Booked a viewing a week ago came up from London finished work and came up for Zach not to show up. Called the office 10 minutes before the appt was told Zach was on his way. Called 10 minutes after the appt was greeted on the phone by a sarcastic unprofessional staff member called Myles. Did not apologise once claimed to have left me voicemail in the morning- no voicemail was left/no email was sent. He then continued with his sarcastic behaviour and decided to start arguing with me. I asked him why did the girl say Zach is on his way for Myles to reply ,” that was for another viewing.” So they cancelled my viewing for someone else. There are many estate agents in Norwich my advice would be to avoid Alexander & co and don’t get stuck in any contracts with an unprofessional company whom chase profits instead of customer satisfaction.

Once in the house the service has been excellent. This is the only reason I am giving one star. Thank you Myles - you have been great. However, the customer service throughout the application process was appalling and had we not already paid a non-refundable application fee we would have walked away for sure. We applied for the house almost 3 weeks before the desired moving date, and returned reference forms etc. within 2 hours of receipt. The desired moving date was verbally confirmed and included on all the forms. We were reassured we had plenty of time (nearly 3 weeks) so it wouldn't be a problem. As such we confirmed a completion date (for our house sale) and booked removals. A week after submitting the application we hadn't heard anything so e-mailed to check. We were abruptly told they would contact us when everything was sorted (applicants are actively discouraged from checking on the progress of the application, as noted on the paperwork). The start of moving week we still hadn't heard so phoned. We were told they had been meaning to contact us to tell us the moving date was delayed by 5 days, only because they couldn't get anyone to do the inventory until then. The house was empty and landlady had agreed the original date - the inventory was the only issue. Our references had been approved several days beforehand, and we pleaded with them to bring the inventory forward but they were too busy. We pointed out that they were effectively giving us 4 days notice to rearrange all of our moving plans and the completion date on our house (not to mention costs incurred) and that this simply wasn't reasonable. Indeed had we not phoned we probably wouldn't even have had 4 days notice! They firmly told us this was not their problem, that this is how Alexander & Co has been run for years and is a very successful business - absolutely no hint of an apology or even any empathy for the situation we were now in. I found it genuinely the most disrespectful customer service I have ever received. Then when we eventually got the keys the following week and arrived at the house we couldn't get in. They had given us the wrong keys. I would absolutely not recommend Alexander & Co as a result of this experience, particularly families with children. We subsequently found out that one of the reasons for the delays was the number of student lets they were dealing with - these were obviously prioritised over families.

We used Alexander & co to find our rental property. During the stress and ups and downs of a move where we had sold our house and had to move out ASAP Rob Mcdonald was always on hand to help us. He put up with our constant phone calls as we pushed to get the move done quickly and throughout was more than helpful. With his invaluable help we moved into our perfect property. I can’t thank and recommend both Rob and Alexander &co highly enough. Thanks and sorry for the delay in writing this well deserved review

We had been trying to find the right family home in Norwich to relocate to for a few months. We had found that most of the agents were either not interested or just damn right rude. It was as though we were an imposition to their busy day, not returning calls when promised or able to accommodate viewings when we needed them. We then by chance called Alexander & Co and spoke to a Wonderful young lady called Anna, we have nothing but praise for her, her friendly manner, professional approach was like a breath of fresh air. She kept us fully informed with every step of the way, and made numerous courtesy calls to make sure that we were happy with everything. From the very start of the process to the end she was always at hand with a smile and answer. We would not hesitate in recommending her and the company. ABYSMAL CUSTOMER SERVICE- To begin with it seemed that Alexander and company were going to be helpful and friendly in helping my partner and I begin renting. However, this was not the case. In looking around the property the member of staff knew nothing about either if the properties we looked at, could not answer any questions- although he was honest about this and very friendly. We still liked one of the houses and decided to move ahead anyway- from here onward we were messed around terribly. There was NO communication from their side, we would call several times before receiving any call back from Sam or the maintenance department. We were pretty miffed by the time we finally moved in to the property having been left waiting for weeks about an application that was meant to take 3-5 days, but then it got worse. We noticed some problems with roof tiles nearly falling off and electrical wires left exposed upstairs. Alexander and company would not do anything about this for nearly a month, despite us contacting them. I was told the problems with roof were not important, despite the member of staff having not seen the problem, it was not until i physically gave them a picture they agreed it needed to be done. The electrics upstairs have been sorted and I cannot fault the electrician they sent as he was thorough and even checked the other light fittings at my request, and found they too were unsafe. It has almost been two months since we moved into our house, and though I love the property, our roof is still unfixed and we have still not once had any correspondence from Alexander and company. The last two times I spoke to Sam he seemed to close our conversation asking if i would write a review. I have not felt listened to this entire process, I feel frustrated and disappointed in alexander and co, and they should vastly improve their customer service.

Fantastic service from the whole team, Amy who handled our tenancy application was especially helpful, very welcoming and professional. The task of finding a rental was initially quite daunting as we were living out of an AirBNB and needed to get fixed up quickly, on top of which the demand from other prospective tenants was exceptionally high, however Amy reassured us and helped us to get a wonderful house that really suited our requirements within one week.

Alexander & Co. managed student properties for me for 2 years and did a reasonable job with the tenants, but I decided they knew insufficient contract and tenancy law, and their bookkeeping was rather sloppy, so gave them notice I was terminating our contract. They took over £3,000 from my rents as a "termination charge". I took legal action and nine months later, the court ordered they repay it to me, plus interest and costs. READ THEIR CONTRACT TERMS CAREFULLY. It is set up such that having hired them you cannot fire them without almost an extra year's charges, unless you have terminated the tenancy, (Clause 20). My tenancy was terminated, but they took the charge anyway, (in violation of Clause 11), because some tenants, (who they described as "their tenants"), had signed to a new tenancy with me. No other agent has ever taken unauthorised money from my rents.
