GoogleI have just finished renovating a house and was undecided whether to rent out the house and live in my flat, or vice versa. Needing to discuss the various options and costs with a professional agent, I was referred to David Sinclair at Carter Jonas upon personal recommendation. Turns out it was an excellent recommendation! David immediately viewed both of my properties and took the time to discuss with me in detail both my requirements and my situation. He gave thorough, considered advice and made a very careful effort to tailor Carter Jonas's services accordingly. He quickly booked an excellent photographer for one of the properties and the office posted a beautiful advert. Viewings were immediate and by the Monday immediately following the first weekend's viewings, the property was reserved for incoming tenants. David took care to ensure that references were secured as quickly as possible and my communications with him were consistently excellent. David has done a superb job and I shall be very happy to work with him again in the future.

GoogleI found the staff at Carter Jonas - York to all be very knowledgeable, curteous and friendly. It’s a stressful time securing all the paperwork and ensuring everything runs smoothly and Lois was brilliant in keeping us updated on how things were progressing - at times, more so than our own estate agents/solicitors. So much so that next time we move it will be with and through Carter Jonas. Another key selling point for them was how knowledgable Keith, the chap who showed us around the property, was. He answered our questions and if he didn’t know the answer he admitted it and then went away and found out for us - very impressive!! All in all a 5-star service and experience.

Where do I begin with this sly estate agent? Buying a house is stressful, even more stressful during a time of inflated prices. Fortunately, we were willing to pay 65k over the asking price to secure a house in best and finals on Alwoodley Lane. The first issue was Dacres didn’t send staff around when we sent the first bank to value the property (like other agents do) which is incompetent from their side. HSBC said the property was overvalued and not worth more than £550k (we were trying to pay £615k) Virgin bank said the same. While in the process of trying the third bank, totalling to over £1000 in valuations, Dacres lied about supporting us with the sale, relisted the house and sold to another buyer today behind our back and against written agreement. We have a 7 month old baby, we’re over £1000 out of pocket and due to leave our place in less than 1 month time. What a disgusting way to handle a sale. *EDIT IN RESPONSE TO AGENT* The statement about my complaint being incorrect is untrue and they are still lying. If we were told viewings were happening and that the vendors were taking new offers we would not of paid for a third valuation. As stated in my original complaint - We have this in writing that the house was taken off the market. We also have in writing that the vendors from the vendors themselves that no further offers were to be considered until we had done the third valuation. Your secret agenda that was not communicated with us is disgusting. We have spoken to numerous agents who have said during this particular market they have been sending staff around as banks are resisting inflated prices. Perhaps you should think about this.
Danielle, we are very disappointed to read this negative review and that you feel we have acted anything other than professional and in our client’s best interests. The points which you raise are factually incorrect, and we would be more than happy to discuss these with you in more detail. In response to your concerns a) It is not common practice to accompany a valuer to a property. Surveyors are instructed to work on behalf of the bank’s interests, and any influence from an agent would be highly unprofessional. b) After two down valuations and waiting nearly three weeks for a third valuation still to be arranged, our clients took the decision to re market the property. It was neither our client’s, nor our intention, to see you in a difficult position. Our clients needed to do what was best for their own situation. You were kept fully informed of the remarketing and the reasons behind it.

I'm both buying a property and selling a property through Dacres and from the start the experience has been outstanding with excellent communication from Gavin, Sue, Adam and Em! I can't thank them all enough for keeping me regularly up to date, being very honest, fair and balanced in the feedback and getting my property advertised so quickly! Within a day they had 10 viewings and I've had 2 offers already. They have worked the most unsociable hours to help me sell quickly knowing that it is a requirement for the seller of the house I'm looking to buy and have been so flexible in their approach. Customer service at it's best! In all honesty I'd never heard of them before thinking of putting my house on the market, I was given their information through a local Facebook page recommendation - I definitely see why they were recommended! Ilkley Office mess purchasers about. Despite us being told our offer was the highest, which was way above the asking price - they wanted us to go to final and best offers using our offer (which we said was best and final when given) as a leverage to up the price. Utter charlatans; no doubt they told other prospective purchasers how far they were off the mark too! We withdrew-purchasers need to stop falling into this trap as no doubt the others left didn’t know the revised situation.
We are disappointed to hear your frustrations but please note that it is the sellers’ decision to take offers through to best and final offers and like most estate agents it is not our practice to disclose third party bids to other interested buyers, hence the privacy involved in sealed bids. If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to contact us.

Dacre and Sons will not honour theIR word, nor treat you like human being. my tenancy was due to end during lockdown, and dispute a verbal contract that I would only pay for the days I was on the property, as soon as I was out, they claimed "normal practice is to give a month's notice so you will have to pay a full months rent" Normal practice?! They have zero compassion, and see you as nothing more than a bank account to bleed dry. everyone else in the UK right now is banding together and helping out their friends and neighbors. but Dacre? no they do nothing but try and get more money out of you and use a pandemic as an excuse. shame on you. DO NOT TRUST THIS ESTATE AGENTS.
