GoogleI am thrilled to be renting a property through SLCA marlborough. Lesley, Katie and Michelle are fabulous! I have used SLCA in the past and really valued the quality customer service and commitment to supporting their tenants. Circumstances lead to my using a different agent for my last property and that is when I learnt that not all agents are to the standard of SLCA marlborough!!

GoogleThe previous agents I used were very poorly organised so I switched to SLCA. I have used them for over 10 years and they have been excellent in every way. They are efficient and organised, and nothing seems too much to ask. I would highly recommend them.

GoogleI was wholly dissatisfied with the previous agents who handled our three properties, so I dismissed them and asked SLCA to handle everything. From the outset they have handled our business with total professional competence and success. No problem has deflected them, and I have total confidence in their services now and into the future. I would recommend them with utmost hand-on-heart sincerity. They are simply marvellous.

GoogleLesley and her team at SLCA have acted for the past two years as property managers and Landlord agents for the house I rented on a short term assured let in Marlborough. They could not have given better service. They were always polite, professional and efficient and were prompt to respond if ever I needed to have contact with them or to request attention to the property. They were also always a pleasure to deal as was anyone from their extensive team of skilled service contractors who visited to make repairs or service the property. Lesley was fair and reasonable always. I would not hesitate to return to SLCA if ever I needed to rent a property again through an agent and, in my experience, Lesley and her team are the best agents in the High Street.

GoogleI used SLCA as Letting Agents for around six years and always found them to be most helpful in respect of regular property inspections, and more importantly paying rental payments promptly. They also have a good set of subcontractors who can be trusted to undertake any necessary remedial works. More recently I have used SLCA to sell a property. It was not the easiest property to sell due to its location however SLCA persevered until it was sold. I would have no hesitation in recommending SLCA as either Letting Agents or Estate Agents.

GoogleMy husband and I rented a cottage via SLCA for four years and found them to be excellent. Our privacy was always respected and queries and maintenance issues were dealt with swiftly. Apart from being extremely professional, the staff were friendly and personable: we enjoyed Lesley's inspection visits as a chance to have a coffee and catch up.

The McFarlane Team dealt with my house sale from beginning to end with unfailing politeness and tenacity. They were particularly effective in keeping me abreast of progress throughout, and 'caught the ball' when other agents in the chain had been less vigilant and dynamic. As such, the sale culminated on time....and without drama or stress.

Whole team were professional, considerate and patient. We chose McFarlane to sell our house through as we had seen a property we wanted to buy through then. Unfortunately we had to pull out of our purchase and find an alternative after a survey highlighted structural concerns. They were also understanding and patient. We managed to proceed with our sale and keep to original time frame.

During this time, they were efficient at dealing with any maintenance jobs that needed attention. They were flexible with regards to fitting around our timings re the quarterly proper type inspection and they were always respectful that they were in our 'home'. We were delighted with the service we received from McFarlane when we sold our flat. From the first moment they took on the business we felt we were in professional hands who knew what they were doing at every stage. Dominic came to view the apartment in the first instant and was enthusiastic and agreed an asking price.. He managed to get two viewings within two days and two offers arising from those viewings. We accepted one and were then in the very capable hands of the sales progressor, Silvia. She didn't sit back and hope things would happen but was working on our behalf the entire time from acceptance of the offer to completion. She was even in touch on her days off to ensure that the sale was going forward. Her support, and the support of all the staff, helped us through the worrying time of selling the apartment, Thank you to all the staff. Recommended without reservation.

Fantastic service, professional and friendly from Julian, Dominic and Silvia at McFarlane. We sold our property and bought our new home through McFarlane. The process was quick, efficient and easy. From a consumer point-of-view, it's about as good as Customer Service as you can receive. We were kept informed of progress of the sale and purchase, with detailed information provided at each key stage, including 3rd party communication (vendor, buyer, solicitor etc). We are so pleased with our new home and cannot thank the team at McFarlane enough. I will recommend them to all my friends and family.

