GoogleThey were nothing short of amazing. We were having a hard time finding a house as we are three sharers but they sorted it out for us quickly and efficiently. We were shown the house by Levi who was very professional and helpful. He showed us all the corners of the house and explained why it would fit us perfectly. He definitely wasn't wrong! Our case then passed onto Alistair and he was also amazing. Professional, efficient and quick. With the help of the Romans team we got the house and sorted within a really small time frame. Couldn't recommend it more! If you're having a hard time finding a house, these guys will definitely see to it that you get one that fits all your wants and needs!

GoogleWas overall a very easy and simple process. Levi did especially well to work hard and be very patient with us. My only criticism would be the £500 resivation fee which I found to be quite costly. I haven't heard of other estate agents charging that high of a fee any fees.
I felt that, as much as everything was very simple and easy...... there wasn't anything that stood out for me that made me think "Romans really went out of their way for me".
When it came to the passports, I had to travail all the way there (20 minuets to their office from my home) just so they could photo copy my passport even though I had already sent a scan of the passports via email. It was only a 3 minuet visit for a total of 40 minutes of driving (there and back - 20 mins each way).
the office staff were very friendly but 1 thing I think would have been better was for them to acknowledge that we are really busy working and can't always answer calls and we don't always have the time to do things so..... (sorry I know this is long) but they could have arranged for us to meet on Saturday (when they know is the one day we are free and they are also open) to do everything there and then all at once, rather than asking us to send and sign things during the week on different days. (hope that makes sence). We are now moving in to our new property slowly but surly and look forward to calling it our new home.

We’re saddened to read that you feel our fees for tenants were quite costly, we do try to be competitive with these. We are members of the National Federation of Property Professionals Client Money Protection Scheme through our membership of ARLA Propertymark as well as The Property Ombudsman and are a clear and transparent agent that advertise our fees to disclose all charges and do not add fees later on down the line of any tenancy. Our fees as a whole cover work that will vary according to the circumstances of the tenancy but cover immigration and visa confirmation, financial credit checks, obtaining references from current or previous employers, previous or existing landlords, a contribution towards the setting up of the tenancy, compilation and exchanging of the tenancy agreement; all of these services would have been undertaken prior to the tenancy commencing and the £500 you pay as a holding deposit would be deducted from your overall fee’s paid. We understand that the moving process can be a difficult and stressful time for those involved and we always want to offer as much assistance and support to try and help make this process as straightforward as possible. During the application process we check passports as part of our Right to Rent Checks, Right to Rent documentation is something we must check legally to abide with government legislation and to verify that you are able to rent a property within the UK. Due to the strict guidelines around this it does mean that documentation such as passports need to be scanned in the branch ensure that the copies we have are a true copy of the original document and that any photographs within these are a likeness of yourself. We understand that applicants are often busy working as the majority of tenancies we set up are for working professionals so we appreciate that inconvenience can be caused by having to visit the branch for fairly short appointments as well as mid-week phone calls, while these may not be entirely convenient they are needed to allow us to obtain information to enable to the tenancy to progress and we can only offer our apologies that we couldn’t accommodate an appointment to go through all the aspects of your application at a more suitable time for yourselves. We recognise how important our customers comments are about their experience with us as ultimately it is feedback such as this which allow us the opportunity to evaluate our service and see how we can improve moving forward. GoogleWorked with Romans Tilehurst branch recently (Specifically Lyndon and Charlotte) to find a new property for Rental, they took a friend and I through the whole process, we gave them a budget and area for search, they came back with a fair few properties that fitted our needs, helping us with local area knowledge and finding us a phenomenal property finally to take on.
Lyndon and Charlotte have been back and forth with ourselves and our Landlady to make sure the property was ready for us to move into (being a new build, there were a few touches to be made) and have answered every question that we have asked, as soon as we have asked.
100%, top notch service and worth every penny of their fees. Happily will use them for my next move without hesitation.

GoogleStay clear, don't believe they can get you more money than another agent! My elderly mother recently used Romans to try sell her property, Romans valued the property £25,000 higher than three other agents. When my elderly mother asked if it was realistic to get the higher price Josh (manager) said he could guarantee he would get the price he quoted. Their fees were DOUBLE the other three agents because "they know they'll get a better price". Within 10 days they were telling my 78 year old mother who is unwell to drop the price!!!! So they signed her into a 20 week contract which she could not get out of. She is incredibly stressed from the situation and has withdrawn her house from the market but can not sell until the 20 weeks pass -

GoogleI was Romans’ tenant for a year and for six months of that time my room was without heating (winter months). I kept contacting Romans weekly but they did not take the issue seriously. Finally I decided to withheld rent until the issue was fixed but then I was told that if I do not pay the rent I will get a bad reference when I move out because it was against the tenancy agreement. I pointed out that they are in breach of the contract as well since the heating had been broken for several months and it was their responsibility to fix it but apparently they do not have to follow the agreement. I did get a bad reference and the heating was never fixed.

GoogleMy partner and I have rented a property via Romans for the past year. After our previous tenancy which was with a private landlord we were concerned we may not have much of a personal experience having a property fully managed by an estate agent.
As the year went on we had a few minor issues at the property (boiler not working etc.) but these were resolved very quickly and it was easy to raise an issue via the online portal.
Romans have been very prompt to respond to any of these issues.
The main reason for my 5 star review is directed towards Levi Matthews (lettings advisor) who works in the Tilehurst branch, he has made our experience with Romans much more personal and he is a very professional individual.

GoogleI've used a number of agents over a number of years and I believe Romans to be the best agent in the area by far. I would not use anyone else. They really do understand what it takes to get your deal done, and pull out all the stops to keep it on track. It might be tempting to do it all on line these days in the hope of saving a bit on the fee, but I believe that would be a huge mistake. The skills of the staff in the Tilehurst office really are worth their weight in gold. The personnel in the office there are just what is needed to get your sale through at the right price in the current market. Thanks to all the hard work of Andy and Paula at the Tilehurst office, my sale despite some challenges, was a success. I wish you good luck with yours.

Always there to answer any questions and advise through the process, Alex and Jacob have been particularly helpful in answering our neverending questions and even working on a Sunday to keep things moving.
Phil from Romans Mortgage Services also deserves 5 stars for coming up with a mortgage solution that no-one else had for our unusal circumstances.
Romans' fees are one of the highest in the area and this would be the only thing they could improve on in order to make them the best agency in Tilehurst.
