GoogleWe decided to use Castles to sell our property after having valuations from 3 estate agents. The first of the 3 agents, who we had a brief experience with before, did not seem that efficient. It is possible that there were genuine reasons, but with Castles we never had any such problems. They were efficient, helpful and friendly right from the start. There was no "hard sell", and no salesman monologue - you could have a genuine two way conversation with them. The last of the 3 agents were also very good, so we were torn between the two. In the end we chose Castles because we felt they had a slight edge in being slightly more upbeat and positive which we felt would set a good tone for prospective buyers.
The valuation given was higher than expected, and higher than the other two agents. It may very well have been achievable but as we were looking to sell relatively quickly we decided to market at a lower price. We had three offers, and one of them was actually as high as Castle's own valuation but the buyer's position was not as good as one of the lower offers. We did need to sell fast so accepted the slightly lower offer.
Throughout the sale process Castles were always keeping us updated while we also chased things up ourselves. They would always respond quickly to any questions, and assist in any way they could. Some estate agents seem to lose interest once a sale is agreed, or sometimes even as soon as they have got you on their books, and allow things to happen at their own pace. Whereas Castles remained proactive throughout. All of our dealings were with Daniel and Tom, and I could not find anything to criticise at all.

GoogleAs an ex sales and lettings negotiator and qualified MNAEA (Member of National Association of Estate Agents) I found the team from Castles Waltham Abbey to be far from what an agent should be. Throughout the transaction I was given inaccurate and dishonest information. When I challenged the agent to act in my best interest as they should, their response was rude, arrogant and as a result we ended up receiving late and reactive updates only on once a week basis to the point that I was forced to manage the entire transaction myself. Following an unsuccessful open day, the viewings were hosted by myself as the agent couldnt be bothered to attend. The final offer was also secured by myself. Unprofessional and only interested in commission; it has been over three weeks since we have completed and I have yet to receive any kind of thanks for the business or for doing their work for them. I'm sorry you felt us to be dishonest and rude, maybe it was our actual honesty, resulted in you feeling this way. For instance, you not being happy that the buyers mortgage offer was not released within 10 days of getting the offer agreed and us explaining to you the real reasons behind this and that 10 days is nothing to alarmed about. As we know, the mortgage offer came through in a standard time. I'm sorry you felt that providing you with updates once a week was not sufficient enough for you. I welcome you to pop into the office so that we can show you our sales progression where we continually acted on behind the scenes and I would welcome your suggestion as to how many times a week we should have updated you. In regards to us thanking you for your custom, I must remind you that I did this personally to you on the day of instruction. As you did not notify us that you were not to drop the keys to us on completion, unlike we advised to you in writing, that this is the best way to perform the key release, we did not get the chance to communicate our congratulations and gratitude to you (along with complimentary vouchers!) . I'm sorry you felt you had to manage part of the transaction yourself, may I remind you that on numerous occasions we tried to facilitate you and your solicitors to pass over the draft paper work to the buyers solicitors so that they could commence work, this taking one month for it to happen from your side from getting the offer agreed.
