Requiring a survey on a substantial property, we were fortunate enough to work with Rob Jones, one of the firm's partners. It was an all-round top drawer experience. Communicative, consistently professional, reliable and helpful are adjectives which all leap to mind. Where anything was unclear, Rob kindly took the time to explain any technical detail in a way in which we could understand, allowing us to make a life-changing informed decision. It was a breath of fresh air to feel like we were not being rushed and a genuine care to help us. It was a pleasure to work with somebody where there is clearly pride and pedigree in their profession, and based on this experience we would not hesitate to recommend.

Not a great experience from the start. I have enquired for a beautiful property to let, BB&J had on the market which was 1 bed flat in York Street, Derby. I have been told that the current tenants are doing the viewings so I will have to wait for the agency to get back to me with availability. Finally after more than a week they have booked a viewing with me. On the day of the viewing I had a call form then saying that they have had a 'problem with the system' and instead of original £475 rent amount, now it's £500 pcm. Which is unacceptable to change the price especially to a bigger one after viewings were already booked. The agency should have taken the responsibility for this mistake and cover the costs not ask people if 'they're still happy to view'. Although I have accepted as I was extremely interested in taking the property as soon as it's available. Even though the experience with the agency has deteriorated my interest and excitement about the property. When I arrived at my viewing it turned out one of the agent is conducting it, since I waited for the tenant's availability to conduct the viewing, it was strange how an agent ended up doing it anyway. The gentleman's name was Steve Gilligan. He let me in, I had a look around and asked few questions. I asked about what happened with the price since it has gone up, he said he is not aware and that I should speak to the lettings team on the phone as he is just helping them out on this day which is quite strange since on their website it does say he is the accompanied viewer which deducts that he would be more informed than this. When mention that in fact it is quite strange to change the price he just said that the prices only go up, they never go down, which is very incorrect and it's not how letting a house works at all. I am a letting agent myself and know that this is quite unacceptable attitude to have. The gentleman made me feel like he wants me to leave as soon as possible. I was not able to apply for the property at the viewing and to be honest I did not wanted to after all of this, which was a pitty as I did like the property itself and the location. I feel like this experience was quite dishonest and attitude like this gives letting agents a bad name.

Tried to arrange a booking for a viewing, woman was very nice over the phone hence the 2 stars, she says we will be put on the top of the list as the tenants hadn't yet moved or a reason for viewings to not yet be available, I got no phone or email back and then I go to book a viewing a week later after having received nothing and it's fully booked for viewings.

I've just recently let a property with Boxall Brown & Jones. I can honestly say, all the ladies I've been in contact with, whether it be on the phone, at the viewings or when I went to go and pick up my keys, have been absolutely lovely and amazing. They've always been there to answer any questions I have, they've got back to me when they said they would, they've kept me in the loop with everything. Very poor. My partner and I arrived early to view a property on Sunday only to be let down by nobody being there. I knocked on the front door, looked through the windows and waited for 40 minutes. After around 20 minutes I tried to contact the agent by telephone and couldn't get through. I then sent an email whilst standing at the front door. I received no reply to my email on Monday so sent another in the evening stating my displeasure with the service. I received a call from a lady called Kerry today who was apologetic albeit insincerely. At first, she questioned whether I was at the correct property I confirmed that I was. By the end of the conversation, I was essentially made out to be a liar. John was "At the property until 16:30 as they always wait 15 minutes for a viewing". I sent my email whilst standing at the front door at exactly the time that John left. When I tried to explain this to Kerry it fell on deaf ears, I was given poor excuses and spoken over. "John is an elderly gentleman and wouldn't have been able to leave that quickly." "We always wait for 15 minutes after the appointment" "The estate is a rabbit warren are you sure you were at the right property" "I had viewings before you and they have provided feedback" None of the above confirm why I was left outside waiting. I am extremely disappointed that the words that I said were not taken on board at all by Kerry. I have stated that I do not wish the view the property now anyway. The pictures featured on their website and Rightmove are very misleading. The rooms are much smaller than they appear and the back garden is akin to a postage stamp. I am glad that I took the opportunity to view the property from the outside as it has ensured that I do not waste any more of my time with Boxall, Brown, and Jones. In short a poor service, misleading photographs, rude and frankly incompetent.

They assured us that we would be the first to be notified. And today they were told after we called them again that the property was rented out.
