Buying a new home should be easy right, well the initial purchase was quite a trouble free process with good customer service. However, as soon as there is an issue then the customer service isn’t as good. Our gas boiler was piped up incorrect so the heating didn’t work as efficiently as it should, issue was solved though. The biggest problem is with the garden, if it rains then the garden is unusable, this was highlighted to barratts over 12 months ago and there is still no clear idea of what they are going to do. We have had numerous visits to the property, from the ground workers checking that they have installed to the correct specifications and various home care staff to look at the issues, with no one willing to give any idea as to what they are going to do. The grass doesn’t grow properly as the ground is too wet, if it rains then it becomes a small swimming pool and they think that this is acceptable. The complete design of the drainage in the garden in my eyes is in adequate as the fall on the garden doesn’t fall towards the drain installed, not sure how this hasn’t been picked up earlier in the design process. I’m unsure when there will be any resolution to the issue if any at all. I’d seriously think before buying a property again through Barratts as the after care is nothing short of shocking.

Really happy! There have only been very minor snags so far ( moved in last week) and the site manager has been amazing at getting things sorted in no time. The build quality and finish is great. The keyworker discount helped me massively with the purchase costs. We absolutely love our new home.

TrustpilotAvoid New Build House from Barratt.
I have purchased the house “Kingsville” from this developer. The over all house quality is good, however garden is not up to standard. Once the purchase is completed the initial thought were very positive, however as the day passed the situation took dramatic turn. Barrat site managers left the job who was actually responsible to collect the feedbacks and address the defects, Barrat did not discuss this and never informed us about his departure and never appointed any replacement. Since then all the defects is being run by “Representative” from New Home Customer Care - a division of Barrat. And whenever you report defect she will not acknowledge it and will always try to push you off before even attempt to get it repaired. The attitude is very poor. The recent example is I have reported a leak, she sent a plumber and when he came he just checked the caps and said it done, however leak was still there when I reported with photos that leak was not in the caps but in copper pipe, she sent the plumber again but this time he same switched off the washing machine and states someone will come to attend the leak in 48 hours. 1 week past and no one visited when I sent follow up email to assigned teams and she in very poorly addressed email mentioned that all defects are addressed and no more action is required.Just for the sake of few thousand pounds saving don’t take a risk to buy house with Barrat. Honest experience. Go for old house/or else where but not this builder.

All staff have been friendly and helpful throughout a long process waiting for our house to be built, we have been kept updated of any issues or changes to our build and have always been able to visit to see progress. Now we are in, the site supervisor can’t do enough to help as we go through snagging etc

Excellent service. The Sales Advisor at Hopecropt did a great job in explaining and showing us the available properties. He treated us with courtesy and respect. He was patient with us and was happy to show us the house that we thought was not within our budget. But because he understood the mathematics of the amount we could borrow, we were able to make a better decision. We chose a house we would not regret.

From the first visit to the site me and my partner were made to feel special from Louise and Gavin. They weren’t pushy or made you uncomfortable as some sales teams can be. They listened to our needs and pointed us in the direction of our dream home. They explained all the steps and also broken down what schemes were available to help purchase the house and even went out their own way to get me and my partner the best possible deal. From start to finish they were constantly keeping us in the loop either by phone, text or email we didn’t once feel like we were being neglected or forgotten about. Alistair the site manager made us feel comfortable and at ease breaking down the whole construction process bit by bit as well as explaining in great detail the warranty, the dos and donts as well how to look after the property as it settles. The whole team at Caldergardens site have been amazing and could have asked for anything else.

For us, house buying had been very stressful until we found The Poppies at Aylesford. We had not even considered a new build. Staff are kind and welcoming, making us feel comfortable through all the stages so far.
