GoogleDo not rent with them if you can help it.
Incredibly unprofessional service. There were many appliances and fixtures in the flat that were broken when I moved in. I have been constantly emailing them trying to get them to fix things but almost nothing has been done. Both the agent in charge of managing the property and the manager have been appallingly incompetent. They do not reply to emails and described my requests to rectify broken fixtures as just "having high standards".

I am sorry you feel you have received an unprofessional service from us and that you feel things you have reported haven’t been fixed. It was myself and a colleague that personally visited your apartment when you first moved in to have a look and the items you had reported as this was a new property to us so I felt is best to visit myself and see the apartment with my own eyes. I found the apartment to be in generally really good order and we of course reported back to your landlord the issues you had reported and also what we found when we went to take a look ourselves. As a result of this and once we received permission from your landlord I can see quite a bit of maintenance has been undertaken and something unfortunately the landlord has not agreed to a few things on the basis. I don’t want to go into great detail on here but of course if you would like to discuss any of this with me further please do not hesitate to contact me. However you property manager is continuing to speak with you landlord to resolve things for you. Kindest Regards

GoogleWanted to deduct 450, they got 60
RESPONSE TO OWNER:
Extractor fan - If the fan was in working condition there would be no mould. You were told about this months before we moved out.
Cleaning - On YOUR inventory there are 4/5 things that were found to be slightly dirty. Why would it cost £130 to wipe dust off of a couple of radiators? We have over 40 images showing how clean the flat was. The invoice you got wasn't even itemised to show a break own of work that needed doing.
Plug - I could have replaced it yes, but I didn't. That doesn't mean you can charge over the odds to have it replaced. You know this. It was missing when I moved in but you haven't done an inventory for 2 years prior to that.
Bulbs- we told you we couldn't get into the fascias to replace them before we moved out. Also the drawers were freezing over because the door wasn't shutting properly. Maybe you aren't reading over things properly after all?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ORIGINAL REVIEW
This company is a disgrace. Their property manager Rebecca Crowther takes weeks to reply to emails and it took me months to be told that mould in my bathroom that kept making me cough was my problem. This was not the case as the en suite I had had no window and had an extractor fan that worked but was insufficient. On leaving the flat they are trying to charge me and my house mate £75 pounds for re grouting the tiles.
I asked for help with this in June! To be honest I could have left my bathroom door open and my window on the other side of my bedroom open AND left the blinds up. I'm sure the people over the road would loved to have seen me washing my junk every morning.
Next up, paid £80 for a deep clean. We have 50 pictures of the flat after the clean which was done to a reasonable standard however, there were a couple of radiators and a headboard that were missed and had dust on. Bridgfords are trying to charge us £130 for a deep clean for a few spots that need a wipe down.
They are also trying to charge us for removals as we left one item in the flat... an umbrella.
Then there are the charges for a missing plug that can be bought for at most £20 (I've checked online). They are trying to charge us £45
We emailed Bridgfords about some lights that we could not replace due to being under covers we couldn't remove without having to force our way into them. We bought the lights and told them that we'd left them in the flat for their contractors to fit. Fair enough? Nope, they are trying to charge us for that as well for a total of £30 for 5 lights.
The ever reasonable Bridgfords would also like us to pay £54 for some new freezer drawers as they were cracked when we left. Which could possibly be quite reasonable, if only this wasn't caused by the freezer being engulfed in ice and causing them to crack. An issue that was raised and not acted on by Bridgfords.
The oven was broken for weeks too but that was never fixed.
We are also being asked for £114 of outstanding rent. All of our rent has been paid so I can only assume they threw that one in for a laugh.
Here is the list of charges:
Out standing rent
114.75
Cleaning
130
Bathroom plug missing
45.00
Reseal and re grout en suite bathroom
75
Cracking to the freezer draws
54.00
Dilapidation fee
20.00
5 replacement bulbs
30.00
Getting a reference from my landlord was a nightmare too, I ended up having to ring Countrywide that, I think, owns Bridgfords to have this authorised despite me calling them 3 times.
Bridgfords essentially act as a blocker between you and your landlord and try to get you to pay for things the landlord doesn't want to. They don't communicate with each other and they sure as hell don't want to communicate with tenants. For the amount they charge they should provide an amazing service but you get fobbed off or ignored.
Hopefully for anyone reading this you will be smart enough to heed the reviews here and avoid this embarrassing excuse for an estate agent.

