They encourage gazumping

I offered full asking price on a flat in Morecambe. My offer was accepted. But then I got a phone call to say that someone had offered more money. It wasn't advertised as offers over a certain amount until they decided to gazump me they then changed the wording on the listing. I had tried to get in touch with them and was being fobbed off by an arrogant male employee. It was then they decided to ring me and told me I had been gazumped and was I willing to pay more. I would advice people to avoid them!

Avoid at all costs!

I am compelled to share my experience with Farrell Heyworth to shed light on the unethical practices and ongoing deposit issues I encountered. It is disheartening to see an agency that falls short of their responsibilities and lacks accountability for their actions. One of the most distressing aspects of my experience was the unauthorized sharing of my personal information and the shady and dodgy third parties that Farrell Heyworth deal with. This breach of trust raises serious concerns about their commitment to safeguarding customer data and respecting privacy rights. They will come back to you with small prints to justify their shady actions. My complaint to ICO resulted in them being told to make it more obvious so they stop scamming their customers. Additionally, despite multiple attempts to resolve the matter, my deposit has yet to be returned and I'm sure many other deposits from innocent customers have been withheld as well. The prolonged delay and lack of response from Farrell Heyworth and the continuous blaming of the matter on their 'Third Party' partners is nothing but laughable, we are talking about a financial misconduct here. Their failure to fulfill their obligation to return the deposit is both disconcerting and disappointing.Do not trust any of their third parties whether they are solicitors, surveyors or conveyancers, they are all failing companies that will do nothing by waste your time and money, read online about the many cases of people becoming homeless and chains breaking up due to lack of commitment from Farrell Heyworth and the partners they recommended. It is crucial for them to reevaluate their internal processes, replace their Sales Director and enhance their commitment to customer satisfaction and ethical conduct. I mean the reviews speak for themselves. So far all I can see is a failing company that is using any trick in its pocket to make as much money as they can before going bankrupt. I would definitely not trust my properties with this estate agent.Potential clients and tenants should exercise caution when considering Farrell Heyworth as their service provider. My experience highlights their lack of professionalism and disregard for their customers' rights. They will ignore vital emails and blame it on their 'junk mail'. They were told off by the ICO who forced them to respond to my enquiries, and unfortunately that is your only way to deal with such a failing firm. It is essential to thoroughly research and consider alternatives before engaging in any agreements or transactions with this agency. In conclusion, I hope that sharing my experience will encourage Farrell Heyworth to rectify these issues and improve their practices. It is my sincere hope that future customers will be spared from the disappointment and frustration I have faced.

DO NOT RENT OFF THIS COMPANY

I will never be renting a property off Farrell Heyworth again!!! We rented a top floor flat for 6 months. In that 6 months we were without hot water for 6 weeks. We had to endure damp, poorly sealed windows, and below 10 degrees temperatures in the winter. The communication was SO poor. I reported the damp within a week of moving in (over the summer). We had countless people come out to inspect the loft and the damp but nothing was ever actioned or communicated to us. One guy told us there was a hole in the roof so it was just dripping straight in. One said the gutters were overflowing into the property and we were getting the majority of the excess water!!! In the loft, there was no insulation, so all the heat was getting lost. We tried to open the windows the air the property out but most days we were able to see our breath and have to sit in the flat in our coats. The damp got worse, the mould grew, and our health declined.I even got to the point of reporting it to the local council who came over to do an inspection. They said they would fine the landlord, but once meeting her, I felt guilty so retracted… what a mistake that was!!!! After 6 months, we ended our tenancy. The reception we got when trying to get our deposit back has led me to angry tears. A representative in the Lancaster office may be one of the worst “professionals” I’ve had to deal with. We were basically told the damp was our fault because we didn’t adequately air out the property. Her response to my emails were all rude and unprofessional. We got deducted £200 from our deposit for minor things, when a previous tenant got deducted only £50 from her deposit but she had left her flat not in the “perfect” state either and we were told “the landlord realised she should’ve deducted more from them” which made us feel like they were now taking it out on us. In the end, I just backed down because I wanted my money back so I didn’t have to deal with these people anymore.Since leaving the property, we have noticed they have now finally put scaffolding up to rectify the work on the roof and gutters which seems oh so convenient now we have left. Farrell Heyworth clearly have too many properties on board to care about the tenants they’re housing.AVOID AVOID AVOID !!!!!

