Was keen to engage them to help to sell my property in SE London. They spent 15 minutes on the phone telling me how superior their service levels are, then failed to send me the one line email they'd promised to send immediately after the call. I waited a day or two, nothing ... sent them an email, ignored ... called and left messages ... nothing. Their customer service is in fact far inferior to the competition, not superior.

The landlord initially agreed to let us rent the property for £2,300/month, but at the last moment, after we had already prepared to sign, he refused to proceed unless we agreed to pay £2,500/month, leaving us no choice as we were students about to be without a home. We paid a £2,884 deposit to the agency and hired professional cleaners (£200) when moving out. The landlord then brought someone along and claimed it wasn’t clean enough, charging us another £160, even though the issues he pointed out had already existed when we moved in. He assured us at that time that no more deductions would be made and the deposit would be fully returned. Afterward, he blocked me and ignored all contact. Months later, when I pursued the matter legally, he suddenly claimed additional damages for a mirror that was already broken before we moved in, and the agency failed to provide proper check-in photos to protect us.

TrustpilotNegative experience with seller-oriented agency
We started the property viewing in SE24 with a very positive experience. Everyone we spoke with at Truepenny’s was a delight. Made an offer but was asked to go higher, which we did. Offer accepted, however, right before the completion weekend, we viewed again and it’s full of cracks throughout the flat - learnt the property is damaged, two walls are subsiding and two surveys suggested monitoring until 2024 as underpinning would be expected.Discussed with Truepenny’s and got advised that insurance will cover it without any evidence of this being presented. When researching house subsidence, it is advised that subsidence decreases the value of a property from between 20% to 25%. Proposed 20% off but got told all the seller would offer be £2k off (less than 1%) which was unbelievable. Tried to close the deal as we had come this far, going down from 20% off to 13%, but Truepenny advsies 1% off is the maximum or they will cover the cracks and put it back on the market. We were shocked to hear this as two surveys suggested to monitor until 2024 and not fill in the cracks but they wanted to hide the cracks so they can carry on selling.Management team did get in touch asking if there is room for negotiation but we told them the maximum we can go is 13% is the max we can do so as to try and meet the seller in the middle. Truepenny’s then stopped replying and ignored our emails. We think they’re very seller-oriented firm and now we wonder if when we first viewed the property it had already had the cracks covered over anyway. I would strongly advise anyone to do a homebuyer survey before purchasing in case something has been hidden on purpose . After wasting 5 months and nearly £4k this experience ends very badly. It was such a shame as we thought they were brilliant in the beginning but now we would definitely not recommend Truepenny’s.

GoogleJamie was superbly helpful, friendly and approachable, and really supported me through the process to secure a new flat to let. I could rely on him to keep me updated regularly, call me when he said he would, and he even let me know where things were up to if he didn't have solid news for me yet, helping me to manage my expectations. He provided a brilliant level of customer service that is simply rare to find! I'm sure his clear, transparent communication would be a very welcome help to everyone, as moving is always a stressful and complicated process. Personally, I'm neurodivergent and I massively rely on good clear information to navigate what's going on, so his personable approach helped me probably more than he realised! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because some communications with Truepenny's once things were out of Jamie's hands were harder to navigate. But all in all, everyone I spoke to was friendly, it all got sorted in time, and I'm now enjoying my lovely new home :)

GoogleVery refreshing experience. As an ex property manager and a tenant, renting for over 5 years in London and the UK, I've seen and heard of every horror imaginable in the letting industry. Truepennys has exceeded my expectations at each and every step of the tenancy. They not only accommodated every single request I had, but also tried to help us move out earlier. There were no shady attempts on our deposit at the checking out stage and it was refunded in full. Communication was fantastic at every stage. Sometimes not immediate, but it's a busy environment and being a property manager myself I clearly understand what causes the delays. If I have a need to rent again and Truepennys will be in the area, this will be my agent of choice. Their employee actions show that the management / directorship also have morals and the standards are set at a very high level. Even though we did not put an offer on the flat that he showed us, he drove us down to explore the East Dulwich neighborhood after the viewing on a hunch that we would like the area. We ended up falling in love with it! GoogleIt can sometimes feel as a tenant that you aren't given as much respect as Landlords or those buying/selling properties, and this can be challenging when you've looked after a property like it's your own. However, it really felt that Truepenny's did what they could to accommodate and respect us as tenants, especially following an end of tenancy contract/notice period dispute we had linking to an old estate agent that our tenancy had begun under. Special thanks to Sam and Connor who showed levels of empathy and compassion for our situation and for their work in helping to resolve it!

They showed us options which were relevant and in-budget, they never rushed us and gave us space to chat. They called us about the home we bought before it had even gone on rightmove. GoogleFrom the initial search for a location, and contract signing, to the departure at the end of contract, Truepenny's have been very professional, and trustworthy. They are quick to respond to any queries, and have always been able to advise on any questions throughout my experience with them. In particular the consultant Sam El Jani has been exceptional with her efforts over the past few months, helping me through a difficult situation. She went out of her way to help me out in dealing with the end of contract and with my search for a new property. If you're looking for reliability and confidence in an estate agents truepenny's are at the top of the tree.

GoogleTruepennys team at East Dulwich are just the best. They are all professional, trustworthy and friendly. I liaised mostly with Alex, Connor and Wallace and they all helped me in so many ways throughout the sale of my flat. Wallace was an amazing help as head of client liaison. He dealt with queries before they became problems. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The same can be said for Alex and Connor. They marketed my flat so well that I had an offer I accepted within a week! They also arranged for me to see properties I might want to purchase. GoogleI sold my flat during lockdown which lengthened the whole process. In addition I had 3 buyers pull out so the flat was re-marketed 3 times! I can honestly say that Connor Brewer was a rock throughout the whole process which lasted a year, enabling me to keep my sanity.
