GoogleWe had an absolutely TERRIBLE experience with Portico Islington. We turned up on time to our viewing and the lettings agent Angus claimed he'd been waiting outside for 10 minutes which was a lie as we were parked outside the property waiting because it was raining. He then called us 25 minutes after our viewing (only after we chased the agency twice) with absolutely no apology or solution, just claiming it was too late and he had moved on to another viewing so we'd need to reschedule for another day - despite us driving 1 hour to come and see this property. We even spoke with the branch manager Chris in the hope someone would be willing to take 5 minutes out of their day to show us the property but we were hit with a bunch of nonsense excuses. Overall extremely dissapointed with the service and would never use nor recommend Portico to anybody!NegativeResponsiveness, Quality, Professionalism, Value

GoogleWe just sold our house in Stoke Newington with Portico Islington. From the beginning the team (Megan, Meera, Oliver & Chris) were friendly and professional. They promptly booked in the valuation and once we instructed them, the photographer was assigned who did a brilliant job. They arranged loads of viewings and the momentum was kept up throughout the process. We would highly recommend Portico if deciding to sell your home. GoogleWouldn’t recommend, we viewed a flat and sent our offer to the letting agent. The letting agent never put this offer through to the landlord and stopped replying to my messages. I then saw the same flat listed under another estate agent, sent them my offer and it got accepted. I’ve now moved into that very flat. Portico had no interest in us and we’re nothing but rude and unhelpful. AVOID.

GoogleAppalling experience.
Portico ignored my calls and emails about major problems in the property for weeks. Eventually agreed with the landlord to terminate the contract early at her suggestion as the mould problem couldn't be fixed,, suddenly Portico responded and tried to charge me thousands in fees (against the landlord's wishes).
After moving out, it took months and lots of chasing to get my deposit back.
Very stressful experience, avoid at all costs.

To be honest, I booked many houses for viewing and went through many agencies. But Meera who works in Portico in Angel, was the only person who brought a document of whole detail of the house and listened to me carefully all the time.
After making a contract for the house, I found several issues in that house before moving in. Honestly, it was really stressful, and I also didn't have any idea and experience how I could deal with them properly.
So, I made a phone call to her and Portico office so many times. But they willingly gave me advice all the time.
She understands the difficulty of finding a house as a non-native speaker and helps me out sincerely.
I really appreciate for the endeavours of Meera and Portico.
If I have someone who is looking for a house, I definitely would like to reccomend Portico right away.

GoogleI used Portico for a short term let and the whole process from beginning to end was a nightmare. They are disorganised, inattentive, and the staff are incompetent. After going back and forth several times (and after signing more paperwork than I ever have before for a letting - short term or otherwise) I still had to go into the office and resign all the same paperwork as it hadn’t been filed correctly/passed on to the right person. When I finally moved into a property in Islington I was given no explanation of how anything in the property worked: no information on how to work the heating, where and if there was WiFi, rubbish collection, nothing. I was literally just handed a set of keys. When the lease was up, and after leaving the property I had to call and email about 6 different people to get a check out report (necessary to get the deposit back) and when I received it, it was for the wrong property. After several more calls, emails, messages (on my part, they never once returned a call) I finally got the correct check out report. Next, came trying to retrieve the security/incidentals deposit (which is 4x the monthly rent - higher than probably any other London letting agencies security deposit) which as it happens, I STILL have not received (almost a month after leaving said property) as they are yet to answer any calls and emails and dismissed me with an email stating that I needed to contact the owner (who I have never had any contact with) directly. I can honestly say I have never had a worse experience with a letting company.

Googlethis is by far one of the worst agencies I have ever rented a flat from. overpriced, they didnt give me information on things about the flat, which cost me more money, they didnt tend to my maintenance issues and respond to me for about a month. I had toilet water all over my floor and they didnt even bother themselves to abide by the terms of the contract to fix this issue. I ended up paying for it and they still have not reimbursed me. they are so rude and accusatory... I've never in my life come across such a terrible agency... please do not rent from them, trust me - if i could give them negative 5000 stars i would, not even exaggerating. these people wasted my time and money - its been 1 month and they still havnt given my deposit - the charged me 2 and a half months of rent, and i found out this is illegal in london, they are allowed to charge 1 month or so. - not to mention, i had the apartment professionally cleaned and they just happened to "FEEL" like it wasnt clean enough and charged me another 150pounds for another cleaning - they are unprofessional theives. i'd rather be homeless than do any sort of business venture with these sick people again

Google2 months after we have moved in, the Portico Islington office has not been able to hand over a check-in inventory at all, reportedly because "there has been a problem in the system pulling it through". In addition to this fact showing a lack of organisation, they have utterly mishandled communications and we have had to repeatedly get back to them ourselves to know about the status of our inquiry. I can therefore safely state that the agency's claim of "listening to their customers" is erroneous. Think twice before choosing to work with them.
