DO NOT TRUST THESE COWBOYS. Despite agreeing a move out date for my flat with the landlord and Townends, after I moved out, Townends had failed to secure a new tenant (after informing me they had found one). After returning the keys to them I was left with an empty flat THAT I COULD NOT ACCESS and that I was still paying rent on. Do not trust Townends if you value your sanity. 1 star because I can't give them 0. Shocking.

Disgusting service my disabled mother is I'm dangerous conditions they were meant to bring the property up to scratch before she moved in but work is shoddy there is a long list of problems, the most serious is loose carpet on the stairs my mum has had 2 falls and been waiting a month for them to sort it out. The property manager Camilla is rude and just fobbing her off do not go with this company

As communicated by people on this forum, I cannot believe the degree of unprofessionalism displayed by the company and their agents. They have properties for which they take people's money (but they will still show up on their website and rightmove) and then cite legal loopholes to get out of the mess they put their clients through. It is one thing to be 'legally right' and a completely different thing to be 'morally upright'; the latter, I don't think the company has heard of. Hopefully this review and what several others have posted here will help prevent other people from falling prey to them.

I was a client/tenant of Townends for roughly a 9 month period after coming from an abroad location. I was treated fairly and adequately up to the point where I was moved into the property and started paying my rent. What one worker would say would be contradicted by another. My example is this, when moving into our property there was a damaged window. Nothing major, but something that would need to be taken care of. Our letting agent said that on our contract that we should not put a date as it would constrict the landlord, so we agreed. After 4 months of no contact from the landlord (whom we've never spoken to), we had to push Townends to get the job done. When speaking with one of the repair agents (sorry I don't know everyone's title), they asked me why I didn't put a time-sensitive clause on the repair, like it was my fault. I was just annoyed by the whole process and felt like I wasn't being respected as an equal. I don't know if this is the reality for every letting agent, but if I were to ever return to the UK I would not really care to work with Townends. I give a 'poor' rating because I do not believe I was treated 'fair'.

It is surprising that this company is still in existence. From all of the negative feedback and poor reviews online, it only further took personal experience to realise how absurd, ridiculous, and unprofessional this company really is. After dealing with 5 different people and sending several emails to both the Egham office and main office accounting the issues we have had nearly EVERY DAY for two weeks, we have gotten ZERO written confirmation of anything. Specifically, we have been dealing with new tenants moving into a property we have paid for. We told Townends a specific date we would move out, and instead a new date was already assumed and confirmed by them without us knowing. Additionally, a move in date has already been confirmed with the NEW tenants, which we were never told of either until after it had been confirmed. However, it was even more shocking that the landlord did not know of this confirmed move in date either! To date, this issue has not been resolved. If it wasn't for the forced rating of "1 star" I would have put "0" or negative if I could. If word-of-mouth proves influential in a companies reputation, I hope it would be this one. A word of advice? Improve your communication. It appears a lot of individual work at Townends (we know, we have talked to a different one every time we call!), so focusing on getting them to talk to one another would be a good start.

Absolutely appalling to deal with in terms of renting. Have never had any issues with previous exits and they want to charge us £10 for leaving a good condition chopping board and some cutlery. Cleaning company did a reclean no questions asked after they were dissatisfied with some areas and yet they turned around without having checked properly to say this did not take place. Photos of re-clean provided as evidence and instead of an apology, turned around to say their own branch should not have released the keys to the cleaners? Still holding onto our bond money. Landlord has been kept on all the correspondences and far easier to deal with. Wonder what the agency actually does and the existence, if any, of any level of professionalism.

Hated the rental department. They never returned any of my calls and I had to send 3-4 emails in order to get a response. The flat I liked was overpriced, they encouraged me me to make an offer, then they said that it was low and made me offer more and more to the point I ended up offering the asking price. Eventually I got the feeling that they were trying to take time, hoping that someone else would come and make a higher offer due to the perfect location. When I threatened to go to another agency and look for a different property they said that they would have negotiated with the Landlord and they also offered a 50% discount on agency fees that were insane anyway! They lied all the time and took even more time claiming that the Landlord wanted to meet me. He was unavailable for another week or so and was only able to meet me at the flat but the current tenants wouldn't give permission for us to meet there. Menawhile someone else has managed to view the flat and make an offer. They even forgot to cancel my meeting with the Landlord! No need to say that nobody apologised to me ever. I'll never even look at their ads again, I'd rather live under a bus shelter than finding a property through Townends. I'm glad I went to another agency, fees were less than half, they were honest, professional and very communicative. Everything was hassle-free and that is priceless when you're moving home!
