My experience with McFarlane after over half a year in Swindon has been thoroughly positive. As consultants my colleague and I are dependent on somewhat flexible arrangements, and I'm happy to say that McFarlane have been very accommodating to our circumstances. The apartment itself is in excellent condition and good condition. There have only been few instances where we needed help with maintenance and each time the situation was addressed swiftly and the issue dealt with in a timely manner. Staff are always helpful, and each time I called in or dropped by we had nothing but friendly exchanges. Mails are replied to swiftly and there is always someone on the phone to help me, even when our primary property manager is unavailable. Overall I wholeheartedly recommend renting with McFarlane.

The Trusted AgentPoor, disappointing and over-priced service
I am incredibly disappointed with the service provided by McFarlane. To begin with, I was misquoted the admin fee when looking around the apartment and was subsequently shocked to find that I had to pay an additional £250 as an end of tenancy cleaning fee - which in itself is extortionate considering I had 3 quotes from other local companies quoting me around a third of what McFarlane was charging (and considering my flat is small and uncarpeted, there's no way it would cost £250 to clean it). Secondly, the admin fee that I was quoted at the point of paying was £100 extra than what's advertised on the website. While I sought to rectify both of these issues with the director - which I did (a reduction of £100 on the cleaning fee and the payment of what was quoted on the website for the admin fee) it was already a lot of hassle before anything really happened. There was then the issue of the estate agents having limited information about the property; they didn't know that it came with a garage; the bills system wasn't explained properly (as some are included and others, like electricity, are payable in different ways); I wasn't told who else/how many others lived in the building; upon asking for dimensions of the flat, they failed in giving me any. Finally, when it came to moving in, I was incredibly shocked and disappointed (considering my above comments) to find that the apartment hadn't been properly cleaned; given the amount that was paid for cleaning, I expected it to be pretty much immaculate. Quite the opposite: dusty and sticky surfaces, dusty window ledges, marks left on the hob and oven and the shower wasn't properly cleaned. I was then further disappointed with the response from McFarlane since this was delaying me in my move. A sense of urgency to rectify the situation was lacking and it resulted in what's already known to be an incredibly stressful experience in being even more stressful. A really unpleasant start to the move. To the people who work at McFarlane on a personal level, they all seem pleasant and polite but in a business sense and as service providers, I feel really let down as a tenant and customer. Fingers crossed things improve over the coming months.

I have moved twice with McFarlanes in the past 12 months and the level of service has been outstanding. They have worked hard to make the moves successful and when issues have arisen they have dealt with them immediately and professionally. It is my second year with McFarlane lettings and I find them to be responsive and efficient, I have had nothing that could not be sorted with a phone call.. So as a letting agent I would say they have performed well. Kelly my contact at McFarlane has always been available to sort out any issues I have had. Overall I would recommend then as a Letting Agent in Swindon.

Friendly and knowledgable staff, a relaxed atmosphere and the best pick of properties in and around Cricklade. This team are happy to help at every turn, kept us informed throughout the buying process and, when we had concerns, they were able to resolve them effectively and with little delay. We tried the other agents and found ourselves very disappointed. Mostly false smiles, false promises and flash suits. Use McFarlane for your next move.

Whenever there has been a problem with the property they have been really quick in getting a contractor out to investigate and solve any particular issue.. I wanted to sell my property in Cricklade. I visited another estate agent and nearly fell asleep with the amount of waffle I got! I was surprised at the amount of process that was required. Booking this, booking that, what dates and times are you available etc etc etc. I said thanks and walked out saying I might return. I then got myself a sausage roll from the butchers as a reward to myself and proceeded to walk into McFarlenes. I was greeted by Julian and explained that I wanted to sell. He immediately knew my property, gave me a rough valuation, one which seemed fair and sensible (I'm always wary of estate agents giving over inflated valuations to get the business) and said that he already had a buyer in mind. There was no pressure to sign there and then, he told me to leave it with him, took my details and said he'd be in contact shortly. Which he duly did, saying he had a buyer. The rest as they say is history and I can barely remember it, as the Julian and Dom seemed to make the process slick and easy (although I know its not). I would suggest if you just want a deal done, go and see these guys

We are extremely pleased with FcFarlanes the staff and particulary Kelly have been extremely helpful and effiecient kelly also helped with local facilities as we have recently relocated from Devon, our move went smoothly and they are quick in sorting any issues out and are easy to get hold of. We strongly recommend this company. The property was immaculate and the handing over procedure was excellent again thank you to Kelly who met me at the property to go through the heating and hot water etc which she even set up for me!!!!
