after 2 months the flat would be getting sold and we would have to move however they would assist in the matter of finding us a new flat. Instead they would go on to complete ignore us and then take our full deposit if £1200 for "cleaning fees" that were totally fabricated. You cannot charge that amount for cleaning skirting boards and try and compare 2 picture, one of a full hallway taken at check in and the other the check out picture taken of the actual skirting board and claiming its dirty!!! Have you ever heard of an actual comparison or does your company enjoy scamming people with astronomical cleaning fees. This company has no ethics or obligation to its tennents or landlords!!! There are so many better estate agents out there than these scam artists and I would highly recommend going anywhere but here!!! Absolutely disgusting service and a disgusting way to treat people that are paying to stay in a flat!!!NegativeQuality, Professionalism, Value

Still haven't been able to move in into the property I am renting 2 weeks after the move-in date written on my contract. Apartment isn't cleaned properly and there is a MASSIVE leak that is making me unable to use the heating system and even hot water. I had to rent an airbnb to live in while waiting this is getting fixed, meaning I have to pay TWO RENTS during the pandemic (and since there are not reactive at all, this will take a while). One of the contractor even informed me that he had been made aware of the situation on the same day he came over to check the issue when I actually made DJ Alexander staff aware of the issue two weeks ago as soon as I received the inventory. The amazing thing that they do and I have never see it when I deal with any property management office in Edinburgh, is that they've returned all of my holding fee when I decided not to continue with them because I found another flat that is nearer to my work.

Many of the services were automated and online meaning that when we did need access to information it was readily available. If we did have more questions, and there was a lot, our contact Laura Mc was extremely responsive and friendly, often picking up the phone within minutes of me sending an email and remaining professional and friendly throughout. This is so much better than the agents I've dealt with in the past who takes hours or even days to respond. Next time we move, I'd definitely want to use D.J Alexander again!

Chasing Deposit Return Since June 1st

My son and his flat mates have been waiting for his deposit to be returned since vacating a rental property from this company on 1st June. They are not responding to the deposit safe company, my son or myself despite numerous calls. The checking out team have no direct lines of contact. You have to await a phone call which never materialises. Awful service which is causing stress, anxiety and financial difficulties.

Avoid renting with them if you can

They had a good selection of properties and found what seemed like a nice flat with them, the problems started when we moved in.First the roof leaked as a constant stream of water into one of the bedrooms each time it rained, this was initially brushed off as “unusual high amounts of rain” to a low priority problem and only got fixed 1 month after reporting and constant pestering. This was followed by a leak from our bathroom to the flat below, which meant we couldn’t use it for 2 months before it was fixed. Then the simple problems of a blind falling off the wall in one of the bedrooms took two months from reporting (and pestering) to being fixed, this impacted privacy and made sleeping for night shifts difficult.We initially stayed as we were told they were working on a compensation package if we did, which inevitably never came. If I could sum it up it would be looks good initially, but they are very slow at dealing with any big or small problems, which is kind of the opposite of what you want as tenants and I would avoid if you can find properties with other companies!
