TrustpilotNightmare - Unresponsive, Neglectful After-Sales Service
Bought a Cala Homes new build in Buckler's Park last year. Huge disappointment! Submitted a snagging list, but 8 months later, major issues like a faulty bi-fold door, damaged kitchen units, broken flooring, toilet tiles, and a broken roof tile and along with other issues are still unresolved without any explanation.The site manager and the assistant site manager are unresponsive. While the Customer Services Team has repeatedly told me that my property remains under the construction team's (site manager) purview, this essentially creates a situation of refusal of assistance and neglect.This whole experience has been incredibly stressful and disrespectful. Time and effort spent chasing them are in vain, and what I receive is neglect. Disappointed with Cala Homes' after-sales service. Don't recommend them based on my experience.

I have recently purchased a house built by Cala in the Rosebrook/ Hambrook estate and I am less than impressed with the quality. Starting with the paint work, the incorrect paint was used on the skirting and those were done in a slapdash manner- plenty of areas missed. I have also spent much time getting paint off of the vinyl flooring and fixtures- it had genuinely dripped on every surface. Also, the estate community has some members who make living here difficult with 'suped up' cars, roaring music and leaving bins and torn bags outside of their property for days on end- attracting foxes and littering neighbouring gardens. Back inside the property, I have also haf damaged items installed regardless of their condition. However, the one redeeming feature was the contracted company that came to sort one complaint- hopefully I can adjust this review when the other issues are dealt with.

Having recently purchased a new build property from Cala Homes in Horsham we cannot be happier with the level of service we have received. From the very start to completion Mikaela in the sales office was absolutely brilliant. She ensured we were updated on every aspect of the build and that we had all the information we needed. It was also so good to be communicating with the same person throughout. Once we had moved into our new home Dave worked incredibly hard ensuring all snagging was completed with the minimum of interference to us, and again was really good at informing us of the works and time frames etc. He checked all works upon completion and ensured we were happy before the handover to the after sales team at Cala. We were introduced to Kerry from the after sales team and have been in contact with her several times with questions and she has responded promptly without delay. We have been very lucky to have had these people on our Cala home journey as they really do look after you every step of the way. Buying a new home from Cala really does give you piece of mind as you have service at its best! 5*****

I bought a 5 bedroom home from Cala and it has been an extremely poor experience from start to finish, over 2 years later. Cala are nothing but a Marketing company who hire in contractors to actually build the houses. Very few of the people I have interacted with have actually worked for Cala. I see many positive reviews for Cala on this site and they are mainly by people who are still paying deposits or are in the initial phases of purchase or moving in.When you do move in, Cala hound you to complete a survey within the first two weeks, let’s call this the honeymoon phase as you are still excited about your new home and any issues you notice, Cala assure you will be fixed ASAP.So, you complete the survey and give them a glowing review. This is how Cala get such a good reputation online. If Cala customers could only complete the survey after the two year warranty period, I’m certain the reviews would be somewhat different.What I’ve learned over the past two years of Cala home ownership-Absolutely every aspect of the house has been built to the lowest possible standard. Gardens with poor drainage, soil quality, dead bushes and trees, this is a recurring theme in my street.Windows and doors poorly installed Security systems poorly installed Driveways poorly constructed Heating systems not fit for purpose and again poorly installed Flooring not properly installed Very poor standard of room construction and decoration meaning lots and lots of remedial work required Anyway, hopefully you get the idea. Every single aspect of the house needs attention because it has been done on the cheap by the cheapest contractor to tender for the job.You also have to become a project manager for the next two years as any snags you report to Cala get noted down only for a confused contractor to appear at your door who has no idea what he is actually attending to do. They have a piece of paper with one sentence on it like “ Windows need attention” so, you then have to explain to the contractor what you think the issues are, only for the contractor to state he doesn’t have the necessary tools or materials to resolve. So, another visit has to be booked wasting everyone’s time. This is a recurring theme for the duration of your warranty period. Despite me complaining to Cala several times that the information I was giving to them wasn’t be communicated to the contractors, Cala would insist that it was only for the contractors to appear again with little or no information about the issues at hand.I have had literally hundreds of appointments to resolve snags over the warranty period, many were repeat visits purely through poor communication. Not once did Cala actively manage issues, it was purely down to me who has zero technical knowledge in this field.I cannot stress enough that buying a Cala house is an horrible ordeal that will drain your life force and actually affect you mentally for years after the initial purchase.

We bought our new home on Fernleigh Park at the end of February and it was a fabulous experience. Both the sales team (led by Hannah) and the site team (led by Richard) have been extremely professional and helpful every step of the way. We've been in our home now for nearly 8 weeks and couldn't be happier. Whether the preparation in the run up to completion, moving day or the after care. This is by far our best new house buying experience. Well done to the team at CALA!

Paul came round to fix our painting snags and was fantastic from start to finish. His communication was great throughout the whole process, ranging from phoning ahead of time to let us know he was having car problems and might be late (he managed to make it on time despite the flat tyre) to explaining the sanding and painting process. He also noticed small spots that we hadn't seen and was happy to fix them for us which saved us further calls to Cala support and extra trips for the Cala painting team. He was excellent and we're very happy with the work he did for us! Thanks again Paul!

So Cala are still as useless as ever! They're refusing to attend to my front and back door issues even though they have a 10 year warranty and the contractor was out 3 weeks ago to look at the warped door! My rear door won't close correctly either leaving my property insecure at times. I'll get my own contractor out and pass on the bill. Ive had enough of their useless non existent customer service. I have now involved the NHBC for the third time to get them to action repairs - not such a 5 star builder once they have your cash! @cala.co.uk

Although yours has ended, please be assured our contactor has looked into these issues for you, however as these are not due to a manufacture’s defect, they are not covered by their guarantee. Over the past 2 months my husband and I have enjoyed our experience viewing various new Cala homes in Linlithgow. A very big personal thank you goes to Susan and Caroline who looked after us and couldn’t have been more helpful. They were extremely knowledgeable and patient when it came to answering the many questions we had. We never felt pressured in any way, nothing was too much trouble and they always went the extra mile. Their friendly and relaxed approach is a credit to them both.Although we haven’t, as yet, found the right Cala home for us our intention is to keep searching as we are very impressed with the quality and service this company provide.

2 years since we moved into Cala Jordanhill300 plus snags, dangerous electrics which Cala refused to fix, had to pay for an electrician which took 3 days to make the house safe. We now have a report advising if we had a fire the house is a danger to life.You agreed to accept a RICS surveyor report but now refusing to go through the formal RICS dispute channels, We cannot waste another 2 years avoiding fixes that you are aware of (front door contractor sent by Cala said it needed replacing over a year ago and still not fixed!And how do you dispute IR images showing you failed to put insulation in the roof…. We had to pay an electrician to make our house safe this took 3 days work to make the house safe. Etc Etc Etc

We bought a Cala home in East Calder; it was our first property move in over 15 years. We were surprised at the level of remedial activities on what was a brand-new home, but it is all thanks to our Customer Care Manager Darren Monteith that what could have been a very negative experience has been dealt with very professionally, within an acceptable timeframe, with excellent communication and updates at regular intervals. St Peter’s Qtr: Insufficient flood risk assessments. There is an existing flow path of flood water that CALA have built homes next to, without evidence of assessing the ground conditions or flood risk sufficiently. Multiple properties impacted, no resolution, very disappointing after care and communication.