My experience with McFarlane after over half a year in Swindon has been thoroughly positive. As consultants my colleague and I are dependent on somewhat flexible arrangements, and I'm happy to say that McFarlane have been very accommodating to our circumstances. The apartment itself is in excellent condition and good condition. There have only been few instances where we needed help with maintenance and each time the situation was addressed swiftly and the issue dealt with in a timely manner. Staff are always helpful, and each time I called in or dropped by we had nothing but friendly exchanges. Mails are replied to swiftly and there is always someone on the phone to help me, even when our primary property manager is unavailable. Overall I wholeheartedly recommend renting with McFarlane.

GoogleRIDICULOUS Me and my partner were interested in a one bedroom flat they were advertising. Called on Tuesday morning to see if I could book in a viewing, the lady who answered said the gentleman who handles the property was in a meeting but she would pass on the message and get him to contact me later on. The day goes by and no one calls. I call them back on Wednesday, the gentleman says he "didn't get my message" and tells me they'd have to arrange the viewing with the tenants and see if they were ok with me and my partner going round on Saturday at lunch time to see the flat. He said he would contact them and then get back to me. Once again, the day goes by and no one calls me to confirm or cancel the appointment. I decide to wait until Thursday afternoon when I give them another call and the gentleman informs me they can't get in touch with the tenant (which, in 2016 I find really hard to believe) so they can't confirm my viewing. To this point, after having to chase them up like that for something so little and simple as a 5 minutes viewing, I got fed up and informed the gentleman that if he couldn't confirm the appointment by Friday morning then I would have considered it cancelled. I was shocked and absolutely not impressed when he told me if I wanted to cancel I would have had to call them (AGAIN) to cancel a viewing that's never actually been confirmed in the first place! I don't hear back from them all Friday so I assume our appointment is cancelled, but on Saturday at lunch time I get a call from them saying that we had a viewing booked in for that time... I am honestly appealed, I work in customer service and I know I'd lose my job if I had to be so rude and inconsiderate with my clients! If they can't even organise a simple viewing by communicating with tenants and getting back to people who are interested in the property, I don't even want to begin to imagine what it would be like to work with them in case you decide to move forward and rent the property. I surely won't ever find out, not keen on dealing with them again!

The Trusted AgentPoor, disappointing and over-priced service
I am incredibly disappointed with the service provided by McFarlane. To begin with, I was misquoted the admin fee when looking around the apartment and was subsequently shocked to find that I had to pay an additional £250 as an end of tenancy cleaning fee - which in itself is extortionate considering I had 3 quotes from other local companies quoting me around a third of what McFarlane was charging (and considering my flat is small and uncarpeted, there's no way it would cost £250 to clean it). Secondly, the admin fee that I was quoted at the point of paying was £100 extra than what's advertised on the website. While I sought to rectify both of these issues with the director - which I did (a reduction of £100 on the cleaning fee and the payment of what was quoted on the website for the admin fee) it was already a lot of hassle before anything really happened. There was then the issue of the estate agents having limited information about the property; they didn't know that it came with a garage; the bills system wasn't explained properly (as some are included and others, like electricity, are payable in different ways); I wasn't told who else/how many others lived in the building; upon asking for dimensions of the flat, they failed in giving me any. Finally, when it came to moving in, I was incredibly shocked and disappointed (considering my above comments) to find that the apartment hadn't been properly cleaned; given the amount that was paid for cleaning, I expected it to be pretty much immaculate. Quite the opposite: dusty and sticky surfaces, dusty window ledges, marks left on the hob and oven and the shower wasn't properly cleaned. I was then further disappointed with the response from McFarlane since this was delaying me in my move. A sense of urgency to rectify the situation was lacking and it resulted in what's already known to be an incredibly stressful experience in being even more stressful. A really unpleasant start to the move. To the people who work at McFarlane on a personal level, they all seem pleasant and polite but in a business sense and as service providers, I feel really let down as a tenant and customer. Fingers crossed things improve over the coming months.
