At 1st

At 1st, i was a bit suspicious of renting with DJ Alexanders with the negative comments I have seen. Trying to get a viewing was difficult and i had a few appointments cancelled on the day. When i got the viewing the Property Manager Imran, explained to me why they were cancelled which is understandable. (If the LET has been agreed there is no point of continuing with the viewing.) I applied for a few properties and some I got rejected which was no part of DJ Alexander's, it was this the landlord's decision. After being accepted by a property, I have successfully moved in.When the key handover/ Check-in happened, Imran showed me how to use the heating systems and which right department to contact if there were any issues.

DJ Alexander let us live with mould for almost 3 years

Throughout my tenancy I consistently reported a major leak coming from our roof/ ceiling. Initially, DJ Alexander did nothing of substance about this. Later, they tried to blame us for the damp. Then they sent the cheapest contractors over, who did nothing to fix the leak. Finally, they tried painting over the black mould, despite me saying that the leak was not fixed. Finally, when they realised they had let the situation run to the point of being structurally dangerous to the building, they asked us to leave and find new accommodation.This agency isn't just bad for tenants: the owner of the property will now need to pay tens of thousands more, all because DJ Alexander refused to take our reports seriously.I would advise all landlords to leave this company immediately. There are several other competitors, and I have never had any issues with these.

Unprofessional, unreliable and slow to react. No one answers the phone, regardless of the department you’re trying to call, they take almost a month to reply to one’s enquiry and just as long to send someone for repairs. There doesn’t seem to be a property manager anymore because different people reply to messages. They don’t care about their tenants and they seem overwhelmed with the amount of requests they get now that they merged with Braemore.

My experience with this agency has been awful so far. No one ever picks up the phone or replies to voice messages, and no one replies to email requests either. It's very frustrating as they seem to have the vast majority of rental properties available in Edinburgh, yet they don't really post photos of the properties (or too late), and make it impossible to even book a viewing. I'd give them 0 stars if I could.

I had a really helpful experience recently as I was in a hurry looking for flats. Johanna from DJ Alexander was so friendly and supportive. I didn't get the property she showed me but I've rarely seen a letting agent being so customer-orientated. She booked me a last minute viewing and instead of letting me wander around through the flat really guided me through every room, giving me all the info I needed. Much appreciated, Johanna!

Good Check-out Experience

We rented an apartment via DJ Alexander as property manager for two years. During our tenancy I wasn't too impressed with little regular contact and some maintenance issues not attended to. However the check-out experience managed by Alison McInnes went very smoothly and I have to credit her efficiency and the way they handled the whole process of move out, checking inventory, meters, keys, deposit etc

Well, we want to inform to any future tenant " don't rent any flat from DJAlexander". They are the worst letting agency in this country in our opinion. Since last year we are having leaking issue in the flat and the only thing they have been able to say was that they didn't know it was still leaking when they letted the flat ( how it happens if you are an agency). They promised many times to come at put temporaty patches on the roof since is full of the holes and it seems the The maintance company Hackingson & Parterson in Edinburgh are repairing the Sistina chapel in Rome. after one year and half they are still meeting for designing the new roof. Meanwhile DJ Alexander have caused to our life limitation in living decently in the house, scared to go away for a weekend because we don't know if it will rain in the house while we are not there. There is now black mold in the our badroom, mice can enter from the roof and we already had a wee guest two weeks ago. DJ Alexander cleverly suggested to offer us another flat just to try to escape to fix permanenly the flat issue. They promised to meet us face to face this week but it is already 4 days we don;t have news from them. they propose to reduce the rent price of an amount inferior to the damange and frustration and stress we have faced so far, taking in consideration that at the begining of everything they have ignored most of our emails until we had to use social medias to have their attention. We want a compesation of 50% from last year rent plus to reduction of 13,5% of the rent price from now until everything will be repaired. We thought flats in Gilmerton road were in good condition and well mantained. This building is only 20 years old you can't take ages to repairing it. Shame on you!! you should just close the business you and also Hackingson & Parterson that Are just taking money from the owners of the bulding but not coming to do the job. WE WILL ATTACH PROOF OF WHAT WE SAID AND PLEASE DON'T TRY TO REMOVE THE PICTURES PEOPLE HAVE TO KNOW WHO YOU REALLY ARE

I locked myself out of my flat one night and called the office in a panic. Dale was so helpful and reassuring as I panicked to get to his office on time to pick up my extra set. He went out of his way to make sure I was taken care of! The manager, Clare, stayed past closing so I could pick up the extra set and get into my place without having to call a locksmith. This is a great company who puts their tenants first and made sure I was able to get in my flat safely. Thank you to both of them for their kindness and extra effort!

"Extremely helpful and responsive, everything was clearly stated at all points of the process" Ellie was great showing me round various properties, and the admin and maintenance team have been superb. In our first week we had a smoke detector issue (fixed), a washing machine issue (resolved) and a leak (being investigated). None of these are issues are unexpected as new people start living in a house, but it has been reassuring to know that the response times to these queries have been almost instant, and all were handled diligently and with urgency.

I’ve rented with a few estate agents over my time but DJ Alexander have genuinely been the easiest and most efficient company I’ve come across. The whole transition from placing a holding fee to collecting the keys was seamless and I was constantly kept in the loop in correspondence as well as having almost instant replies to my emails or queries. I've been renting with DJ Alexander just over 3 years now, and everyone is quite helpful and friendly. I hadn't had any issues, until a car parking situation with an incompetent agent came along recently. Fortunately, that's not a complaint review, that's a very well done and thank you review that's owed to Lee C. (leasing team) and also to Mark from Maintenance. Lee was there to help us with the documents at the start of our latest move-in and was very attentive, so thank you Lee. Mark was quick to respond to and help with moving things fast and efficiently when we were in need of a replacement appliance and a couple fixings in the flat. He was helpful and followed up to ensure the job was satisfactory completed. Thanks again for your efforts.