Can I give 0 Stars?

Can I give 0 Stars? Our property went on the market almost 15 weeks ago, and in all that time we've had 2 viewings. Even in the slowest market this seems unreasonable. The communication from the office has been very poor, we received a viewing from somone I do not believe was proceedable at the time. I believe this as I was told by 2 members of staff in the office, but the manager disagrees. We haven't been told what is being done to sell our house, we were told at the original valuation appointment that they hoped it would be sold in 4-6 weeks and we are significantly further down the line with no update of what is happening. The only advice we've had in that time is to reduce the price, even though we originally listed at the recommended price. We are very unhappy with the service and would not recommend to anyone.

I am a first time buyer who viewed a number of properties listed with Farrell Heyworth Morecambe and Lancaster. I must say, out of all the estate agents I dealt with they have been the most proactive and responsive. They went out of their way to find me suitable properties and were very accommodating and helpful every step of the way, even printing out full colour brochures for us to take away. Kim from the Morecambe office particularly stood out and is a real asset to the brand.

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid!!!

I absolutely would not recommend Farrell Heyworth. I really wish I read these reviews before we used them because then we wouldn't have bothered. They were nice enough when they valued our house and the agent who valued it repeatedly assured us that we would have no problem finding a house within our budget... This was a lie. They promised they would let us know houses before they went live... This was a lie, they only told us about two houses in the whole 9 months we wasted using their 'services' both of which did not remotely match our criteria. They did absolutely NOTHING to help us find a house. They only contacted us twice about unsuitable houses and a couple of times the 'sale progression team' phoned to see how we were doing. Due to the shocking customer service and the fact we were misled by them meaning we haven't found a house we have since withdrawn the house from the market. Definitely don't trust them and would never use them again or recommend them to anyone. I'm also aware that if I get a response to this reveiw it will just be a 'copy and paste' bog standard response that doesn't actually address anything.

Customer service is extremely important to us and any feedback we receive will help us to maintain our high standards of customer care.I’m sorry you felt disappointed by the guidance you were given in February that you would be likely to find a suitable home to buy. This guidance will have been given based on the property market and economy at the time which has seen some changes over the following months. We cannot ever guarantee that a customer selling their house with us will find a suitable property to buy, as this is entirely beyond our control. As selling agents we have a duty to help you to sell your property for the highest possible price and I’m pleased to hear my colleagues were able to achieve an offer you found acceptable in what can be a challenging market.Kind regards,Jeremy Collins, Director

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!

1 star is even being generous. I don’t even know where to begin with this estate agent! We had our offer accepted 9 months ago and between the vendor messing us about and the estate agents being incompetent, it has all fallen through! Gemma from the Morecambe branch who was dealing with our purchase, was rude and so unhelpful! Every-time we phoned for an update, she was never in the office; she never returned phonecalls and when we did finally get in touch she didn’t have a clue what was going on or where the sale was up too!John the manager also from the Morecambe branch, he too was most unhelpful and as a manager I would like to think he would have more of an understanding of what was going on. We done all the work for them to try and get somewhere with the sale ie:Chasing solicitors and chasing the estate agent of our vendor; who in the end communicated with us directly as opposed to Farrell and Heyworth, as they never provided us with accurate and up to date information on the sale. If you are from the Morecambe/Heysham area do not even waste your time with the property listed on Saxon heights, as it has been listed for sale several times and has never completed. The only estate agents that will list the property are these clowns! This is the house that has held us up and has all fallen through for the second time! And just to top this, they relisted the property back on the market without officially confirming the sale had collapsed!! 😡As a result, we have lost our buyers and both our mortgage offers have expired, as we are now 1 year down the line for it all to collapse.

