So… my old review was very harsh but true initially the run of this building was shockingly poor. But it’s been more than made up for by the new staff! They are attentive and really great! The old staff were rude and unhelpful and head office could still take some work but these people have more than made up for it! They are on hand immediately when anything goes wrong and listen to our issues and help best they can. A really great end to my year here! I would now recommend to anyone staying in Chester. Good distance to both the uni and city centre! 💖

Initially management wasn't that good, now have a whole new team who are a lot better, Dawn and Chris actually get things done, when I first moved in (Sept 2020) the flat was disgusting, I had to deep clean it before using anything, in January 2021, the roof leaked, this was said to be fixed however leaked again in May, May is under the new management and we were offered another room whilst being fixed and it is supposed to be fixed now, other than that room is okay, £150 a week is fairly steep considering we haven't got half of the things promised when signing the contract. If you don't want the constant smell of weed and noise of drunk people outside running around, I'd recommend somewhere further away from town centre, other than that, the common room is decent, fairly expensive to wash clothes however, being at least £3.10 for a quick wash, and dryer being from £1.60. Overall, not the best however with new team it is getting better

Student rep speaking here. I'd honestly ignore the 2.8 star average review you see on google. Most people, probably over 90% of the accommodation will have good experiences and only on the rare occasion write reviews, that's just the way it is and hence why there are many 1 star reviews about. Now there were occasions this year where we had issues, but a new team has been brought in which are excellent, friendly and will help you out in whichever way possible to give you the best experience. I can't fault the facilities and location, and with the new team of staff in, you're getting good value for money living here.

I would honestly suggest other students who are considering on moving here don’t. There are several things wrong with the apartment building and there are better managed student flats elsewhere. 1. Staff are never in and they encourage other students to take your mail in for you which means you have to trust in the honesty of complete strangers so mail is always missing 2. The fire alarms go off at the most inconvenient time possible, not because of late night snack by students but because of random glitches in the system. I’m talking 2am sometimes. 3. The maintenance team are always working on something, often times really loudly and really early on the morning. 4. The oven and microwave in my room haven’t been working for over a month and the maintenance guy stated that it had failed the electrical test so I should expect a new microwave but it’s been over a month and there’s been no word about anything done. Instead they’re focusing on painting the walls in the corridors whilst there are clients with no way to warm up food in the building. 5. There was no safety precautions when the maintenance staff came into our rooms to check the electrical system in our rooms. Literally none of them were wearing masks and they didn’t maintain a safe distance during the process. 6. I have no idea how other students are washing their clothes cause the washing machine hasn’t been properly working for months. They literally no longer produce hot water. 7. Our sinks and showers regularly run out of water and rooms regularly flood for no reason. 8. Staff members are entirely unhelpful and are never around to help. Only portion is to WhatsApp them and even then it’s a toss up if they reply.

The staff is quite okay and polite IMO, but the thing is the building itself is an absolute nightmare. Laundry room is outdated and only has 1 set of working machines. The walls are super thin and it's absolutely something you really want to have in a room facing the railway of the Central Station 🤷. The facilities, whilst adequate, is needing a more regular maintenance as in my 3 months there the lift and the alarm had broken down a few times and in the most inconvenient times . The stoves in my room was never fixed since I moved in until I moved out. And it only took the HQ of Xenia almost 3 months to refund the deposit. Moving on to the room, well, I rented the most economical room there was and the room was quite petite. I literally couldn't open the fridge as the bed was blocking it. Granted, after a few rearrangements, it's do able, but still you'll be sleeping 3-4 feet away from the kitchen. The bed was extremely uncomfortable but I guess it's a personal preference. But on the upside, the place is really closed to the Central station and a Subway station. The main shopping street is just around the corner, and the best part is: Lidl is just across the street. Also, the neighbors, at least in my time there, was polite enough not to make a disturbing party noises in the middle of the night (or the sounds from the station might have blocked it). Shame that the Common room was closed all the time I was there.

Bad experience living here. I think I stayed in the same room as another reviewer (same view from the bedroom) and the stove top had still not been fixed in the month that I was living in this room, despite me reporting it again. It didn't work to the extent that you couldn't even boil pasta. When arranging my room with Xenia, I had specifically asked for a certain room size and was assured that this room was the size I was looking for. I was also shown the room size I was looking for during my virtual viewing. However, when I turned up, I had been given the smaller size. When I contacted Xenia about this, they said that I needed to see out the duration of the leaving notice as I had already signed a legal contract to live there. I arranged to view the new room in person three separate times. The first time the representative was running late but didn't bother to text or call to let me know (and I had to leave for work), and the second time the rep didn't have the right key. I took time off of work to attend these viewings on each occasion. I was then moved into a room of the size I was looking for. This room was pretty good, well-furnished and clean. The problem was one of the neighbours, who would bang their door or walls incessantly if you made ANY noise in the hallway, and at very early hours in the morning. I have never felt more unsafe than when I was living in that room. I never had any parties or played loud music that might cause someone to do this. Of course, all Xenia could do was issue a noise complaint, which didn't stop the banging. There is no on-site security. Laundry machines do not work despite complaining several times. It is also very, very expensive for a wash and a dry. While I was living there, Circuit had sent an engineer out to the property to investigate, but apparently there was nothing wrong with the machines. However, my clothes were coming out freezing cold despite choosing a 40 degree wash, and the dryers never completely dried clothes despite being filled to the recommended capacity. I avoided getting any parcels sent here as parcels were often just left on the floor in the post room. I opted to stay here to save a bit of money, and for the convenience of having all bills included. The staff are polite and friendly, but customer service isn't very good. Overall, I would strongly recommend against living here, as it's not worth the stress.

Absolutely the best student accommodation in Sunderland!!! The studio rooms are so modern and spacious and the bathroom is the perfect size. The only thing I didn’t get to use was the on-site gym due to covid. I wish I had found this accommodation earlier as i spent my final year here. Can’t forget how friendly the staff are. This made my experience in Sunderland 100% better. Definitely would recommend ☺️

I moved in September 2020 and I’ve had nothing but a pleasant experience, the rooms are a lovely size with a well catered kitchen. Apart from noise from the outside street If you leave the window open I’ve not had any trouble with noise from my neighbours. Anyone that complains about noise needs to lighten up and shouldn’t of gone to uni in the first place if you can’t deal with a bit of noise. Never used the cinema or gym because of COVID so I can’t comment on those but the staff are lovely and I would definitely recommend staying here. The only thing that bothers me is the freezer thats a bit temperamental. Sometimes my food is so icy others it’s hardly frozen so be aware
