It was a long journey from selling my old place to completion, but Abbey were helpful throughout - especially Debbie in the Sales Office who was extremely professional, supportive and helpful throughout and patiently dealt with my many queries. Ben and Andy were good on the snagging front too.

A much better than expected experience

A much better than expected experience with Abbey New Homes.New house builders often get bad press and we were initially worried when reading bad reviews for other companies. Fortunately our experience with Abbey New Homes (The Hawthornes site) has been really good.Our home is built to a much higher standard and spec vs other companies and Henry (part of the site team) was a pleasure to deal with. We love our new house and are really happy to have chosen Abbey New Homes.Since being handed to the customer service team, most of our issues have been resolved. Honestly speaking some less urgent issues can take a while to get resolved (and need chasing) but overall things are sorted. A noticeable positive change has been since Maisie Clancy has joined the customer service team. She seems very proactive and it's reassuring to see someone like Maisie on the case!Choosing Abbey New Homes has given us faith in new build houses and we'd be more than happy to buy from Abbey New Homes in the future!

I bought an Abbey home in Manor Grange, Glebe Farm just 4 weeks ago and so far the experience has been fairly smooth. From a sales perspective, I can’t fault James and his colleagues for their open and honest dealings and always getting back to me when promised. James took ownership all the way through the process, finding out information from solicitors when required. His friendly bubbly personality and banter with my son made the house move an enjoyable process for him and he talks fondly on a daily basis about James! Often asking if I can message him about the latest football score!The legal side of the purchase was difficult with issues with the deeds being registered incorrectly and issues with ground work in the garden meaning last minute changes to the layout but Dean the site manager couldn’t have been more helpful. He has continued to be supportive through the snagging process and work has started on that. Although this snagging isn’t complete I trust that it will be because the attitudes of people are spot on. I’d be happy to follow up with a further review once the process is complete. The overall build quality and finish of the property isn’t amazing (paint missed from areas, poor mastic, paint drips, dented door thresholds, scratched door steps etc) and there are a few issues with workmanship in general (brickwork and mortar, block paved driveway etc) but I’m confident that these will be resolved. Dean has made me feel very reassured and comfortable throughout and I’m confident I’m going to be very happy here

Abbey Homes have been great throughout the process of buying and moving into my first new home. Sara, Marina and Shirley took me through the process with patience and understanding, answering all my questions however small they were. Even when the build was delayed by a couple of months they kept me up to date and pushed to get a completion date. Cannot thank them enough for their great communication throughout it all!Simon, the site manager, has also been great, ensuring that everything has been ok. He explained everything well during the home demo and has been on hand with any questions I’ve had since I moved in. There are a few snags that need resolving and these are in process of being resolved. He’s good at his job and keeps in communication, which helps, and cares about the people moving in and if they are happy, which is nice to see!A couple of bits that make it a 4 star review rather than a 5. The front garden, which is planted by Abbey could be better as plants have not been planted properly and to be honest are nearly dead. The company used just threw them in and didn’t seem to have any pride in their work. Not as nice as the other side of the road… The mould is also a bit of a concern as it’s now appearing in a few places now throughout the house, but I’m sure that will be resolved quickly.Overall I’m happy with my new home, Simon has really helped with this, and once the snags have been sorted out this will be a great first home for me.

What a disgrace of a company

What a disgrace of a company. Selling brand new properties with known defects to the roof membrane and think sticking a bit of tape on it is sufficient. Do not touch plot 73 at Crocus Fields and probably any of their properties. Disgraceful behaviour from all involved.I have never and will never buy one of their properties even though they seem to believe I have. Don’t touch them. Cowboys

Thank you Customer care team for your response regarding our contractual relationship, however you have not made any reference to Abbey Developments poor build quality and the defects that were signed off by Abbey developments. There is evidence the flooring structure failed to meet British Standards. I am sure prospective buyers and existing Abbey owners would prefer to hear an explanation rather than refusing to communicate. Are these failing widespread and part of the Abbey developments culture and potentially the reason for you not wishing to explain?

Disgraceful experience

Finally decided to purchase my new home and choose Abbey Homes but unfortunately experience has been horrendous since day one. Site team was very unhelpful and Customer Service has been ignoring our concerns and refusing to come and sort the issues. Unacceptable situation. They bend over backwards for you initially when they are getting their commission and all is joyful then as soon as they hand over the keys they couldn’t give a flying fluff about you! Trying to chase up snags is like trying to find rocking horse poo. Definitely won’t be buying a house from them again. Great service

We started living over half year ago in our new built home in Slade Green. We were happy that we got the opportunity to step on the property ladder. Our house is great, exactly what a young family needs. Abbey Homes have done a good job delivering the house. As an architect I know that you will find in every new building snagging items. But we were more then pleasantly surprised to experience how Abbey Homes site manager Valentine has resolved all the issues in quick and professional manner. The Abbey Home team has done really their up most best to make us happy with the house we bought. The site manager, and everyone else we've dealt with on the sales side have been so so helpful. We love our house.
