Good place, bad management
5/5
As an international student, entering into my freshman year, I was very nervous about my stay in student accommodation and the search for friends. However, on my very first week (I think three days into my stay), the receptionist and manager of All Saints, Lisa, was kind and receptive to my worries about friends and loneliness. She mentioned this girl living in my same block who was an international student who spoke my native language and suggested we become friends. Well, thanks to Lisa and her incredible matchmaking skills, I have made a lifelong friend. With this friend, I went on several trips, adventures, lived through so many experiences in Sunderland, Newcastle and many other places in the UK, and enjoyed my first year in Uni. I am thankful to Lisa every day for what she has done for me and my friend. I know it would’ve been hard for me if I didn’t have her support or if I hadn’t been matched with this friend. Lisa is an amazing person who listens to students who are scared and nervous, she will make you feel right at home and surely match you with a new friend to calm your nerves and prevent loneliness. For me, Lisa was the highlight of my experience as a tenant for Xenia Students and All Saints House. She helped us along each step of our journey, facilitated solutions for problems in the accommodation, and is always attentive to each and every person in All Saints House. Billy, the maintenance man, was also of great help and, when we had conversations at reception, he would suggest (along with Lisa) amazing restaurants and places to have fun in Sunderland. He was always on top of solving any maintenance issue in our rooms as soon as possible. Overall, I enjoyed my stay at All Saints House and will return for every year of Uni. The staff are incredibly kind, hard-working, funny, and supportive. If there is an accommodation for nervous international students, I 100% recommend All Saints House.

I have lived here since September 2022 and I have enjoyed living here. The staff are brilliant and are attentive if there are any issues within the apartment. The accommodation itself is basic but brilliant for what you are paying and you have your own private space. It’s not far from st. Peter’s campus if you are based there and not far from the city centre either.
Hi Becca, thank you for your lovely review! We are so pleased to hear you have enjoyed living with us. We wil also pass your feedback onto the team :) Thanks, Xenia Students

Been here 8 months so far with my partner, booked for another year as we really like it. Flats are decent, clean looking with a good size kitchen and bathroom (even for a couple), shops are really close and the metro/st peters campus, so handy for getting to both campuses. We live 1st floor facing a store delivery ramp but we've found it's surprisingly not that noisy, you get used to it pretty quickly. Good amount of parking space, for free which was great when we had a car. Never really used the common room or gym but with such a small amount of flats here, they're rarely too busy, if you do want to use them. Same applies for the laundry rooms. Billy and Lisa at reception are so friendly and helpful with any issues and just to chat to, they've made settling in much easier. (Previously lived in a place with very rude management staff so it's great they make you feel at home here.)

I have stayed at Xenia Accommodation for almost 2 years and I can say I enjoyed my time living there. The rooms are spacious enough and the staff are always ready to help and support. Lastly, rent through Xenia and not Urban Revolution as i have a friend who rented from Urban Revolution and did not have a great experience.

Positive experience whilst staying at Chronicle House, no problems :)

I lived here for more than a year. In a nut shell, this is my worst experience so far. - the building manager is the worst staff I’ve ever met. The other two man were nice. At the beginning, things went well. I didn’t have any interaction with the building manager. Things got worse since I lost my order. If the delivery comes during the noon or when the building manager is not around (she will be there from 10 to 3-3:30 only), there is no place to keep your stuffs. They allow the delivery guy to leave your orders on the counter. It means anyone can just go by and take your stuffs. In my case, I had the prove of delivery. One staff had received my package, but when I asked for it, they didn’t give me any reason/evidence why the didn’t have it with them. Then when I asked for their help to claim my lost parcel, they just ignored my request. When our contract had around 9 months left, I received an email regarding contract renew. This emails was sent to all the residents, not specific to us. I thought it was still 9 months left, that email shouldn’t be for us. After that email, I didn’t receive any other notifications. Till 3 months before the end date, I reached out to them to extend my contract. And it turned out they have rent out that room to someone else, without consulting us. Its just a part of the story. When we moved out, Nicci tried to take 1 of our furnitures, she claimed it without any proffs. Even I had the evidence showing that I bought that furniture from the previous tenant, but she said it was there, in the room when we moved in (where else should it be?), thus it belonged to her, which is so ridiculous. Despite all the evidence we gave her, Nicci denied to understand. She kept claiming it was hers without any reason. Not until we found a point in the tenancy agreement, and also an evidence of the previous tenant saying that they leaved all the things for us, then she had no choice but let us have what is ours. After all the trauma that she caused, she didn’t even say sorry. Nicci is the worst building manager that I have ever met in my entire life. She is the biggest reason for this 1 star rating.

This has single-handedly been the worst experience I have ever had at a student accommodation, so terrible in fact that I had to end my lease early in the middle of the year and move. Living here really negatively impacted my time in Glasgow and caused me a lot of stress and anxiety. During the seven months I spent here there was a mouse infestation that effected the entire building and lasted for months, this was not dealt with in a timely or professional manner by the staff, we had to get the council involved after being told this was not an emergency issue over Christmas break. There was also a fly problem on my floor, at one point I had more than 20 or 30 flies in my studio apartment, this was incredibly unpleasant and again was never dealt with by staff as this problem reoccurred many times. The building is not clean or well looked after, there is often unpleasant smells and trash left about. The washing machines are also not well maintained and they often malfunctioned resulting in having to run the same load multiple times. There was a real issue with people smoking cigarettes and weed which would stink up our studios. Then there is the never ending fire alarms that go off and keep ringing until the fire brigade come to check the building and turn them off, once 4 in one week including late at night and very early in the morning. There is no reception despite what is written on their website, it is a complete lie. The studio itself was not well equipped, it had no trash can, bedside table or coat hooks, I had to buy the furniture from ikea myself. Staff is often unresponsive and not professional. I truly could not recommend this place less.

Single handedly the worst accommodation ever. The staff are friendly, however, no amount of friendliness could ever make up for the horror show of this accommodation. Yes, you get a studio with your own bathroom and kitchen area, however, you will sacrifice big time in other areas. Prepare to go DAYS without water - not being able to shower, flush your toilet or drink clean water. If you are lucky, it will only last a few days! Not only that, but be prepared to be short changed on your deposit. There is barely ever anyone at reception. The front door is regularly left open and the police needed to be called because there was a dangerous drunkard wondering around the accommodation. The walls are paper thin so you have no privacy and can hear EVERYTHING that happens around you. The location is great though... I will give Central House that. I, personally, did not suffer from a mice infestation but prepare to see dead rats in the common areas. The ceiling in the common areas are broken and leaking. There is damp everywhere. The building affects the social environment - no one communicates with one another. If you are a student looking for a social, vibrant and hygienic environment - this is not the place.

Accommodation is very nice and cosy and its good for students as 2 people can share one studio in pocket friendly price with all bills included in it but their management needs to improve. Specially about fire Alarms and lift issues.

If I could give it lower I would. The constant fire alarms, the smell of weed, the stealing of parcels. When I moved out, they tried to make me pay for "damages" that either were already there or didn't even exist. Luckily I had pictures etc, so the external body ruled in my favour. Also, my mum got a letter from council tax saying we owe them, but I'm sure that will all be sorted. This place is literally a nightmare. On the plus side, at least my law degree is coming in handy.

Robert Owen is a nice place to stay and staff is very supportive and friendly. I appreciate the kind help and support from Kimberley since my move-in at the place (Jan 2024)
Hi Jinal, thank you for your lovely review! We will pass your feedback onto Kimberley! Kind regards, Xenia Students.
