Poor After-sales Services

I have been well settled in my current abode, in Prince's Place since 30.6.2023. In order to prepare for home removal to UK, I have gone back to my home country last October 2023 hoping to be back in a month time. Unfortunately, my partner was, all of sudden, suffered from a stroke and was in critical condition. It is very fortune that she is recovering after having been hospitalised for more than 3 months in my home country. Accompanying her to go through the crisis, we have been exhausted in our everyday living in particular to seek for proper treatment and rehabilitation. As such, we only started making our house removal in March and returned to UK in April this year. When coming back, we found that the internal glass of a window had a crack across it. Over the period, we are still heavily engaged in the daily rehabilitation exercises and treatment. In-between time, I have twice sent email to Willism Davis for repair service but in vain as the customer service repeated told me that it was not in the snag list and direct me to get a quote from a window company. I am totally disappointed for such a well established company being so stuck to its rules than looking into the issue, that a crack was found after a period of five months there was no one in the house. Furthermore, I wish to raise that I was being entertained to have rectification work to my house in early period last year only when I submitted an inspection report from a third party professional company even though I have submitted the standardised template much earlier. Now, I have been so exhausted that I did not prepare the snag list for the initial six months for its follow-up, and so disappointed to get no help.

Skylarks home review

We have now been living in our new home on the Skylarks estate for 3 months. We love our new home and are very happy with the quality of the build. There were small issues which have been rectified on our snagging list but nothing major that was not expected. Everything we asked to be looked at has been completed and customer care have been easy to contact etc. Stephanie the sites sales advisor has made the process of moving home very easy and stress free, she was very knowledgable and was able to help and sort any problems we had during the buying process and keep us on track. Jimmy and Jim our builder and snagger have also been brilliant, checking in on things and making sure we have been happy with everthing. Based on our experience we would recommend a William Davis home and would buy again.

Avoid buying a house from William Davis

Unfortunately we bought a house thinking that we were buying from 5 star builders, however, our experience has been anything but 5 stars. Since we moved into our property which is located at the bottom of a sloped road, we have had problems with the drainage in our garden. This has caused our garden to be water logged and in certain areas where it is particularly water logged no grass can grow. We now know that this is a common problem with many William Davis houses and sites. Our garden is completely unusable and requires extensive amounts of work to add drainage so that the foundations of our house and the garden are not water logged. Despite informing William Davis of our concerns and requesting that they add sufficient drainage to our garden to make it usable we have been told that it is not their issue to resolve. We are extremely disappointed that we have spent £400k on a house which we were expecting to be of a high standard. As we are so upset with the lack of support from William Davis I would urge others to really think before buying a house from this company. Once you buy the house they are unwilling to fix their mistakes and leave you needing to spend large amounts of money to rectify their issues. This is not something that you would expect from a 5 star building company and when buying a new build home you do not expect to have to outlay thousands of pounds to add basic drainage to your garden. We are aware that our neighbours have also been complaining about the same issue and they have had their garden drainage sorted whilst we have been refused. As I have read on other reviews there appears to be issues on many sites about certain people being favoured and having their problems resolved. Due to this I would discourage anyone to buy a house from William Davis and I would not recommend them as a company to buy a house from. We have contacted the NHBC regarding their poor workmanship.

We moved into a property on this development approximately a month ago but only now am I reading the reviews for William Davis Homes on Trustpilot. An oversight. I would certainly endorse the comments made by Danielle regarding Marie the Sales Consultant for this development. One of a number of mostly positive reviews which should provide some reassurance for prospective purchasers.There are, however, some reviewers who are less than pleased with the developer. For prospective purchasers, it would be much more helpful were they to always name the development and be specific about what were the issues they were obviously very unhappy about. Whilst an expectation that any new home will be free from faults is probably an expectation too far, what one should expect, is that any valid faults reported are quickly resolved.We had a 'snagging' visit three weeks prior to contract completion. A visit that was more usful in checking that the requested changes, upgrades and selected options had been implemented. Rather than it being a useful fault finding exercise. What was very valuable when it comes to 'issues' is the ten day post occupation check list that you can submit. Then issues that only really become obvious from actually occupying a property, can be raised. Whilst ours were generally minor issues, all the issues reported were subsequently, quickly resolved.Hopefully, as Simon reports of his experience of having previously owned a William Davis Home prior to his current purchase, then we will be just as happy with our purchase.

Our previous house was built in the late 80s by Davis’s, we lived in it for nearly 30 years so had good idea of the standards and build quality from that, the whole experience of buying a new build was made all the better thanks to Nicky at Shepshed who was with us throughout our journey from choosing the plot to assisting with the choices and extras ( thank you for your patience and endless tea and biscuit's ) we also visited most Davis sites in the East Midlands for ideas on decor etc and have to say Nicky’s colleagues on other sites were all very helpful and informativeWe are now in the property and are not disappointed, the aftercare has been brilliant Tom and his team really look after us if we need anything and Nicky calls in when passing to check all’s OK All in all a good experience

We were impressed by how friendly and helpful everyone at the Skylarks Chesterfield development were from our first visit, through the buying process and taking occupation. In particular Stephanie Holland in Sales, gave us confidence and was always accommodating. She clearly has a lot of experience in her job and performs it well.We knew before we moved in that there would still be a lot of building going on around us. All the site workers have been friendly, helpful and always considerate. The way the site is cleared up before they all go home each day is impressive. We have been in our house 3 months now. We have been very comforted by how warm the house is, the quality of the build of our property has impressed us and our list of snaggings was short. Everything was attended to promptly.We have not had recourse to contact Customer Services for anything so cannot comment on their performance. Utterly poor quality standard

Utterly poor quality standard, and an arrogance verging on contempt by senior management to admit their failings and therefore make good the issues.Lack of site management and supervision allowed their very poor sub contractor to basically do little or nothing , and what little they did has required re-addressing multiple times.Some gardens on the development have been re installed ( not just turf laid, but drainage, sub soil etc) four times, and still two years after handover we still await satisfactory completion of the works.