Terrible customer service, poor communication!

Terrible customer service and poor communication. We wanted to buy a house for sale in Knott End. We'd gotten to the point of nearly exchanging contracts, when the seller pulled out asking for more money. We got back in touch with the estate agent and told them that we were unable to increase our offer, and to let the seller know why. We then got a text from the seller about how "since she'd had no contact, she'd assume we can't increase our offer". So, not only did FH not get back in touch with us, despite promising us a call, they also didn't even get in touch with the seller. It was only after our mortgage advisor rang multiple times, with the last time refusing to hang up unless he got an answer, that we finally got the answer that "they considered the sale not to be going forward". Which I could've told them. After all that, the house was then back on rightmove, for the exact same price it was originally, at the exact offer we gave. I would give 0 stars if I could. My advice, don't bother selling with FH, don't bother buying with FH. Absolutely terrible, and I will be avoiding buying any house that they are in charge of selling.

Took my money for no reason.

They certainly take no time taking your money and removing it from the market and then the house was back on the market again, quicker than I could blink. They coerced me into giving them £80 for anti money laundering checks, even though I was only viewing the house for someone else who was actually buying, otherwise I gad nothing to do with it. It didn't get as far as needing anti money laundering checks (the sellers fault not ours) so therefore I want my money back.

Recently

Recently, in the space of a week and a half, I was told by others in Lancaster of what amounted to complaints by six more people about Farrell Heyworth's poor service and unprofessional work. This entirely backs up my experiences with this company over a 7-year period when they were acting as my letting agent. I became so exasperated with FH that I dumped them eventually.Following my TrustPilot review after those experiences, I received a self-justifying response on this portal from a director, Jeremy Collins, who basically will not take responsibility or ownership for his company's poor performance. This company is putting profits and properties above people in it's order of priorities, forgetting that it is people that it is serving and who pay it's salaries. If FH continues to bury its head in the sand, one day it may find itself out of business, at least in Lancaster. Beware of this company potential buyers / sellers / landlords!

Useless company, completely inept.Enquired about a valuation was told would be done digitally and to complete info to do on line.Started doing this then 10 mins later get a text advising I had a telephone apt the next day to complete over phone.OK so i cancelled all work apts for the next day and booked time off work to accommodate, no one calls!I call and speak to the lancaster branch manager who was rude and basically stated I was confused and that it wasn't arranged as a call. I asked if this hadn't been arranged how I had texts from staff and asked how I would know staff's works mobile numbers if they hadn't texted. As an upshot of not listening to me, deflecting everything I said I advised I would not be using them. Why would I trust a company with something as important as selling a house when they can't even organise a simple call!I asked to be removed from all future communications. Since then I have been continually harassed by text and email. I have called approx 3 times to request, emailed to request, and even spoken to other branches who have advised that they won't contact.Since then I have had lots more emails and texts.I have called to complain and asked for complaints procedure which is to write to the branch manager i have an issue with!No thanks I will take up with ico as a breach. You won't get any business from me ever again.LAUGHABLE RESPONSE FROM YOU BELOW WHICH FURTHER REITERATES THAT YOU ARE CLEARLY USELESS AND COMPLETLY INEPT....REASON: I HAVE NEVER SOLD ANY PROPERTIES THROUGH YOU SO STUPID RESPONSE AND JUST FURTHER PROVES YOU ARE INCOMPETENT.AND THIS IS YOUR RESPONSE FROM A COMPANY DIRECTOR, IT DOESNT BODE WELL IF YOUR IN CHARGE AS CLEARLY YOU ARE COMPLETELY INEPT OR JUST LYING.
