Initial interaction with Olivia Shannon a little unsettling as Olivia has an unfortunate habit of laughing/giggling at intervals when she is introducing herself on the phone or when she is doing follow up calls. In other words, introduces herself and then laughs, sounds like a nervous laugh. Presumably her managers haven't noticed or don't consider it an issue. The trouble is, it doesn't inspire confidence - also, as I said to my daughter who had dealt with Olivia on a recent rental and agreed with me, it doesn't sound very professional and is rather disconcerting (why would an estate agent be giggling?) However Olivia was always on the end of the phone when I asked for her. She also recommended a property that was in Hiltingbury (it wasn't in that area) and also not sure where Bournemouth Rd was when I was trying to locate a property - maybe it was an off day. Mike very good and also reassuring. Spoke to Jess on the phone but it was really difficult to hear what she was saying as her voice is fast and very high pitched. I had to get her to repeat things as she was so shrill. However very knowledgeable about the property I was buying. Was not fazed by questions about the boiler and was happy to explain the split chain involved. Suggest managers listen to their staff (literally)to get the impact they are passing on to buyers. I am wondering what kind of staff training Charters are doing. Would it help to listen to how their staff are coming across by phone?

This is the first time my wife and I have moved from one home to another as this was our first home. Stressful doesn't quite cut it! Lisa who works as a sales progressor is a true asset to the team and incredibly patient. Lisa and her team excelled at pushing the process on. One thing I think is important throughout this process is effective communication; and they have this in buckets. Totally recommend their services. Oh! Their mortgage team are also fantastic as we discovered.

We have recently sold our house through Charters. We had a bit of a mixed experience with them (mainly good) but would like to start with the positives which are due to a few individuals there. First of which is Jess, we met her when we started to consider moving, our house wasn’t on the market yet but Jess listened to exactly what we were looking for and we felt we were a genuine priority for her to help us find our next home. She’s a real asset to charters, very honest, reliable and knowledgeable in everything she does. Another who is like to mention and give thanks to was Lisa R, she dealt with us once our house had sold, she too was just very approachable, knowledgeable and understanding of our circumstances which was much appreciated. Charters as a whole we feel just lacks a little bit of team communication. We initially didn’t want a for sale sign, but one was up promptly when we had started the process. In terms of the viewings on our property they were a little hit and miss, we asked for an “open day” style but got told with short notice this wasn’t happening then the viewings were all done by different people who I felt were coming in a little unsure of what they were trying to sell. After a few weeks on the market it was Jess who requested to come round so I could personally show her the house (she ended up selling it) which I just think makes a big difference to the overall selling experience. There were times we were called about one thing but then told another. The last encounter we had was them calling me after completion on the sale to ask when I was dropping the keys in for the new homeowners only to advise them I had done this 3 days prior which was at the request of someone else at charters. Little things like this I think really create a bit of disappointment with them when we chose them (mainly because of Jess) but also as they had a great reputation in the area. Overall Charters are good, just with thanks to some individuals there.

We were met right on time by Christine who showed us around the property we hoped to purchase. Christine was very knowledgeable about the details of the sale and able to answer all our questions. It was an absolute pleasure to have such an attentive sales person show us around the house; she is a real credit to her company. We think the rest of the team at Charters are also well on the case now we are STC and we get plenty of communication from them. Thoroughly recommended and well done all round!

Everyone at Charters has been a great help to us in the buying and selling process. Simon Edser was particularly great in helping us to sell our flat in Southampton. He kept in touch regularly and had great knowledge of the local area. He was particularly good at showing prospective buyers around and answering their queries promptly. When we came to buying a new property in chandlers Ford, Lisa and Amy both helped liaise with our buyers and sellers. First introduced to Charters by Becky Chapman who explained every step thoroughly and in an easy to understand way (as this is my first experience of selling a home on the open market). I had contact from Chloe to arrange getting my property valued who was so lovely to speak to and gave me confidence they were the right people to market booked with. Cameron came to value my property, who was insightful and realistic, answering all of my no doubt silly questions. After a rather unpleasant experience with Purple Bricks and no viewings requests after 10 days on the market , I instructed Charters who remarketed my house and which then sold on 1st day of viewings! After selling Jessica Crouch was put in charge of finding me a house. Jess immediately organised a viewing of a house in my preferred area which was not yet on the market and I had my offer quickly accepted on the day of the viewing! Once we were on the market Victoria Timson and her team were very proactive in directing potential purchasers to our property with 3 viewings before our details were published and eight more in the first week after going on the market. When Lydia showed us a property I really appreciated how she didn't just list the features of the property, but expertly sold the 'lifestyle' of the home. She was highly descriptive, painting a vivid picture of how the current family utilises each space, which helped me visualise living there myself and with my family. Charters sold my partner's property but we were overall disappointed with the service. The advert looked good but this seems to be done by another company anyway. Viewings were few & far between & always conducted by someone different who did not know our house, in fact at every stage of the process we dealt with a new person & never saw the person who visited us after our initial meeting. We felt very little was done to assist with our property search as they sold houses in the areas we were looking to buy without notifying us of their availability. I suppose Charters did the job that they were hired to do but we felt the service was quite impersonal.
