The accommodation itself isn't too bad, it is worth it for the price. The staff were a bit anti-student for example being awkward when you trying to have a birthday party refusing to let guests in unless a resident came to the door. On the other hand this makes the residence more secure.

The rooms may look good but I guarantee you the whole experience is not worth it. As you can see from the other reviews there is a whole list of problems that make life uncomfortable here.

I have been here for a year, the location is close to the university and to the centre of the city. The staff are helpful. The room is comfortable. there were some problems few months ago but all of it sorted out.

I enjoyed my stay there. The room is well designed and comfy, also has a nice view. It is quite place as well. The place of laundry is big enough and it is not crowded so that It doesn’t take too long to wash the clothe.

stayed here last year. The place is terrible and the people who manage the building worse. Avoid the place at all cost. Staying here ruined my first year at uni

Stop taking advantage of students 12 - number of days that tenants were without hot water in January 55 - number of days that common areas of the building were without heating 80 - number of days to replace a faulty mattress 72 - number of days to remedy a leak from a main light fitting, affecting a tenant’s ability to study, work, cook etc. 52 - number of days to remedy abnormal condensation causing increased humidity and the spread of mould while refusing to relocated the tenant 92 - number of days before Fortis began to listen seriously to tenants’ complaints, after a picket at their head office

if i could give this building 0 stars, i would. absolute sham of a building and fortis are absolutely no help whatsoever. the people they have running the building are incompetent. i wouldn't bother reporting anything as damaged in your room as it won't be fixed - i am on the ground floor, and before i officially moved in i asked if the window lock could be fixed as it was broke, they had somebody come in and check a few weeks later but apparently, it wasn't the biggest issue (i was told it would be fixed lol, it's now april, 7 months later, my window hasn't been fixed), the floor outside the bathroom is warped and has been since i moved in, the shower has mold, my light blew and i was told apparently it's not "broke" the entire circuit needs replacing, had an email to say the "parts had been ordered from over seas" or some nonsense, my light still doesn't work. we weren't shown how to use any appliances, just directed to the leaflet on a notice board, that had to be shared between everybody in the building. on top of the problems with everyone's rooms we have had a massive flood that was never actually resolved, the hot water went off in january, we were being told head office knew about it, that was a lie. we had a fire in the gym, a leak in the gym, the common room is always out of use for one reason or another, there is no "social events", i think there has been half of one since i first moved in? We have had no apologies for any of this, despite the absolute inconvenience it poses. My rent a term is £2667.50 or something absurd along those lines and for what? We have had no compensation, in fact, rent was reduced for those considering moving in AFTER the flood, not those who lived in the building during the flood. Since living at Chronicle House i have been consistently sick, i would honestly advise anyone to not even bother VIEWING this place, it's not worth it. PS. i had a friend get stuck in the lift the first week she moved in, she wanted to move back home and getting stuck in the lift allowed her to cancel her contract with fortis, her room was re-let, however, for some reason, they still tried demanding she pay the full years rent anyway.

I stayed here for the 2017-18 academic year and have not had the best experience. It all started with a burst pipe in the ceiling of the first floor, which flooded the first and ground floor, the gym and the common room. Which meant living inside a building site for two weeks, for which they could only apologise for the inconvenience. A second leak occurred not too much later on the Second floor and following on from that another leak in the gym. It is only January and now and the hot water is not working for the entire building. It has been like this for the past week. I can confirm cold showers are not nice at 7am. I am however happy with the room, and as long as nothing else goes wrong for the next 6 months of my time here it is a nice location to stay in. Other things to mention are; the website advertises table tennis which doesn't exist and regular social events which happened once when we moved in and haven't heard of since. Overall i'm not impressed with the management of events that occurred as there just didn't seem to be much urgency. Also no compensation for the lack of services we were still paying for. If you plan on living here i hope you don't have the same experience as me. An update a month after i wrote this, the building suffered an electrical fire in the gym radiator and we all had evacuate for an evening while fire crews dealt with this issue. No management for the building showed up that night to see if we were all ok, the student representative was left to deal with it all. I hate living with the worry something will go wrong again soon.