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry you feel you have been unfairly charged from your deposit. In the fist instance anything we put forward to you is always a proposed deduction based on the information from your original inventory and the check out report. Your deposit is protected with MyDeposits and while ever we would always aim to reach an agreement between a landlord and tenant this isn’t always possible but your landlord would not and could not deduct anything from your deposit without your full agreement. Firstly I can see no record of your reporting your extractor fans not working only an email fro you reporting your bathroom as getting dirty and when we conducted the check out the bathroom showed no signs of the extractor fans not working. This would result in mould on the walls and flaking paint, the mould was contained the shower unit and the grouting and seal and is a result of this not being maintained over a period of time and as result the shower unit needs to be re-grouted and re-sealed. Having looked at your check out report there were quite a few cleaning issues picked up, we instructed cleaners based on the report and the invoice has come in at £130.00, a copy of this has been sent to you and reflects the amount of time needed to bring the apartment up to level of professional cleanliness. We are not charging you for any removal of items, it was picked up on at the check out there was some small items left behind by yourself but we have not charged you to removed these. The plug is missing and therefore you have been charged accordingly, of course you could have replaced this yourself to avoid any charge. As with the bulbs, we have to send a contractor to replace any non working bulbs so not only is there the cost of the bulbs but the cost for the contractors time, again you could have replaced these bulbs yourself and avoided any further charge from your deposit. If you say the freezer drawers cracked as this is a result of the freezer becoming iced over, you would have simply needed to de-frost the freezer as part of your responsibility as tenant, it is not the responsibility of your agent or landlord to de-frost your freezer. With regards to the rent owed, there is a four day rent period charged up on the system as your notice has been processed as of the 23rd September however I have looked into this and I can confirm our system is incorrect and I have no amended the date and removed the rent showing as owed. I am sorry for the mix up but I can assure you this is a genuine error which is not resolved. I would of course be very happy to discuss any of the above with you and I would very much like to move forward and for us all to reach a happy agreement. but if you still feel the proposed deductions are unfair then my best advise would be to raise a dispute with MyDeposits who will use a totally independent adjudicator to look over everything and make a final decision of the proposed deductions based on the evidence provide by both parties. Kindest Regards

