Trustpilotpoor lettings service
I approached McFarlane and put in an application for several properties to rent - I was desperately looking for a place to rent in Swindon as I was starting a job and was living in a hotel in another city having just relocated back to the UK from overseas. I sent them all income documentation, job offer letter, references, etc. In short, I gave them everything to reassure them that I was a serious applicant). I applied for as many properties as I could to secure one, but they never updated me on my applications, despite chasing them repeatedly. I asked to apply for more properties but they never followed up. After a while, it became clear that they never really took my application seriously. Needless to say I ended up renting from somewhere else. I wrote to their Director and complained about their poor lettings service and told him that I hoped their selling team were much better as I would be looking to purchase very soon as a first time buyer. The Director never responded to my email, so for me it was clear that they were never interested in my business. I am looking to purchase my first property and needless to say, I will avoid any properties advertised by McFarlane as it is clear they never took me seriously and it is a hard experience to forget. The other estate agents I have approached have been very quick to respond, and have even referred me to one of their brokers (whom I am using) and solicitors. This is lost business for McFarlane, but if that is how they operate, I am glad to steer clear of them.

GoogleI recently purchased a property through McFarlane, as a first time buyer i relied heavily on the advice and help on others, the team here really made the process easier for me, Jo was amazing throughout the purchase, helping me where others were unresponsive or overall unhelpful, i never had to wait long for a response and Jo made sure to keep ontop of every aspect of my purchase, from chasing my solicitors to keeping me informed on the progress of the sellers solicitors!
I cannot praise the team at McFarlabe North Swindon enough and will always recommend their services if ever asked!

GoogleFrom start to finish - a professional service. Their dedicated sales progressor , Jo, kept us informed throughout the process and was also in contact with the solicitors dealing with the conveyancing. This took away any stress and worry about chasing up events as we were fully informed throughout. The sales team were also professional with photos and advertising in the first instance and also giving us sound advice . A very quick and successful outcome. Highly satisfactory.

The service has been fantastic and Jo was always on hand to guide me through the daunting prospect of buying a house and to make the experience very smooth and efficient! I have not had experience of buying a home before so am unable to offer a comparison, however Jo has been fantastic and supportive at every step of the way!PositiveQuality

GoogleI’ve received great service from Jo at McFarlane throughout the process of buying my first property. She constantly kept me informed and up to date without me having to chase. It wasn’t the smoothest process overall due to some issues on the lettings side and other factors out of Jo’s control, but she was able to restore my confidence and make sure things were resolved. Really appreciate her help.

GoogleAs all of the other reviews say, Jo has has been a brilliant help. She was always on top of everything and when I chased her up she'd always chase for a response.
We had a hard time due to the buyers solicitors but luckily Jo was on top of everything and kept everyone informed along the way while keeping the sale flowing as best she could.

Hannah,
Thank you for taking the time to write a review although I am surprised by the content.
We do take feedback very seriously and use this to improve our services to all of our clients. However, I do think that the points you have raised do require further examination and comment.
You mention that when you applied for the property the referencing process was an absolute nightmare. The referencing is undertaken by a third party independent referencing company, not McFarlane. The vast majority of tenants do not have any issues with the process, however, if you cannot supply all of the requested documentation or there is a negative issue with one or more of your references this can delay the process.
You were asked to sign as having received the inventory prior to moving in to the property. You were also advised that you had 7 days to make any observations in relation to the property and annotate these on the inventory. After 7 days the inventory is closed and locked. You did not make any amendments to the inventory at all.
You did email us almost a week after moving in to the property to advise of some issues you had with the property and requested that we investigate and resolve these. To give this some context, you contacted us at 1.29pm, we then spoke with the landlord and instructed the contractor at 1.50pm, you were then emailed at 2.24pm with an update on which contractors would be attending.
When the engineer came out to look at the issue with the shower, despite you previously agreeing that they could use the management set of keys for access, they could not get in to the property as you had dropped the latch on the inner door, so this appointment had to be re-booked.
You mention in your review that when you moved out of the property the issues you had raised on move in had not been recorded and a substantial sum had been taken from your deposit. As stated previously, although you were given 7 days to update your inventory on move in you did not make one amendment. There were several issue raised on your move out report, but the landlord agreed to undertake these works at his own expense and not charge you. The only deduction made against your deposit was for the property to be cleaned. As the property was professionally cleaned prior to you moving in, this is not an unreasonable request. You also mention that you had no choice but to pay for our errors. As stated, all that we have made a claim for is the cleaning of the property. You were advised that you could appeal this with the Tenancy Deposit Scheme and submit supporting evidence, but you chose not to do this.
You did receive a rent increase of 8.3% after living in the property for 15 months, considering that over this period rents have increased between 10-15% and landlords mortgages have increased in excess of 50% again I do not think this unreasonable.
Notwithstanding the above I do wish you the very best in your new home.

TrustpilotBetter of to damage the property, since will not get deposit back
Starting off they need need as much information as the bank need for a mortgage. then they have quarterly property inspections. after that when you move out it is mandatory to have the property professionally cleaned. getting your full deposit back is impossible. at the end got robbed £250.
