I cannot thank Melissa from the Summertown branch enough! We had a tough year and a tough house sale which nearly lost us the home we wanted, but she kept everyone informed and invested in us! She was empathetic and supportive and her hard work paid off when we finally moved in to our beautiful new home! She went above and beyond and even popped in for a cuppa - I cannot praise her enough a truly lovely girl and a consummate professional who got the job done!

GoogleIf you are moving to, or have recently moved to Oxford, you will understand how daunting and exhaustive navigating the rental market can be. Trawling through countless listings, phone call after phone call, viewing after viewing, disappointment after disappointment. Rental prices are angst provokingly high and there is an inherent fear of not knowing what you are getting yourself into. Plus, you are probably also trying to settle into a new job or university, all while sleeping on someone’s couch, there is likely a lot going on for you at this rather stressful moment in your life, compounded further by trying to find somewhere to live. Having just moved to the UK myself, this was largely my experience too. What made it easier however, was working together with Breckon & Breckon. I am grateful for the efforts of Ashleigh Swales and the Breckon & Breckon team who were able to guide me through this transition, finding a home, working through the paperwork and contracts, answering questions and providing guidance in a manner that was kind and professional; sensitive to the needs of someone to whom the city and rental market are so foreign. Working closely with Ashleigh has helped to reduce the anxiety of moving, and her work has enabled me to refocus my energy on what is otherwise an exciting new adventure in my life. I look forward to a positive relationship with Ashleigh and the team throughout the duration of my tenancy and time in Oxford, and I can definitely recommend contacting her should you also find yourself in need of some friendly support during this new and exciting phase of your life.

GoogleWe have had a really bad experience when it came to ending our tenancy in respect of getting the deposit back. It seemed that some charges were fabricated and others were unfair. When challenged we got a reduction but only as either gestures of goodwill or being, 'let off'. I simply wanted an honest and open breakdown of costs with invoices which we never got.The staff were either rude, slippery or even intimidating. Avoid! In response to the agents comments. To be specific: Why was the flat filthy and with junk that previous tenants left behind? Why on departure were we initially charged for throwing away said junk? Why did they expect us to pay for a Professional Clean when we left it better than found? ( the clean went beyond what the exit check specified and let's be clear it was talking about polishing taps!) Why did Max say we had broken FIVE toilet seats? Why did Max get me to send in quotes for carpet cleaning? I ASKED FOR INVOICES detailing any repairs showing proportionality despite having asked - If the agent sent them to me I'd like them to provide proof. The reductions we got were either being 'let off' or as 'gestures of good will'. I settled with them because it wasn't a great amount of money and it wasn't worth the stress. I don't mind paying for things but I like to know what I'm paying for. Why should the landlady pay for the reductions they made.- was Breckon and Breckons bad management. My complaint was more about getting a transparent and honest breakdown of charges rather than gestures of good will or being let off. It's about fairness and integrity but I don't think Breckon and Breckon understood this. Non of the queries I mentioned above were addressed. One quote as an example of the rudeness I encountered was. ' look if I've told you once I've told you three times.' I think the problem is endemic.

GoogleThis is the worst letting agent I've ever encountered! They manipulate communication between the landlord and tenants, creating confusion. They intentionally lie to both parties, causing problems and deliberately harming the landlord's interests. They even allow tenants to prematurely terminate contracts without the landlord's consent. When we complained to their management team, it was utterly unhelpful. It appears that this behavior is part of Breckon & Breckon's company culture. We were left with no choice but to file a formal complaint with the property ombudsman, resulting in Breckon & Breckon being fined for their wrongdoing.
We are sorry to receive your review and although the issues you have noted are not correct, the matter has now been dealt with fairly by the Property Ombudsman.
