GoogleOur offer for a rental didn't go through and the agent tried to keep my holding deposit, which is ILLEGAL! Beware if that happens to you! They cannot keep the deposit for a failed credit check, but only if you lied or failed a migration check. Once I threatened to report to trading standards they returned the deposit IN FULL! A bit of context: One of the two of us failed the credit check due to parking tickets. Offered guarantor and was willing to pay more money upfront but was turned down nonetheless. Bit disappointing in the current climate as my friend is a key worker for a big organisation, so it would have been nice to have taken into account the actual facts about who the person is, instead of a number. The usual soulless bureaucracy, unfortunately, but to try and make a profit out of us was the reason I'm writing this review. Know your rights.