GoogleWhere do I begin…
The fees!
£300 EACH for admin fees, in total it cost around £2125 to move into a one bed with balcony.
Although Bridgfords had the most extortionate fees in our naivety in property searching we figured ‘you get what you pay for’. Blinded by fancy marketing and a decent sales pitch we went ahead.
The paperwork was quickly signed, we had a move in date and started to relax. Upon moving in the flat wasn’t up to a ‘professional cleaning’ standard.
This is when the problems began…
First the fan oven wasn’t covered and didn’t work but again I overlooked this. The microwave blew in the 1/2 month and despite sending several e-mails and contacting them this sat and gathered dust under the dining table for the ENTIRE tenancy. The fridge freezer then broke in the third month and after reporting took 6-8 weeks to replace, we had to spend £100 on a mini fridge. The lightbulbs could not be changed because the fixtures didn’t come away from the ceiling and despite requesting them to be changed towards the last few months of the tenancy this never happened and they lumped us with an overpriced charge for lightbulbs. After an inspection towards the end of the tenancy they stated how the carpet had never been replaced since the building opened! There was a mark in the bathroom sink which had been covered with white sealant throughout our tenancy. This began to rub off due to usage and the mark became visible, this was charged into our deposit. We left the flat spotless, I took pictures of every corner of the flat but were charged with a £50 ‘general clean’ fee which I doubt was used considering how clean it was when we moved in. During an August bank holiday weekend our rent hadn’t gone out on time and because of this they quickly rang us for the money so we direct debited them the amount thinking the standing order was playing up. The standing order then left the bank after the bank holiday weekend and this took several days on end to retrieve leaving us penniless.
(we did not fill in our inventory in time therefore I accepted the charges without an issue- a lesson learnt)
The Landlord has been an absolute nightmare throughout, alongside Bridgfords taking weeks to fix anything and e-mails were either replied to sparingly or not at all. Phone calls never returned even after being hurried off the phone with the promise of a ‘call back’ with an update. The managers are dreadful, no customer service skills, rude, impatient, and the rest of the staff look young and inexperienced.
This was overall an upsetting experience for first time renters and left us wondering how to leave Bridgfords far behind us. This unfortunately wasn’t the case.
After 10 days I contacted Bridgfords regarding the return of our deposit totalling nearly £800 with the reductions of £145 which we were appalled by but simply agreed in order to get our deposit back as quickly as possible. Particularly after spending a lot to move into a new property with a different letting agent called Morgan’s whom have been brilliant!
We received an email asking for our payment details to return the deposit which we provided. The deposit never arrived and after several calls/e-mails and even after visiting we were getting nowhere. We were told to hold off filing a dispute because the landlord had ‘verbally agreed to the deposit return’ but without written agreement nothing could move forward. So we filed a dispute with mydeposits whom hold the money.
We spent Christmas incredibly conservatively and after ringing over and over and getting nowhere with Bridgfords whom stated they were trying everything to get the landlord to sign our deposit returned... which I believed but the lack of communication left me in the dark without the money owed to me.
After filing with a third party adjudicator the landlord never responded… over 3 1/2 months we finally have our deposit back. I cannot tell you the stress we have faced throughout this ordeal and how drained we have felt the past few months.
I’m amazed at everything we’ve gone through,
never, ever again.

Good afternoon, I would firstly like to thank you for your feedback. I appreciate that these issues must have been very frustrating for you, especially considering you were renting a property for the first time. Although I appreciate that this will not change the poor experience you have endured, if you can provide me with the details of the property you previously rented through our branch via email at customercare@countrywide.co.uk, I can ensure that a Manager is in contact with you regarding your points above so that we can try to resolve the issues and allow you to continue with your new property happily. I again would like to sincerely apologise as this is not how we expect our staff members to conduct business and I will ensure that the relevant managers are made aware of your feedback to prevent such issues arising again. If you do wish to add anything further or expand on your issues, please do so by emailing to the same email address detailed above and we will ensure that these points are addressed. I really do hope that we can close this for you and better our services going forwards. Many Thanks.

GoogleI have been with Bridgfords for over four months now and have encountered numerous issues some of which have still not been resolved (which is why I am writing this review). On the day I moved in, I had to wait over 2 hours in the office just to collect the keys which set the tone for my whole experience. I found the flat not to be in an acceptable standard with food stuck to the walls. There were numerous issues with features of the flat (doors not functioning properly and part of the flushing mechanism not working in one bathroom), these issues have still not been fixed and I moved in at the start of August, just the four month wait then! I have contacted Bridfords via e-mail and actually went to the office and this is still not sorted. My advice to you would be to avoid this company at all costs or you will end up paying £300 in 'fees' and getting nothing in return for this huge out lay

GoogleUnnecessarily awkward to deal with, were really rude and slow on communication with my partner when discussing contract renewal with possible rent reduction due to the scaffolding. Attempted to book flat viewings with less than 24 hours notice which were then a no-show with no notice. Asked as nicely as possible to be contacted about any future viewings as I WFH but would be happy to move around calls etc. if they needed, absolutely zero compromise on their side as they haven’t bothered to do this. Can’t get through via phone most times we attempt to call to rectify issues.

GoogleI recently had a very disappointing experience. After viewing a flat, I reached out multiple times to proceed with the application process. Despite visiting your branch in person and speaking with another employee over the phone, I received no updates or follow-through. My email inquiries about this property and other available flats have also gone unanswered.
This lack of communication and professionalism is frustrating and unacceptable. You should not leave potential tenants in limbo; at the very least, you should provide a clear response regarding your interest in letting the property. I hope you improve your customer service and communication practices.

