Intercounty in Bishop’s Stortford

Intercounty in Bishop’s Stortford were very informative and professional in dealing with both the sale of our property and purchase of the new one. Doug Whybrow kept us well informed throughout the conveyancing process with regular phone calls to both ourselves and our solicitor. James Nunn and Olivia Vanlint continuously supplies us with information on new properties and viewings during the house hunting process, keeping us in the loop with everything going on. Would highly recommend this branch.

Very impressed

The team in Braintree exceeded our expectations ; polite, informative and efficient. In particular the assistance, guidance and support from Nic was beyond any expectation. The age and nature of our property presented some challenges and over some time other agents had tried and failed. Intercounty managed to do what others did not and the change in the quality of viewer, once we switched to Intercounty was quickly apparent, we soon moved to a sale. Proceeding to completion on a listed building however of this age was never going to be an easy process and this turned out to be the case. This is where Intercounty really excelled. Mediating between us and our buyer, providing solutions to awkward problems; providing tradesmen where we could not and through this saving us saving. This is the reason why I would not hesitate to recommend Nic and the Braintree team to anyone.

We had already decided that when we came to sell our house we would use Intercounty as they were the best agent by far when we were looking for a property back in 2007.Upon calling Intercounty for a valuation in July this year, Jenny Mallorie was on our doorstep within half an hour! The property particulars were prepared speedily and the viewings began.In a short while the offers started to come in and in the end we achieved over our asking price.All the staff that we have dealt with - namely, Jenny, Andrew, Lisa & Liz have been absolutely brilliant and we would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking to buy or sell a property!

Great company to deal with

I have been dealing with Intercounty for many years , both for sales and rental .I have found them to be very professional and extremely helpful with all aspects of sales and letting .In particular Doug Whybrow on sales has been amazing , he kept me updated on the progress of the sale constantly ( it was a slow one ) but he did all the necessary chasing all the time . Very friendly guy to deal with also , so full marks to him . Julia Samson in rentals has also been very good at her job , I found her to be very professional in all my dealings with her . So I would thoroughly recommend Intercounty for any sale or let .

Purchased despite Intercounty, not because of them

We have had a mixed experience that got progressively worse as exchange in contracts approached. We twice arrived at the point where my wife and I agreed to pull out of the purchase due to questionable levels of service, rescued at the last minute by progress. Despite the purchase being agreed, there was an overly aggressive air in the way some communications were handled, as if to try and close a deal that was already closing. This was probably not helped by the Vendor, but your job as agents is to broker between two parties, a job I feel was not handled very well at all. Indeed your involvement at times only served to confuse and delay. There was also a poor attempt at creating urgency in responses when responses were actually owed by yourselves. You were called on this and back-tracked over a period of 24 hours. I would be happy to discuss further either face to face or on the phone, but don't do not have the time to write in the required depth.

We used Intercounty recently to sell our property and had previously been on the market with another agent for 5 weeks and only had 2 viewings during that period. We changed to Intercounty and the viewings increased significantly and the potential buyers were all qualified beforehand and in a good position to proceed. Within 2 weeks we had an offer which we accepted and subsequently completed.I was very happy with Intercounty and Andrew Kershaw and his team kept us regularly updated throughout the process and so I would certainly recommend their service.

After finding a buyer for our house in a couple of weeks, it came to light that the solicitor we had when we bought it had not registered it correctly on the Land Registry. A simple sale turned into months of sleepless nights, tantrums and tears whilst the recommended solicitor corrected this major mistake. Along the way a new buyer was found and the sale went through after 8 months. Nick, Dominic and James were there for every phone call, visit, grumble, moan and laugh. Having had a positive experience when my husband and I bought our flat through this branch in April 2015, we decided to market our flat with the same team this year. The two staff members in charge of our move were Liz Sessions and Jenny Mallorie. Both were absolutely fantastic during the process of our sale, right through from the first viewing to the time of completion.From the moment we agreed to allow viewings of the flat, Liz and Jenny always gave us plenty of lead-time for all viewings, and always gave us feedback when we asked for it. They handled the relationship between us and our buyer with great sensitivity, and put us at ease throughout the sale process. They handled our negotiations wonderfully and always kept us fully informed.After we accepted the formal offer from our buyer, Liz and Jenny helped us to navigate the sale and the rest of the property chain without any hesitation. They always kept their word, if they said that they would follow up with a solicitor or other members of the chain, they never failed to do so, and always replied to us very swiftly. Of all of the estate agents, solicitors and conveyancers involved in our sale/purchase chain, they were by far the best individuals to pose enquiries to on all occasions. We cannot thank them enough! In summary, Liz and Jenny always answered our questions with honesty and authenticity, and led us through the whole sale process with ease and reassurance. If we ever move back into the Dunmow area, we will certainly speak to Liz and Jenny to help us find the ideal property. We cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone wishing to sell their property in the Dunmow area.

Intercounty What a fabulous team! ✌ Thank you, Peter Telford, Tom Ruszkowski….and particularly Carol Philpott. Together they made the whole sales process easy in a tough market, particularly for leasehold properties which can have cladding and ground rent issues often needing insurance cover and deeds of variation. With all their help the leasehold sale took only 13 weeks from offer to completion…just shows what can be achieved with a professional estate agency team. They were all very helpful arranging viewings to suit everyone and one of the team always accompanied potential buyers which made everyone feel comfortable. At every stage of the sale they kept us well informed of progress, potential delays and what actions they were taking to maintain open communication and progress with all parties. When the buyer agreed to purchase, Carol managed progress in the ‘chain’ including ensuring that the legal firms were continually moving ‘matters’ forward and assisting our buyer (who was unfamiliar with the complex paperwork) with many aspects of the sale which could have hindered progression. Carol, Peter, James, Lisa and Doug (from the Stortford branch) were all amazing at keeping us up to date and trying to help us get everything over the line. Solicitors on one side of the transaction were difficult to pin down and Peter/Carol had to listen to me be stressed many a time for fear of losing our buyer and also losing our then mortgage offer, which would have seriously impacted our financials given the interest uncertainty. Selected the Bishop’s Stortford office to sell our house and what a great job they did. Valuation a little higher than another agency but they marketed and sold at that value (thanks Will Jobber). I have just bought my first house with intercounty, and have mainly been dealing with Carol Philpott, Doug Whybrow and Heidi Hutchings, from Stansted branch, who have been amazing and helpful, checking in with me every week making sure that everything was going smoothly and to schedule. Carol has been there with step by step advice as I am a first time buyer, calling me and emailing me. Doug has also kept me updated calling me when needed. Heidi has met us to show us the house whenever needed and nothing seemed too much trouble for anybody. I'm so sorry it's taken us so long to write this review! Moving with a toddler is not for the faint hearted haha! But now that we've some what settled - I could not fault intercounty Stansted! From the very first evaluation with Peter to competition with Tom we had so much guidance and support. They were excellent especially with dealing with our buyers solicitors who were awful and extremely rude to both them and our solicitors (they were also Stansted based for anyone looking at solicitors avoid). Incredibly friendly and not at all pushy or your "typical" estate agents. They respect you and your home and guide you rather than tell you what to do. If we ever want to move back to the area in the future they will be our first port of call for sure! We have recommended them so many times already! Thank you so much guys!
