Carter Jonas York reviews

Outstanding service from Louise Hirst, at Carter Jonas - York, and a delight to deal with. Louise sold our house in no time at all, after other agents had failed. Impressive from the outset, Louise personally oversaw the sale, right through to completion, even though she has the support of a first rate team. I never had to progress chase once (how often can one say that when dealing with professionals on the frustrating business of buying and selling residential property?). Exchange of contracts within 7 weeks and completion one week thereafter. I would have no hesitation in recommending Louise or Carter Jonas.

Frustrating and hampered by the representatives lack of relevant knowledge. Generally negative attitude towards prospective tenants. Carter Jonas have a rather demeaning approach to tenant selection. They run a beauty parade. You need to pay to enter the competition. If you fail the credit checks you get a refund. If you are not selected for the short list you get a refund. If you are not chosen by the landlord you get a refund. If you voluntarily drop out you DO NOT get a refund. Be careful of this last one. Even if you change your mind it would be cheaper to be rude to the landlord rather than come clean and admit you no longer want the property. Even if, just for example, you decided you had little faith in the agents commitment to refurbish the property to minimal habitation standards, remove the bee nest, fix the leaking roof, fix the eye-watering stench in the lounge and put the doors back on. Even then, you are still not going to get a refund.

We are new to the country and it is our first time to rent a property in York. Thanks to Carter Jonas and be more specific, to Kate, our letting agent, who is very professional and helpful. Whenever we have any queries, she responds promptly and always provides us with sensible and thoughtful advice and solutions. We are happy with our renting experience with Carter Jonas so far and would definitely recommend their service.

When we decided to put our house in York on the market we had no hesitation in placing it with Carter Jonas. We have used them before and had nothing but exemplary service. All the staff are pleasant, helpful and know exactly what you want making this a comfortable hassle free experience. We dealt mainly with Louise and Jo who were always accessible and encouraging. Many thanks to a really professional team.

Let down by last minute effective cancellation of valuation due to Dacres double booking and not really given another option. Could not recommend.

I used dacres to sell my house. My solicitor paid their bill the day it was provided but I was shocked to receive intimidating emails from them threatening legal action because THEY had fraudulently forgotten/did not add the VAT. I lost money getting funds from long term investments because of their incompetence.
