We moved into our Abbey new home in East Grinstead

We moved into our Abbey new home in East Grinstead. We've had many issues but the Customer Services have been absolutely great. Especially Nathalie at the beginning of our move and now we are dealing with Maisie, who has been amazing responding and organising to any questions straight away. This makes life so much easier.We had our downstairs cloakroom out of action for sometime and my parents were unable to visit, as it would mean climbing the stairs. Maisie was wonderful in organising the relevant contractors to come and fix the problems. So thank you Maisie. She made it all happen before Christmas. Very much appreciated.I would give Abbey New Homes a five star but had a few problems with our home albeit Customer Services have dealt with them efficiently.

Great from start to finish. Oakwell place

Best value for money on the new homes market. From start to finish it was a lovely experience, even the after care has been great. Dean who has been looking after us since we moved in has been a pleasure to deal with. He paid great attention to detail to our family, even bought his land-rover around so my 4 year old son could sit in it. Really went the extra mile. Everything thing was included in the price, so no extra charges for ‘extras’ as most other building companies do. Also Michelle in the sales office couldn’t do enough for us and made it a stress free experience. Thank you to all involved.

Recently moved to St Nicholas Place, Oxford. Excellent customer service from the sales team of Clare and Janet from the day we went to view the property to the completion day. There were some usual minor snags you get with a new built but Assistant Site manager Ned sorted everything mostly on the same day when brought to his notice. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a property here in Oxford.

We moved here recently after viewing many other new developments around Oxford and glad we chose St Nicholas Place as the price was much cheaper to other new built properties within Oxford City. Sales team of Clare & Janet were very helpful during the sale process and Nev the assistant site manager quickly sorted out all the minor snags which is normal in a new built property.

Poor communication/ wrong information/ awful company

Abbey Homes have provided us with an abysmal service. Two years following the purchase of our property, we were informed that we did not own the first 3ft of our property due to this being a service area. At no point during the purchase were we informed about this, and feel we were miss-sold. The construction team Kingsheath informed us of this fact when they stated that they were digging up our front garden to place a border in the grass. When querying this with the site manager, they still believed that we owned the entirety of our property at the front and stated Kingsheath were wrong. However, they were in fact correct and this just shows the poor quality of the staff working for Abbey Homes - in that they couldn’t even provide us with accurate information regarding our boundary line. Kingsheath placed a concrete edged border into our garden and it has been left in a complete state. It is incredibly uneven, with approximately 2-3 inches sticking out of the ground making it a serious trip hazard. My children have tripped over this several times due to it not being flush in the ground. When the unevenness was questioned with Kingsheath, they stated that Abbey Homes had not levelled our home properly and that they would not sort out the issue as it would cost them too much money. This issue was raised with Abbey Homes on numerous occasions who stated that they would be re-turfing our garden following their work. This has not been done and they have now left site. We are now left with an unsightly front garden, with a huge muddy patch which was dug up and not re-turfed. The border is not level at all, and has not been placed evenly into the ground. They have provided us with an incredibly poor service, we have been wrongly informed on multiple occasions and inaccurate information provided. At no point has Abbey Homes claimed ownership of these issues, or attempted to right their wrongs. When the site manager was confronted about these issues, we were informed that the previous site manager was ‘young and didn’t have the same experience reading blueprints’ and that was why we were given false information. It is incredibly concerning that even their own employees recognise the lack of experience and education required to perform the role. When an email was sent to customer services asking for assistance with our complaint, we were informed that we would be receiving a phone call from someone. This was not received and when we asked for a call for a second time, this was still not received and our complaint avoided. I would never purchase a home from Abbey Homes again, and have spread this word to anyone considering the purchase of one.

The worst experience

Where do I start?! There aren't the words to explain how beyond disappointed we are with our Abbey New Homes. If we could return it, we would in a heartbeat. We've had all the issues including 2 toilets leaking buckets of water, water coming through the ceiling from the ensuite sink, a large area of the ceiling in the kitchen coming down to repair pipework and now the main shower leaking and saturating the wall behind which all needs to come out to be repaired. Not to mention the 2 separate electrical issues with the boiler and the paintwork that literally could have been done better by a 5 year old. The latter we are still waiting to be rectified despite 5 different "painters" attempting to repair, yet only made things worse and swore at us in the process. We hoped to finally make progress with a so called "Customer Service Manager" who reassured us to leave everything with him and he'd sort it, but this was a further joke. Literally nothing has been done despite further chasing. Not only all of this but there was no cover of an emergency plumber/electrician so we were on own! These just cover the basic issues we've had but won't bore you with the rest if you've read this far. Safe to say you'll regret spending your hard-earned money on a house that is your worst nightmare!

New Home

We have lived in our new home over a week now and it has been great. The house itself has been built brilliantly. With all new houses there are a few snags here and there, but all minor and have been rectified within a few days. Dean the site manager who is a lovely guy, has swiftly made sure everything is to our satisfaction and has constantly been available throughout our moving in process, as well as answering all of our questions. Michelle at the Abbey New Homes office was so lovely and friendly and made us feel very comfortable. She gave us all the information we needed and asked for, not only when we came to enquire but throughout the whole purchasing process. This is our first home and has been a great experience. We would highly recommend this company for anyone who would like to buy a new build house.

Exceptional Support from the Arcadia Team at Abbey Homes

I had a wonderful experience with the Arcadia team at Abbey Homes. Barbara from the sales team was always very helpful. Whenever I had questions, she clarified everything and even supported me in keeping track with the solicitors. It was Christmas time when every other office was closed, but she still took responsibility and made sure I could proceed with my reservation, even though I had not yet completed the initial eligibility check.
