I recently bought a house in September 2022 in Oakwell Place, Houghton Regis and from the moment I was interested in buying the house to moving and settling in I've been well looked after. Michelle who assisted with the sale was great in terms of answering any questions about the area and the development when asked then when moving in Dave Scott has been instrumental in making the process easy. He's always unbelievably friendly when speaking to him and shows genuine care when tending to issues with the house (which have been very few) and works to get the issues sorted promptly.

Oakwell Place - Houghton Regis

We moved into a new build property in May 2022 in Houghton Regis (Oakwell Place). Although there have been a few minor issues that are to be expected with a new build, we are thrilled with our new home. The site manager, Dave Scott, has been an exceptional help to us. He is always friendly, polite, and genuinely concerned about our satisfaction in our new property. Dave has promptly addressed any concerns we've had, whether it's been re-adjusting external doors due to house settling, fixing some rendering imperfections, or answering questions about the new heating system. Our neighbours in the area have also expressed their high regard for Dave, speaking very positively about his attentiveness and expertise.We would also like to thank Michelle from the Site Office for guiding us through the process and ensuring the sale was kept on track and carried out until completion.

Honest review

Unsatisfied with the aesthetic of the grass.This is a new build, so I assumed that everything would be accustomed to my liking. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case. The soil doesn’t absorb the rain water, the mud becomes too messy. Due to such circumstances I had to change and in fact purchase artificial grass and had to pay for the fitting.But the house overall is great!

Abbey homes have been amazing from start to finish with the process of buying our new home Plot 80 Wavendon, Cathy kept us updated and kept in contact weekly throughout the whole process which was lovely to not have to chase for anything, Ben also was great and helped us throughout the process. Once moved in the site manager Dean always checked in and for anything we needed he would be straight over to sort, snagging was all done with no issues and Dean was contactable at all times. What a great experience with some lovely people involved. Site staff all really respectful when coming in and out of the site to get to our house. overall really impressed with the services we have received and love our new home! Great service

We started living over half year ago in our new built home in Slade Green. We were happy that we got the opportunity to step on the property ladder. Our house is great, exactly what a young family needs. Abbey Homes have done a good job delivering the house. As an architect I know that you will find in every new building snagging items. But we were more then pleasantly surprised to experience how Abbey Homes site manager Valentine has resolved all the issues in quick and professional manner. The Abbey Home team has done really their up most best to make us happy with the house we bought. The site manager, and everyone else we've dealt with on the sales side have been so so helpful. We love our house.

Manor Grange - brilliant experience!

I recently bought a house in the Manor Grange development and I cannot recommend Abbey Homes more! I must say, I was very surprised to read some of the less positive reviews here because my experience has been nothing but positive.Dean, the site manager has been brilliant and extremely helpful. There weren't that many snags as the houses are finished very well, but Dean came personally and rectified all the little snags (and more!). He noticed little bits I didn't and he made sure it was all sorted. The sales team have also been great from start to finish and are still always around to help when needed.I hadn't noticed that a couple of my bricks were chipped on the corner of the house - one of the contractors knocked to let me know that he is going to change them - he did so very promptly! It's great that the team are rectifying issues that even I had not noticed.The only slight down side is that you cannot customise the house when you buy (e.g. sockets, kitchen, sinks, spotlights etc.) so I ended up spending money once I was in to get exactly what I wanted. Having said that, this was made very clear to me right from the start so there were no surprises. All in all, a great experience with Abbey. Brilliant customer service from sales to site. Dean in particular was an absolute gem - super friendly and very helpful! Same goes for all of the site staff I have interacted with.

Saffron Walden Crocus fields - Dave Molloy.We recently bought a new home on the Crocus Fields new development in Saffron Walden. As with any new build property there will always be snags and minor issues to resolve however it is the quality of the follow up and resolve that matters. Dave Molloy, the site manager at the development, has been brilliant. Since we moved in during November 2022, he has been responsive to any requests or questions we have had, made us feel like his only customer (which we are certainly not) and overall exemplified great customer service. Very happy to recommend.

Only rated 1 star because cant rate 0...Moved into a new build in oct '21 in Dover.A long list of snagging issues only 1 completed..our garden is like a swamp when it rains, extra drainage has been put in but not completed and has not improved the issue at all. We need 3 new kitchen cupboard doors. We have a chunk out of a door frame that has just been painted over. Wrong flooring in the bathroom which has a big bubble in the middle and there's more. November '22 i was told the garden issue was being passed to their ground engineers, we haven't heard a thing.Today, 17/01/23 I emailed again, as we have a leaky roof which has come through to our en suite, only to be told our property hasnt been handed to customer care yet so they won't do anything. They are now passing this onto the site managers who are no longer on site and was useless when they were..325k for house that we have so many problems with its unreal

Stay well away unless you love being ignored

Very rude company that just completely ignores you.We have had so many issue moving in from wall being out having to be taken down and put back, heating all plumbed up wrong so ceilings down and re plumbed, porch out of line and toilet constantly blocking. Believe me the list goes on.We are currently being ignored about our down stairs toilet and this has been going on since we moved in 27 months ago.Stay well away it’s not worth it.

New abbey home in Houghton Regis and Dave Scott

We recently brought a new home from abbey in August 2022 in the Hougton Regis Bidwell area (off Thorn Road). We are very happy with our new home despite a few snags which you get with all new builds. Dave Scott is one of the site managers at this site. He is friendly, polite and really cares about us feeling at home in our new property. He has addressed to all the snags in a timely manner whether this is re-adjusting internal doors due house settling, fixing a gap in the guttering, any queries we have with the new heating system, etc. Other neighbours we have spoke to in the area also speak very positively about Dave.

Down sizing in your 80s

This is the first estate house we have purchased and very pleased with its accommodation and location at Crocus Fields Saffron Walden. We are both over 80 and had lived in our self designed and built house for 50 years, so moving home was quite stressful. Hannah Beckwith was very helpful and understanding, especially as the anticipated completion date was delayed by about 3 months. There was a minimal amount of snagging and we are very pleased with the quality of finish. Any minor problems or queries have been quickly dealt with by the site manager Dave Malloy, who has been a very reassuring presence. The only reason we have not given a 5 star review is because of the delayed completion.

They understand that buying a property is one of the most difficult decisions a person can make and they guide you through the process every step of the way. Horrendous experience

Horrendous experience, we have had so many issue since moving in and I don’t just mean adjust a door - we have had ceilings down due to house being plumbed up wrong, wall taken down and rebuilt as they was out. issues with internet not working/weird up wrong. We have also been having issues with the down stairs toilet blocking and ignoring my emails to get this sorted. They let the grounds of the estate get out of control that everyone has had to complain many of times.

Great home, great customer care!

Abbey have been great to deal with. We bought our home in the Oakwell Place development 2 months ago now and we couldn't be happier. There were of course some small snags as it expected with a new build, but they were dealt with and we love the house.