Turned up to a verified booking, waited around before calling the office since no one had showed up. Took a few times to get through which is okay, phone was answered and was told I would receive a call back with an update.
I received no call but rather a text telling me my viewing in a place completely different had been cancelled. No further contact.

You will just waste your time.
Do not rent with them all they care about is how to get their money.
For new students, do not search for apartments with them and see that their treatment is fine in the beginning, so that it will be reduced for you, but when you sign the contract, the treatment changes and they appear to be a fraud. Do not give a deposit because they do not return it.

TrustpilotBridgfords Gosforth
Bridgfords Gosforth - categorically the worst letting agents I have ever dealt with. They were very efficient at getting credit checks completed and the rent and deposit organised. After that though the service was appalllng. We picked up they keys a few days before we moved in and noticed a wash basin in the ensuite was smashed, and the premises was generally dirty (not mentioned on the inventory). Rang and advised - and said they could access the property to repair if necessary. It was not repaired when I moved in and I was advised this was because I needed to report through their portal. In the first week I had to report repairs - washing machine not plumbed in, broken toilet seats, kitchen cupboards so dilapidated the drawers fell out when opened, gas fire not working, thermostats missing/broken on radiators, ventilation fans not working plus the smashed basin. It took them 7 weeks to get some of the repairs done, the remainder were outstanding when I left 6 months later. I chased and chased but just got told they aren't priority repairs (repairs on white goods are supposed to be prioritised). Once I handed my notice in they were super efficient at arranging viewings to get some other poor fool to pay £850 to live in a cold badly maintained property.Although I have seen a copy of the check out report which mentioned lots of issues, all of which predated my tenancy, I have never had confirmation that the Land Lord is happy ( They brow beat me into taking a zero deposit arrangement which was very expensive so I don't have a deposit to come back) All in all swift to take your money slow to respond to issues and communications demonstrate how little they care about their tenants. I cannot recommend highly enough that you avoid this business like the plague.

GoogleTHE WORST EXPERIENCE, STAY AWAY AT ALL COST!
We are not satisfied about the current situation of both the property itself and fob/key issues. Reminded that it has already been 7 days of our tenancy and we are both still not able to move in, as principal and our previous experiences, everything should be ready for moving in on or before the day of tenancy start, we are doubtful to if anything was ready in the first place at all. We still only have one working house key and only one fob, when it is explicitly advertised that it is a 2 bedroom property. Out of these issues, we have both contacted personnel that should be responsible, yet the branch manager has verbally addressed us saying that we can just copy the keys ourselves, "it costs two quid.", which is unheard of from both our experiences. Copying keys ourselves touches on major legal issues which we do not want to be involved in, plus it should not be our job in the first place at all since we are the customers it should never be our responsibility. Also cutting keys are never only 'two quid' as mentioned by the branch manager, it is evident that we have been brushed off when we requested help. We were given a lot of keys and have been told to try them all out as some work some don't, which turns out only one house key works out of the whole stack, and we have only given one fob. Wasn't it the landlord or agency's responsibility to make sure every key is ready instead of us? Like we have addressed, everything should be ready on or before our tenancy started, not having to fix it ourselves when we are the ones who are using this company's service.
Then comes the cleanliness and the state of the property, we are deeply frustrated to say the least. We have been brushed off once again by the branch manager and told us that the property has been "professionally cleaned" and was "very expensive". We are still questioning if it was cleaned at all in the first place and if money was spent at all on cleaning since we have both been to the flat and the flat is not suitable for us to move in due to the nonexistent cleanliness. We have taken photo evidence of the state we have found the flat in on the day of our tenancy starts, again everything should be ready prior to moving in but clearly not.
We SHOULD NOT be dealing with these issues as everything should have been prepared for new tenants. Remind you the flat is still not in a sustainable living condition for us to move in when it should've been so. We also feel the lack of respect alongside nonexistent professionalism from the team, as most of the major issues that shouldn't have been ours are brushed off to the maintenance when we are requesting the bare minimum of service, we feel it is exploitative of the team since they assume us to be naive foreigners.
