GoogleExactly 1 month ago now (14.11.25), I attended a viewing of an Edgware flat for rent arranged by Oyster Properties. I was to meet Gemma Groogan. The view time was 17:45. I got there at 17:40. 17:50 arrived with no phone call or text explaining lateness. I was about to call when it occurred to me that the property maybe had a rear entrance only. I walked around the block and someone was there. "Are you Gemma ?", I asked. She was. She said that I was late. I pointed out that I had already been here for 10 minutes waiting outside the address that I had been given. She laughed and said "Yes, that fools a lot of people". No Gemma. I was not "fooled". I was given an address that I got to early and waited at while an agent didn't show. I am not a mind reader. If the entrance to a flat is at the rear then IT IS COMMON SENSE THAT THE AGENT INFORMS THE POTENTIAL TENANT OF THIS FACT BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT. The viewing went ok. There was a man in the flat that I was not introduced to. I assumed the tenant but he may have been the landlord. I told Gemma that I would like the tenancy. She said that I would have to text her (I did, the sane day), and then after credit checks, the landlord would decide what he wanted to do. A week later on Friday 21 I had not heard anything back so I phoned Oyster. The staff member who took the call was very polite and professional, apologised, and told me that she would tell Gemma and she would call me back. The next day no phone call so I called back. Same discussion as before. On Monday 24 still no call so I called again. Same discussion again. By Friday 28 it had been 2 weeks, and I was still waiting for contact. I called again, and (politely) vented my frustration and exasperation at the staff member. She apologised profusely and assured me that Gemma would call back. I said that I had given up hope. As I type this it is 14.12. It is now exactly ONE MONTH since my viewing. And during that month I have received ABSOLUTELY NO CONTACT WHATSOEVER from Oyster Properties. No phone calls. No text messages. No emails. Nothing. Even after I phoned them FOUR TIMES. This is not just unprofessional - it is downright rude. Oyster Properties asked me lots of questions before agreeing to a viewing, so they obviously thought that I was a good potential tenant. Good enough to offer me a viewing. Yet after the viewing it was like it never happened and I didn't exist. This raises several questions. What was the point of Oyster arranging a viewing with me if they had no intention of considering me for the flat ? Was the man in the flat the landlord ? If he was not, had the landlord given Gemma instructions to relay to him her impressions of potential tenants and he used that to decide his shortlist ? And for whatever reason Gemma decided after meeting me that I wasn't "suitable" ? Why did Gemma say that the landlord would conduct credit checks before making a decision ? How could the landlord conduct a credit check on me when the only information Oyster had about me was my name, phone number, and email ? Why does Oyster not inform potential tenants attending a viewing of the location of the entrance to the flat ? Is it some kind of intelligence/mind reading test ? How has Oyster got such a high average rating on Google ? The crucial question is the first one I asked in my list above: "What was the point of Oyster arranging a viewing with me if they had no intention of considering me for the flat ?". The only answer I can come up with is that Oyster DID in fact consider me a potential tenant. But that something happened during/immediately after the viewing that disqualified me - eg they gave the flat to another tenant. Or Gemma/the landlord didn't like my face. Or the landlord changed their mind about renting it. And then Oyster Properties decided that it was not worth their time or effort to call me or text me or email to let me know this. There are several words for this kind of behaviour. These words are: Rude Unprofessional Lazy. And that is why I have awarded Oyster Properties one star.

GoogleWe had a positive experience with Oyster and Manesh in particular in the sale of our home. Manesh was helpful, responsive and knowledgeable about the area. We chose Oyster over some of the larger national companies as we found those companies to have rather rigid thinking about listing price which ultimately proved to be wrong. There were a few minor hiccups in the process but on the fundamentals, Manesh in particular did a great job. Overall, we were very happy with the level of service we received.

Repairs are dealt with promptly and they are quick to respond to our emails. We recently moved out of the country and I'm very much grateful to Venessa for facilitating our move.
